🚨🎙️ Next on @SITREPph : Former Supreme Court Justice Antonio Carpio breaks down why the Kalayaan Island Group has always been Philippine territory - grounded in historical occupation, the Treaties of Paris and Washington, and reinforced by RA 9522, the Maritime Zones Act, and the Archipelagic Sea Lanes law. He also explains how the West Philippine Sea’s metes and bounds were deposited with the United Nations. We address disinformation, including claims amplified by Sen. Marcoleta and others, and how facts and law dismantle false narratives. Justice Carpio is clear: if the debate continues, it comes down to two core points. Clear facts. Legal record. No spin. U.S. President Donald Trump: "It was just revealed that Ilhan Omar’s name is not Ilhan Omar, the one she used to get elected and sworn into Congress, but rather, it’s an entirely different name, Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, and that her last name is, incredibly, also the exact name of her brother, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, the person they said she married and had children with. When asked whether or not she married her brother, she said, “Not to my knowledge.” In other words, she somehow didn’t know? Therefore, because she used a fake name to be sworn in, I assume she must IMMEDIATELY resign from Congress. Please inform the Speaker of the House of Representatives, James Michael Johnson, that the Dumocrat Party has just conceded her seat. Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, her real name, has openly admitted to FRAUD, and she will not be legally allowed to be a Member of this August Body from this point forth. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP".

“HINDI LANG ITO USAPIN NG MGA PEKENG DOKUMENTO, USAPIN ITO NG SEGURIDAD NG ATING BANSA” UPDATE: National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Melvin Matibag has issued a memorandum for a nationwide probe on the fraudulent procurement and use of official documents. In a press release on Thursday, Oct. 22, Matibag described the move as an effort towards protecting the integrity of institutions, adding that priority will be given to cases related to national security, including scam hubs and illegal drugs. He said the crackdown is not an attack on foreigners. “Hindi ito kampanya laban sa mga dayuhan o laban sa anumang lahi o nasyonalidad. Igagalang natin ang due process at karapatan ng bawat isa,” he said. “The objective is not simply to discover a fake document. We want to determine who produced it, who facilitated it, who benefited from it, what institutions were compromised, what assets were acquired through it, and whether an organized criminal or national-security network exists behind it,” the agency added. | Jia Erikah Fajardo

Philippine Defense Secretary Gilberto Gibo Teodoro Jr. warned that any attempt by China to board or tow away the BRP Sierra Madre from Ayungin Shoal (Second Thomas Shoal) would be considered an act of war. The statement follows reports from Chinese state-affiliated outlets suggesting Beijing was weighing options to remove or tow away the grounded vessel, alongside ongoing naval standoffs and blocked resupply missions in the West Philippine Sea. The Navy ship was deliberately grounded at Ayungin Shoal in 1999, remains a central symbol of Philippine territorial assertion in the South China Sea.

🚨 BREAKING NEWS: PHILIPPINES SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETES RESUPPLY MISSION TO AYUNGIN SHOAL On October 21, 2026, the Philippines successfully delivered essential supplies to its personnel aboard BRP Sierra Madre at Ayungin Shoal. While China claims to have approved the mission, such claims do not determine the extent of the Philippines’ maritime rights under international law. BRP Sierra Madre remains a symbol of the Philippines’ presence and determination to uphold its lawful rights in the West Philippine Sea. The 2016 Arbitral Award rejected the legal basis for China’s expansive historic-rights claims within the nine-dash line. The Philippines’ maritime entitlements cannot simply be defined by Beijing’s assertions. The successful resupply underscores the Philippines’ continued commitment to maintaining its presence and protecting its lawful maritime rights. 🇵🇭 THE PHILIPPINES’ MARITIME RIGHTS ARE NOT CHINA’S TO GRANT. ITS LAWFUL ENTITLEMENTS ARE NOT BEIJING’S TO DECIDE. #BRPSierraMadre #WPS #WestPhilippineSea #PhilippineSovereignty #RuleOfLaw #StandForThePhilippines #MaritimeSecurity #UNCLOS #SovereignRights #NotOneMore #BreakingNews #AyunginShoal

