Hey, I’m Mike. I’m a comedian. I started doing open mics in the year 2000 and I haven’t had to get a real job since 2007. Comedy clubs only book comedians for two reasons. The first reason is because the comedian is famous and will sell lots of tickets and the club will make lots of money. The second reason is because the comedian is SO funny, the club books them knowing that even though ticket sales will be low, the people who do show up are going to have a really great time. I’m definitely not famous. Most people have no clue who I am. And yet, I’ve still managed to make comedy my only job for the last 16 years. That means that clubs are only booking me because my comedy is awesome. Not because I sell a bunch of tickets. Because I don’t…YET.
