How Protestants read Scripture: Scripture: “Mary was blessed among women.” (Luke 1:42) Protestants: “Amen. Mary was blessed among women.” How Roman Catholics read Scripture: Scripture: “Mary was blessed among women.” Catholics: “Therefore, she remained perpetually a virgin, was conceived without original sin, was bodily assumed into heaven, is Queen of Heaven, and should be invoked in prayer.”

Catholics are very talented at one thing: EISEGESIS; reading their own beliefs and doctrines INTO Scripture rather than drawing their doctrines FROM Scripture. Eisegesis: Reading INTO Scripture beliefs and doctrines that the text itself does not establish. Exegesis: Drawing OUT OF Scripture the meaning the biblical authors actually intended. The difference? One imposes doctrine on Scripture. The other derives doctrine from Scripture.

Comments like this are why it's difficult to take Catholic apologetics seriously. It's so blatantly contrary to Scripture that I genuinely can't tell whether this is rage bait, a troll account, or someone who simply hasn't read the Bible. Christ is the hope of sinners, not Mary. (1 Timothy 1:1; Acts 4:12)
Mary is the hope of sinners.

Jesus: “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 Jesus: “If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.” John 14:14 Scripture: “For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” 1 Timothy 2:5 Scripture: “In whom we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in him.” Ephesians 3:12 Catholics: 👇
Take your worries to Mary. She will talk to Jesus on your behalf

That's a remarkable misunderstanding of sola fide. Scripture teaches that we are justified by faith apart from works (Romans 3:28), not that saving faith produces no obedience. Ephesians 2:8–9 excludes works as the BASIS of salvation, while verse 10 declares that we are CREATED in Christ Jesus FOR good works. James 2:17 teaches that faith without works is dead. Good works are the FRUIT of genuine saving faith, not the CAUSE of justification. You're arguing against a caricature of Protestant theology, not the doctrine itself.
Jesus: “Why do you call me Lord and not do what I say?” Protestants: “Because I’m saved by faith alone.”

Amen! Presidents come and go, political parties rise and fall, but Christ reigns forever! His throne is never up for election, and His sovereign purposes cannot be overturned. That doesn't mean we stop advocating for Christian values, righteousness, and godly leadership. God's sovereignty never negates our responsibility. And sometimes, God's judgment upon a nation is to give its people the very leaders they desire (Romans 1; Judges 2). Regardless of the outcome, our responsibility is faithfulness, and our confidence remains in Christ alone.
It’s a great day to n🔵t get the blues—the begotten Son of God reigns!

Regardless of the outcome of any election, one truth remains unchanged: GOD IS SOVEREIGN. Daniel 2:21 reminds us that God removes kings and establishes kings. Romans 13:1 declares that no authority exists except by God's sovereign appointment. Our leaders often reflect the moral and spiritual condition of the society that elects them. But our greatest problem isn't political. It's spiritual. A nation doesn't need merely better politicians. It needs repentance, righteousness, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Kings rise and fall. Nations come and go. But God's throne remains forever. Our hope was never in Washington. Our hope is in CHRIST.

Apparently, asking for biblical evidence is now "fake logic." 😂 Notice how he completely avoids my argument and simply declares that the Catholic Church has already proven its teachings. That's an assertion, not an argument. You couldn't establish purgatory from apostolic teaching, so you appealed to the very institution whose doctrine is being challenged. That's circular reasoning, not a refutation.
Replying to @ScriptureAlone2
Please stop this fake logic talk. The Catholic Church has proven that all of its teaching can be reconciled with Scripture for thousands of years. The Protestants accused the Catholic Church of apostasy. They have never proven this accusation true. You're arguing that Catholicism is false because it does not agree with Protestant teaching, which is stupid.

Exactly! The Reformation wasn't about inventing a new gospel. It was about recovering and defending the gospel proclaimed by Christ and His apostles. Rome's claim to historical continuity doesn't establish doctrinal fidelity. Scripture, not institutional longevity, is the standard of truth. Well said.
The gospel wasn't wrong for 1,500 years; your church gradually departed, then formally declared your apostasy at Trent.