DIPLOMATIC CHESS: Why Malacañang Isn't Taking Beijing's Bait on Ambassador Expulsion When Chinese Ambassador Jing Quan made statements implying China could easily win using force, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. was quick to call it out, labeling the remark a threat and not very diplomatic. Despite escalating tension, including the Chinese Embassy posting a photo of Filipino lawmakers on social media following calls for the envoy's expulsion, President Marcos and the Department of Foreign Affairs chose not to declare the ambassador persona non grata or sever ambassadorial ties. In international statecraft, a larger power often provokes a smaller nation into taking an aggressive diplomatic step (like expelling an envoy). Had Manila expelled the ambassador, Beijing could shift the narrative, claiming Manila cut off dialogue, to justify harsher economic or maritime retaliation. By maintaining diplomatic protocol (summoning the envoy and issuing formal reprimands) rather than severing ties, the Philippines remains strictly aligned with international norms. This leaves Beijing holding sole responsibility for the hostile rhetoric in the eyes of the international community. Refusing to break diplomatic channels puts the ball back in Beijing's court. China must now choose whether to let its diplomats continue making public threats, which pushes Manila closer to allies like the US, Japan, and Australia, or de-escalate and return to formal diplomacy. Malacañang may have earned the ire of the citizens, but the President doesn't want to be the first one to blow the diplomatic channels and create an opening for China to escalate the issue. Ultimately, the strategy is designed to secure prolonged stability and economic opportunity of both nations while the Philippines reaps the larger share of economic benefits. #Chineseambassador

Let us call this what it is! A foreign ambassador, on Philippine soil, before Filipino journalists, telling Filipinos that his country "may easily win" if it chooses to use force against us. That is not reassurance. That is a direct threat, and wrapping it in "we love peace" does not change what it is. Ambassador Jing Quan is a guest in this country. We received him, accredited him, and extended to him every courtesy owed to a diplomat. A guest who reminds his host that he could easily beat him up, but has graciously decided not to, is not describing friendship. He is threatening the very country that received him and asking us to be grateful for it. He says we should "feel fortunate" to have a neighbor like China. Our fishermen driven away from Bajo de Masinloc do not feel fortunate. Our Coast Guard personnel water-cannoned, rammed, and lasered in our own exclusive economic zone do not feel fortunate. No people feel fortunate when a larger neighbor repeatedly violates the law and then tells them to be thankful it was not worse. The threat or use of force is prohibited under Article 2(4) of the UN Charter. China's claims in the West Philippine Sea were ruled without legal basis by the 2016 Arbitral Award. The Philippines does not measure its rights by the size of its neighbor's military. We measure them by international law. Not using force against a country whose rights you are already violating is not peace. It is coercion by other means!

Defense chief: Chinese diplomat statement meant to threaten PH By Priam Nepomuceno MANILA – Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. on Friday said the statement made by the top Chinese diplomat was a veiled threat for the Philippines. Chinese Ambassador Jing Quan earlier said China could “easily win” if it wants to use force amid the ongoing territorial disputes between the two nations. "But no, we'll not use force. We love peace," Jing told reporters at an event in Quezon City on Thursday. Teodoro, in turn, said “meron talagang nilalaman ang mga statement na yan (His statement really carries another meaning)." “At least natalupan. In the same statement,  sinasabi niya,  we want peace pagkatapos we can use force  and you will lose. Banta 'yun. 'Yun ang tunay na laman ng statement na 'yan. Tinatakot tayo (At least we were able to scrutinize it more closely. In the same statement, he is saying that  we want peace but after that, he said, we can use force and you will lose. That is a threat. That is the real content of his statement)," he said in a radio interview. "Kung matatakot tayo, (at) hindi natin tatayuan 'yung statement na 'yan, hindi na makabansa 'yun (If we will get frightened and not stand against that statement, that would be unpatriotic)." Teodoro lauded FIlipino netizens who came out in force in criticizing the statement of the Chinese diplomat through various social media platforms. "Kung may kumampi pa dito eh halatang halata na na hindi makabansa ang intensyon (If some will take his side, their intentions are not for the country)," he added. Sec. Teodoro highlights a crucial economic truth: a nation cannot sustain a Self-Reliant Defense Posture, originally formalized under Marcos Sr. via PD 415 in 1974, without a strong industrial backbone. Korea succeeded because they built steel mills and basic industries first. For the Philippines to revive its defense manufacturing, restoring heavy industrial capability is a national security imperative.
Defense Secretary Gilberto C. Teodoro, Jr. emphasized that South Korea’s strategic approach to industrialization, particularly its investment in basic industries, is a lesson that the Philippines needs to consider. #DNDPHL #BagongPilipinas #DiKaPasisiil

