Fascism is when Prequel revisionism
Because nerd spaces have become petri dishes for fascism, and Star Wars was ground zero for that after TLJ. Fascists love the idea that there was a mythic past before (((they))) came in and ruined everything And that belief is immune to reality, even when it's easily disprovable

So much prequel hate is because people refuse to accept that the whole idea of Star Wars is that inside big scary Darth Vader is a terrified, lonely little boy. That's it. That's the Prequels. And if you don't see the genius in that there's no saving you

It’s curious watching these people accuse others of living in a bubble while referencing a malicious documentary made by nerds living in a Prequel-hating echo chamber. One might say it’s a tad ironic.
A literal documentary was made about how much Star Wars fans hated the prequels. Your bubble is not reality.

The prequels are the epitome of being a "space opera" and saying they fail at realism as if that was ever something Star Wars was going for is such a hilariously dumb boomer take
They fail at being epic operas even more than they fail at realism. The writing and acting is mostly flat and boring. Same goes for the cinematography. There’s nothing operatic about it. Epic perhaps in theory but certainly not in execution. You guys have created a version of the Star Wars prequels in your heads (a version that sounds pretty interesting, if only it existed) and have grafted it onto the actual films which in reality fail at whatever they were trying to do, unless they were trying to be verbose, clumsy, wooden, and bland. It’s very clear to the rest of us that the people trying to rehab the Star Wars prequels are just nostalgic for something that they enjoyed as kids. That’s fine. I have a nostalgic attachment to some crappy 90s movies like Independence Day for example. It came out when I was 10 and at the time it seemed to me like the greatest cinematic achievement in history. But then I grew up and I can now see that Will Smith punching an alien and saying “welcome to earf” is not a high point of western art. And that’s fine. It’s stupid but I still remember it fondly. You don’t have to try so hard to intellectualize some dumb bullshit you liked when you were a kid. It’s okay. It can just be dumb bullshit, which it is.

Well, some of the kids who grew up in sheltered fan bubbles, without old men yelling at them, just straight up never experienced that hate. Slightly older fans did, but still correctly insist that it wasn't universal. Both prompt haters to cry delusional revisionism at them.
Why is there now a widely accepted campaign to pretend the prequels weren't hated when they came out? Even if you love them, what is there to be gained from that? You don't see fans of John Carpenter's The Thing pretending that movie was beloved when it first came out

Prequel hatred by older fans is literally why the sequel trilogy is shit. Not even joking, they made a very conscious effort to not acknowledge anything from those movies in the ST. Abrams is also reportedly a massive prequel hater and wanted to "fix" the saga with his films.

Generally I don't think people have fully processed how incredibly & deeply evil the people that deliberately planned the destruction of a millions of year old biosphere actually & factually are.

The “everything is offensive/problematic” way of thinking really is the “everything is demonic” religious thinking, but for secular people. Just goes to show that no matter how hard people try, they can’t HELP but fall into religious ways of thinking and make religions.
We've sadly hit another puritanical stage of media consumption. Nothing can be sexual, nothing can be overtly violent, nothing can touch heavy topics, nothing can be problematic. If they do we get 400 word essays on why you need to be put on a list for engaging with it.

I think it's hilarious how tilted people still get when you say "Maybe the Star Wars Prequels weren't so bad". They act like you just challenged the post-war consensus of pop culture as if watching Jar Jar do stupid shit for one movie was their personal Pearl Harbor.

It's also better than parts of the OT, btw. It's Lucas channeling Lynch.
This scene alone is better than all 3 sequels

Why does an artist as interesting as Lynch have to have such rabid dogs for fans? All I'm saying is that this scene feels like LUCAS going for what HE thinks a Lynchian Star Wars scene would be like. Something he was clearly interested in, given that he wanted him to make Jedi.

The two of them also shared a collaborator/editor in Duwayne Dunham, so sorry for the absolute SIN of associating the two with one another. As for the scene itself: The setting is liminal, the mood is melodramatic, the music is oppressive and the zooms are surrealistic. There.