Where does Scripture teach that visiting a cemetery, praying for the Pope, receiving Communion, and performing prescribed rituals can release a soul from purgatory? Where does Scripture teach that the Church possesses the authority to grant indulgences to the dead? Hebrews 10:14 says Christ has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified. This entire system rests on ecclesiastical authority, not biblical instruction. Christ's finished work needs no supplementary treasury of merits, indulgences, or papal permissions.
Catholics, reminder: You can free a soul from purgatory every day this week. From Nov 1–8, the Church grants a plenary indulgence, applicable to the souls in purgatory, each day you: 1. Visit a cemetery and pray for the dead (even silently) 2. Go to confession (within about 20 days before or after) 3. Receive Holy Communion 4. Pray for the Pope's intentions (an Our Father and Hail Mary is enough) 5. Be detached from all sin, even venial Today only (All Souls Day): you can also gain one by visiting a church and praying the Our Father and the Creed. One confession covers the whole week. Communion and the prayer for the Pope are needed for each day's indulgence. And if you're not fully detached from sin, you still gain a partial indulgence. So go anyway. Repost this to spread the word. The souls in purgatory need our help.

Ephesians 6:18–19 commands living believers to pray FOR one another. It says absolutely nothing about praying TO deceased saints. Paul asked living Christians to pray for him. He never instructed anyone to invoke Mary or departed believers. You're defending a practice your own proof text doesn't even mention.
Why don’t Protestants read the Bible?

Well said 💯
Not everyone is a child of God. By nature, we’re all children of wrath. God chose and predestined His people for adoption through Jesus Christ and we become His adopted children through faith in Christ

The word “mentioned” is doing some Olympic-level heavy lifting here. 😂 Nobody objects to mentioning Mary. We object to praying to her, invoking her as an intercessor, and attributing spiritual roles to her that Scripture never establishes. Reducing an entire theological disagreement to “Protestants get mad when you say Mary” is disingenuous and absurd on its face.
Imagine thinking Jesus is mad because you mentioned His Mom. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Five passages explicitly exclude works as the basis of justification, and your rebuttal is that they don't contain your preferred vocabulary? 😂 Romans 3:28 — APART FROM works. Romans 4:5 — DOES NOT WORK but believes. Ephesians 2:9 — NOT a result of works. Galatians 2:16 — NOT justified by works. Philippians 3:9 — NOT having a righteousness of my own. I'm sorry the educational system failed you so spectacularly. Apparently, nobody taught you that the same truth can be expressed without using the exact same word.

Three Essential Biblical Doctrines Every Christian Should Understand: 1. Original Sin (Romans 5:12; Psalm 51:5) Humanity is fallen in Adam. We are not born morally neutral but inherit a sinful nature. 2. Federal Headship (Romans 5:18–19; 1 Corinthians 15:22) Adam represented humanity in the fall. Christ represents His people in redemption. Through Adam came condemnation; through Christ comes justification. 3. Penal Substitutionary Atonement (Isaiah 53:5–6; 2 Corinthians 5:21) Christ willingly bore the penalty our sins deserved, satisfying divine justice and securing redemption for His people. The Gospel makes no sense without understanding the problem of sin, our condemnation in Adam, and the saving work of Jesus Christ. In Adam, condemnation. In Christ, redemption. Soli Deo Gloria.

You're confusing man's bondage to sin before regeneration with the believer's freedom in Christ after regeneration. Reformed theology teaches BOTH. John 8:34 Man is enslaved to sin. John 8:36 Christ sets sinners free. Romans 6:18 Believers are freed from sin and become slaves of righteousness. You literally quoted a passage that supports the Reformed position. Christ doesn't merely offer freedom. He actually sets His people free.
Bondage to sin is part of Reformed doctrine. New Testament doctrine teaches victory.

Assurance of salvation is not presumption when it's grounded in Christ's finished work rather than our own righteousness. “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may KNOW that you have eternal life.” 1 John 5:13 “Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:1 Biblical assurance rests on Christ's promises, not human merit. Calling that assurance sinful presumption confuses trusting Christ with trusting yourself.
"I'm 100% sure I'm going to heaven." Friendly reminder, presumption is a sin.

In a godless universe governed by blind, unguided processes, suffering and death are entirely expected. Evolution offers no promise of fairness, justice, or protection from tragedy. Christianity doesn't deny suffering; it explains why we live in a fallen world and offers the hope that death will not have the final word.
It's Sunday. Millions of Christians are thanking god for waking them up, while thousands of children who prayed to the same god never woke up. Explain how that works.