🚨 SEALIGHT INVESTIGATION: 🇨🇳Beijing's "Backbone Force" in 🇵🇭Manila You've probably never heard of the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Associations of the Philippines, or the big Southeast Asian conference it just hosted in Manila, where a Chinese Party-state official instructed delegates to "tell China's story". In fact, even if you belong to one of the more than 200 ethnically Chinese civic groups it claims to speak for, you may not have heard of it. The federation's leaders appear to want it that way. After all, nearly everything it publishes is in Chinese ... because although it is virtually unknown to most Filipinos, FFCAP is very important to Beijing. China's embassy helped create FFCAP in 1977, and its ambassador personally swore in its current officers. Three quarters of its trustees are Chinese citizens. In 2023 the United Front Work Department hosted a large FFCAP delegation at UFWD headquarters in Beijing, where a council chaired by a CCP Politburo Standing Committee member called it the "backbone force" in the Philippines for its fight against Taiwan independence. FFCAP's official government filings say it exists to promote "camaraderie." They leave out its pledges to advance China's agenda for Taiwan "under the guidance of the Embassy," and a ₱1.5M gift worth more than twice its reported annual income. Next June FFCAP turns 50. Once again most Filipinos won't hear about the celebration -- which is sure to be big, lavish and include UFWD leaders from across the region -- because it won't be reported in a language they understand. But if you read the full SeaLight investigation (link in the comment below), you'll know where to look! 🔍 #UnitedFront #China #Philippines #Taiwan #CCP #ForeignInterference

