Sophie O’Connell 2028

Yesterday was the FCIAC quarterfinal game #2 Danbury vs #7 Fairfield-Warde. We were down 6-2 in the bottom of 6th, I got up to bat with bases loaded and no outs, and I tied the game with a grand slam!! My teammates manufactured another run to take the lead 7-6! So proud of the team effort to send us to the FCIAC semi-finals next Tuesday! All this little 8 year old girl with a bat wanted to do was hit bombs like the big girls and she dreamed of one day traveling to Florida to play softball. That dream came true many times as part of this unimaginable journey. I’m taking today, September 1st, to reflect on all that softball has given me so far. The softball journey has been more than I could have imagined and I’m so grateful. Thank you to my parents, family, coaches, teammates, and friends who have supported me all along and helped make this dream come to life. Can’t wait for the next phase of the journey.

Thank you so much to @LineDsoftball for the recognition and ranking in the 2028 Line Drive Hot 100!! Humbled to be recognized alongside so many amazing athletes. Thank you to my @HattersSoftball and @EStateHuskies coaches for all your support!!
