I guess I wasnβt the only one who sensed the eeriness of this storm and how different it felt from storms of the past.
I spoke with a guy today who experienced Hurricane Ivan in the exact same neighborhood. I went through Ivan myself, and even though that was a powerful storm, I donβt remember seeing anything quite as frightening as what I witnessed last night.
As a weather connoisseur, Iβll admit I thoroughly enjoyed experiencing the raw power of Mother Nature, even if it made me nervous more than a few times.
But there was something different about this storm. Something unsettling, almost surreal, thatβs difficult to put into words.
And Iβll say it over and over again: There was something different about this one.

What the heck is a βSting Jetβ??
Itβs a narrow strip of violent winds, like a jet streak, that can be pulled downward from up above. As the jet streak descends the air dries out, becoming heavier, and speeding up. This Sting Jet got sucked into #Isaias and produced 120 mph gusts near #pensacola, far stronger than the #hurricane core itself.
This is an idealized, simplified animation, and the jet is a consequence of the interaction between the storm and the winds aloft.

THE DEMOCRATIC SOCIALISTS OF AMERICA ARE NOT DEMOCRATIC. AND "SOCIALIST" IS DOING SOME HEAVY LIFTING.
I read their youth wing's constitution so you don't have to. You're welcome. I need a shower.
The Young Democratic Socialists of America want to:
"Abolish the Senate, the Supreme Court, and all other institutions of minority rule."
"Nationalize major industries" under "a common plan decided by the working class."
"Take all private schools into public ownership."
"Abolish the standing military and police."
And write "a new democratic constitution."
Babe. That's a communist. You can put a rose emoji on it. It's still a communist.
My favorite part: you can be kicked out of YDSA for being a cop. It's right there in the membership rules. And nobody over 30 can hold office. So the plan to run the entire American economy will be managed by people who still can't get their own car insurance.
They hold an annual convention and elect leaders by "Meek Single Transferable Vote." I've been to bachelorette parties with less paperwork. And somehow I bet those conventions are lit. Just not by electricity, because the Green New Deal said no.
Their manifesto says they leave "authoritarian visions of socialism in the dustbin of history."
Sweetie, they all say that. Lenin promised "peace, land and bread." The Soviets delivered breadlines. Mao promised a Great Leap Forward and tens of millions starved. Venezuela was once the richest country in South America. Now people there have eaten zoo animals. Cuba has had 67 years of a workers' paradise and still drives 1957 Chevys. Communism has been tried on every continent, in snow, sand, or on a beach, and it fails the same way every time. Then the people who promised paradise build a wall to keep everyone in.
And now they've added a new ingredient.
October 8, 2023, one day after Hamas murdered 1,200 people, NYC-DSA promoted a rally where the crowd chanted "resistance is justified." One of their own founding members, historian Maurice Isserman, quit in disgust. A sitting congressman renounced his membership.
That was three years ago, so surely they learned.
Last week, a post listed five DSA groups, including youth chapters, as calling October 7 "resistance against imperialism." Two pulled their names after they got caught. At least one didn't.
Communism plus a terrorist fan club. Bold choice. Karl Marx would ask for a separate check.
Now, are all 100,000 members waving Hamas flags? No. Plenty are 24-year-olds with student loans and a tote bag. But it keeps happening, the leadership keeps apologizing after the fact, and the next post goes up anyway.
And they are growing. About 100,000 members. 233 chapters. Nearly 160 youth chapters in high schools and colleges. A DSA member runs New York City now. They have an International Committee to export it worldwide, because one failed revolution at a time is so inefficient.
Here's my question, and I mean it. In their workers' paradise, who does the work? Who pays the surgeon, the welder, the engineer, the cop they kicked out? Every country that tried it found out. The answer always involves a wall, a shortage, and a lot of very sorry people.
I made a very simple video that walks through exactly what they're selling and what they are. Their own graphics. Their own words. Seventy-six seconds. It's in the reply below. π
Parents, check what your kid's campus club is reading. If it says "seize the commanding heights of the economy," that's not a book club.
Rich countries build. Communist countries ration. And the people who rally for terrorists don't get to lecture the rest of us about justice.

Notice the strongest windsπ¨ were way west of the eye wall? Thatβs because the storm ingested a narrow and violent jet stream from high above on the stormβs west side and that rapidly descended to the ground. The models advertised it well, but still seeing the strongest gusts dozens of miles west of the core was odd even for us meteorologists. This image is from NOAA Satellites, it called SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar)
It measures the roughness of the water and then translates that into wind. The purple is 80 knots, the white is 100 knots +
Bottom line: every storm has its own character and impacts! #hurricane #isaias #pensacola #Florida

Of all the hurricanes Iβve experienced, Hurricane Isaias was one of the most intense Iβve ever witnessed firsthand.
I probably would have experienced something even more powerful during Hurricane Ivan, but believe it or not, I slept through much of that storm. LOL! π
This time was different. I was awake to witness the full fury of Mother Nature.
Watching the dark sky illuminate with flashes of lightning, yet hearing no thunder. Just the relentless roar of the wind. There was something both terrifying and awe-inspiring about it.
Iβve always had a deep fascination and respect for hurricanes, but experiencing that kind of power firsthand reminds you just how small we really are.
Mother Nature is beautiful, unpredictable, and absolutely unforgiving.
Never underestimate her power, and never take it for granted.

This MADTV skit from 24 years ago is still painfully accurate.
A white girl whose brain has been broken by leftism uses her Black friend as bait to βproveβ all old people are racist. When the old lady is actually nice, she gets pissed that her friend isnβt βBlack enoughβ and tells her to pump up the ghetto act.
Then drops the classic: βI canβt be racist, my best friend is Black.β
The left still does this exact routine every single day. They hunt for racism everywhere, call everyone else racist, and never notice theyβre the ones obsessed with race.
