The latest from @ProvBusNews: when @RIPTA_RI service is cut, the local economy feels it. Public transit is economic infrastructure. It connects people to jobs, businesses to customers, and communities to growth. @PVDStreets @SaveRIPTA @TransitRi

@GovDanMcKee gave car owners tax relief, but cut bus routes. Furthermore, he wants to raise fare hikes for worse service, a tax on the working poor.

We are so incredibly grateful to the brave drivers at @RIPTA_RI who stepped up to serve their community during a time of tragedy.
Special thanks to these wonderful RIPTA drivers who stepped up to help the Brown University students on Saturday night. Just another reason @RIPTA_RI means so much to our community.

Benoit...suggested that RIPTAβs board support a tax on Rhode Islandβs highest earners to fill the agencyβs remaining budget gap.
In non-Brown news: RIPTA's board approved its recommended FY27 budget β a spending plan that includes a nearly $14 million deficit.

Several RIPTA buses are here at the Nelson fitness center on Hope Street.
One of the drivers just told me that they were assigned with bringing several students here and will soon leave to pick up the family of the injured. @NBC10

Barbara and Justin are great transit advocates too!
Meet your #RiderOfTheWeek! Providence residents Barbara and Justin ride RIPTA and RIde #paratransit to work, shopping, and appointments. This glowing bride-to-be and her fiancΓ© even rode the Route 21 bus to the Big Cheese in Cranston to celebrate their engagement! #PublicTransit

Looking for RIPTA riders impacted by the service cuts implemented last month. I'm hoping to work on a series of stories about the cuts for @ecorinews. You can DM me and or email ([email protected])

The biggest cuts in @RIPTA_RI history go into effect in a week, and they were rushed through so fast by @GovDanMcKee that RIPTA hasnβt even had time to write the new schedules. I have never been more angry at my local politicians. @JoeShekarchi silent, @Val_Lawson complicit. SMH.
Hi there, the new schedules will be posted as soon as they are ready on our website at RIPTA.com/Schedules.

You gutted RIPTA by millions and now when they win a grant you take the credit? If you actually cared you would just fund them in the budget.

@GovDanMcKee there is about $4 million dollars missing in your announcement here that RIPTA needs now!
NEW: Weβre announcing $500,000+ in new funding to support @RIPTA_RIβs efforts to improve on-demand flex service and grow ridership while advancing our climate goals.

DURING THE MIDDLE OF A WORK DAY. @GovDanMcKee @JoeShekarchi @Val_Lawson you are not working for the people of Rhode Island!!! We are literally begging you not to cut our buses!! Where is the leadership?

McKee cuts are approved, with Benoit voting no. Thank you Benoit and Lombardi! This is not over. @GovDanMcKee and GA can still act. We will continue to fight for full funding for RIPTA. Details on further actions to follow.

Although the one-time funding (which RIPTA has to pay back from its capital budget down the line) will prevent some lines from going away completely, advocates and riders aren't see this move as a 100% win... service is still going to be impacted negatively, and dramatically.
PACK THE BOARD ROOM THURS
Tell @GovDanMcKee @RIDOTNews @RIPTA_RI @JoeShekarchi @Val_Lawson the service reductions are unacceptable. We have to be making RIPTA better, not worse.
Frequency = freedom
Frequency = ridership
Frequency = revenue
Cutting frequency will hurt riders.

@GovDanMcKee trying to look good while still causing massive cuts to 46 bus routes is just gross. It will take so much work to undo the harm this man has caused. Iβm so disappointed in this states leadership.