THE BASHI CHANNEL SQUEEZE: WHY SUBSEA FIBER CUTS ARE A NATIONAL SECURITY CRISIS Have you experienced internet slowdowns recently? Globe and major telecoms are rerouting traffic after a subsea fiber break disrupted connectivity across the country. This subsea fiber is located in the Bashi Channel / Luzon Strait waters north of Batanes and the Babuyan Islands. This serves as the primary transPacific choke point carrying critical subsea cables that connect the Philippines to Singapore, Hong Kong, and East Asia. WHAT MAKES THIS A NATIONAL SECURITY ISSUE? THE TIMING IS GETTING HARDER TO IGNORE. i A Chinese seabed-survey vessel, JIA HAI KE 7, was caught spoofing its AIS location while loitering near a corridor carrying critical undersea cables off Batanes. The PCG said the vessel was inside the Philippine EEZ and conducting activity consistent with marine scientific research. China then asserted that the waters off Batanes are under Chinese jurisdiction. The Philippine DFA firmly rejected that claim. And this comes amid renewed Chinese claims questioning the status of Batanes itself, after Chinese scholars argued that the islands are a geographic extension of Taiwan and should fall under Chinese sovereignty. Cable outage. Chinese survey vessel. AIS spoofing. Batanes. Bashi Channel. Chinese jurisdiction claims. Are these connected? We don't know yet. The Bashi Channel is not just water between the Philippines and Taiwan. It is a critical communications and strategic chokepoint.
PCG SHADOWS CHINESE RESEARCH VESSEL AND CCG ESCORTS AT OUTER LIMIT OF PH EEZ; TAIWAN COAST GUARD VESSELS ALSO SEEN IN THE AREA The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) continues to shadow the Chinese research vessel (CRV) JIA HAI KE 7 and its two China Coast Guard (CCG) escorts. The CRV has moved north from its earlier loitering position toward the outer limit of the Philippine Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) in the Luzon Strait. As the CRV moved into these waters, three (3) Taiwan Coast Guard vessels were also deployed to the area. This morning, they were operating near BRP TERESA MAGBANUA (MRRV-9701), the PCG's largest cutter, which remains on station. TCG 1001 was 0.89 nautical miles off MRRV-9701's port bow. TCG 1002 was 1.18 nautical miles off her port bow, and TCG 126 was 5.45 nautical miles off her port bow. As of today, BRP TERESA MAGBANUA is shadowing the three Chinese vessels. JIA HAI KE 7 is lying-to 8.45 nautical miles off her port side. CCG 2503 is underway 3.2 nautical miles off her port side, and CCG 14608 is underway 7.84 nautical miles off her port bow. The Chinese government sent two CCG vessels to stay with a supposedly private research ship all the way to the outer limit of the Philippine EEZ. This shows again that JIA HAI KE 7 is not operating on its own. A government law enforcement fleet does not escort a commercial survey ship unless that ship's mission serves the interests of the state. The presence of other maritime law enforcement vessels in the area also shows that concern over this vessel goes beyond the Philippines. JIA HAI KE 7 is a seabed-survey ship that held station for four days in waters crossed by critical submarine cable corridors. It also spoofed its AIS position to hide its movements. The safety of undersea communications infrastructure in the Luzon Strait matters to the entire region that depends on it. The PCG reiterates that no consent was requested or given for JIA HAI KE 7 to conduct marine scientific research in the Philippine EEZ, as required under Article 246 of UNCLOS and the Philippine Maritime Zones Act. BRP TERESA MAGBANUA will remain in the area and continue to shadow and monitor the CRV and the CCG vessels. The PCG will continue to track JIA HAI KE 7 through its coastal monitoring stations, the Dark Vessel Detection (DVD) system, and maritime domain awareness flights to make sure it does not return to Philippine waters to resume unauthorized activities. This mission is in accordance with the guidance of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to protect the country's maritime domain and not to tolerate any unauthorized foreign research within Philippine waters.

Thank you, Dr. @JeffreyOrdaniel, for this donation!
[STATEMENT] The WPS Foundation welcomes the commissioning of BRP SARANGANI (6177) into the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), following the vessel's formal turnover on 21 September 2026. BRP SARANGANI, formerly the KINMEN (CG123), was built in 2008. The fully refurbished vessel was acquired by the WPS Foundation and donated to the Philippine Coast Guard at no cost to the Philippine Government, exclusively for civilian maritime use. The vessel is approximately 61 meters long and 11.7 meters wide, with a displacement of around 688 tons. It gives the PCG an additional platform for maritime patrols, search and rescue, humanitarian assistance and disaster response, marine environmental protection, training, and other civilian missions. The donation followed months of coordination led by Dr. Jeffrey Ordaniel, President and CEO of the WPS Foundation. "Our objective was straightforward: if we could bring a capable vessel to the Philippine Coast Guard without asking Filipino taxpayers to foot the bill, we should find a way to make it happen," Ordaniel said. "It took months of work, but we reached an arrangement that worked." The Foundation thanks its partners in Taiwan, including the Taiwan Coast Guard Administration and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines, for their assistance in facilitating the transfer. It also acknowledges the Manila Economic and Cultural Office for its support. The Foundation thanks Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan, Commandant of the Philippine Coast Guard, and the PCG officers and personnel who worked on the acceptance of the vessel. "Every additional capable vessel means more presence at sea, more capacity for search and rescue, and more options when the Coast Guard is called upon to respond," Ordaniel said. "That is why we pursued this project." The donation also reflects how far practical maritime cooperation between the peoples of the Philippines and Taiwan has come since the difficult 2013 incident involving a Taiwanese fishing vessel. Both sides have since worked to prevent similar incidents and to build cooperation in areas such as maritime safety and search and rescue. The WPS Foundation believes there is room for further people-to-people and practical cooperation in search and rescue, maritime safety, fisheries, humanitarian assistance and disaster response, and marine environmental protection, consistent with the Philippines' One China Policy. "Ultimately, this is now a Philippine Coast Guard vessel. What matters is the service it provides to the Filipino people," Ordaniel said. "We are grateful to everyone who helped make this possible." Welcome to the Philippine Coast Guard, BRP SARANGANI (6177).

