Crystal Ball put out their final map a few minutes after my post. Iowa moved to lean R. The other tossups moved to lean D.

This comparison makes no sense.
Paxton was nominated and is on the ballot.
Graham was forced to drop out and is not.

When they lose on Tuesday, expect the pundits to move towards "No point in on investigating Trump, he's a lame duck" and say it with a serious face
We must laugh in that face

If you're black, I have the easiest Halloween costume for you. Wrap an Israeli flag around you, and just start calling everyone you see an antisemite. Voila, you're @VanJones68.

The best way to explain 2026 is to compare these two word clouds, where we asked who Democrats and Republicans fight for.
The Democratic one is a mixed picture: some good, a lot of bad ("working people" is there, but also "themselves").
The Republican one is a car crash.

After the right-coalition cheered the 1/6 insurrection, paying a foreign authoritarian to cage deportees in a brutal and abusive prison system, blowing up boats with unarmed people on them in the name of stopping drugs, and wanton corruption, no one can take this seriously.

I would wager real money there will be at least one “JD the Dove, Democrat the Hawk” takes from some far left wing hack on this site in 2028

Please don’t unfollow me over this but this take is fully correct. Silver is and has always been very good at modeling elections/reading the election tea leaves, even when his model has been “wrong.” (He’s a terrible pundit, of course.)
Listened to Nate Silver on Ezra this morning. One of the least popular things I could do on this website is defend Nate Silver, so challenge accepted.
His "vibes" have been directionally correct in every Election. In 2012, he fought against the polling unskewers making claims that Romney would win based on undersampling of Republicans.
In 2016, his model was famously FAR more bullish on Trump than any others. He was the only modeler who understood the possibility of correlated polling error.
In 2020, he repeatedly emphasized the higher than usual uncertainty due to the pandemic.
In 2022, he fought back against pollsters (NY Times!) basically ignoring their own data to buy into the Red Wave.
In 2024, he said that even though his model was 50/50, his gut said Trump would win.
All in all, a better record than anyone else on Election Twitter.

I was in the room multiple times when President Biden met with and prayed with Catholic bishops.
They didn’t run cameras, because he and those present didn’t want to politicize prayer and encounter for electoral gain.
When Biden lost his second child in May 2015, he prayed nearly all night in front of the Blessed Sacrament.
It’s the same thing he did in 1972 when he lost his daughter and late wife to a drunk driver.
He went to Mass every single Sunday as president, oftentimes next to the parish cemetery of his children, and relied on his faith to guide him through hell and high water.
You might not like his politics, but I encourage you to act with Christian charity towards the sincerity of his faith and take the view of the late Pope Francis, who called him a “good Catholic” in 2021.

Perhaps people have forgotten or were too young to remember but when conservatives swear to you that Obama was a divisive president, it’s because of stuff like this. He would say the most innocuous thing and we would get days of “Dem elitist” commentary from conservative media and pundits.
Again, it’s not lost on me that Obama compared Trump’s taste to that of Saddam Hussein in the same breath, and that Trump literally said he didn’t care about high gas prices the same day, yet none of that broke through. Because perceived threats to white cultural hegemony are actually what most of the last 10 years of politics have been about.
It’s the same reason why a Democrat’s career would be over for trashing Toledo, Ohio, why we still talk about Hillary’s “deplorables” gaffe, but Republicans say awful things about America’s largest cities and deny them federal funds and there’s barely a whimper of outrage.
the cheesecake factory discourse a back to the future reminder of what 2008-2016 was like on here. Obama makes funny joke revealing he's like the average American (fluent enough in gaudy chain restaurants to jest about a specific chain). GOPers decide it means he's not #oneofus. This goes on for days...