PLA FIRES FLARES AT UNARMED PCG AIRCRAFT DURING MARITIME DOMAIN AWARENESS FLIGHT OVER KALAYAAN ISLAND GROUP The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) recorded multiple flare discharges by the People's Liberation Army (PLA) against an unarmed PCG aircraft conducting a legitimate Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) flight over the Kalayaan Island Group (KIG) on 07 September 2026. Prior to landing on Pag-asa Island, the PCG aircraft was challenged over radio by Chinese forces illegally occupying Zamora (Subi) Reef, which then fired flares in its direction. Chinese forces illegally occupying Panganiban (Mischief) Reef repeated the same actions. In both instances, the PCG aircrew responded over radio that the presence of Chinese forces on these illegally reclaimed features is a violation of international law, and that the MDA flight is a routine and legitimate operation. The aircrew likewise observed a considerable number of Chinese Maritime Militia vessels sheltered inside the lagoons of both features. No personnel were observed on the decks of these vessels or on the reclaimed facilities, and no vehicular movement was monitored anywhere on the illegally reclaimed artificial islands. Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan said the PLA's conduct speaks for itself. "Flares were fired at an unarmed Coast Guard aircraft. The PCG does not need to characterize this behavior," Admiral Gavan said. He added that the 2016 Arbitral Award is clear that Panganiban Reef is a low-tide elevation forming part of the exclusive economic zone and continental shelf of the Philippines, and that China's reclamation activities there were carried out in violation of Philippine sovereign rights. The discharge of flares against an aircraft in flight also endangers flight safety and disregards the duty of due regard that China owes under the Convention on International Civil Aviation. The PCG will continue to conduct MDA flights over the West Philippine Sea undeterred, and will continue to document and expose China's aggression and violations of international law, in pursuance to the commitment of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. that we will never yield.

The inaugural Luzon Economic Corridor Investment Forum officially opened on September 10, 2026, in Manila, bringing together over 600 international investors, industry leaders, and senior government officials. Co-hosted by the Philippines, the United States, and Japan, the two-day forum running from September 10 to 11 focuses on a portfolio of 38 project opportunities spanning energy, transportation, logistics, and digital connectivity across Subic, Clark, Manila, and Batangas. Among these, 17 projects feature defined cost estimates, while the remaining 21 have figures currently undergoing final review. The initiative targets more than 20 billion dollars in total investments, anchored by several high-ticket infrastructure and energy ventures: ✔️Subic Clark Natural Gas Ecosystem: A large scale liquefied natural gas (LNG) platform and pipeline network proposed by I Squared Capital to power industrial and commercial hubs across the corridor. ✔️Sangley Point International Airport (SPIA) Development: A major regional aviation gateway project featuring multi runway infrastructure and fully integrated logistics facilities to alleviate air traffic congestion. ✔️North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) Operation & Maintenance Concession: A public-private partnership contract for the management, upkeep, and efficient running of the 147-kilometer rapid rail system linking Central Luzon and Metro Manila. ✔️Metro Manila Subway Operation & Maintenance: A private sector concession focused on operating and maintaining the country's first underground heavy rail transit system across the capital region. ✔️Subic-Clark-Manila-Batangas (SCMB) Freight Railway: A 250-kilometer logistics backbone designed to link deep water ports and industrial centers to streamline cargo movement and cut supply chain costs. As the Luzon Economic Corridor moves from blueprints to execution, its success will ultimately be measured not by the scale of its billions, but by its capacity to fundamentally rewire the country's economic geography. By bridging vital ports, modernizing logistics, and securing reliable energy, the initiative offers a pragmatic framework to transition regional potential into lasting, tangible growth. #LEC #LuzonEconomicCorridor #PHJapanUSTrilateral 📹 RVTM
