🌱 We will stand our ground to protect the soil! Today, on #WorldSoilDay, we reaffirm our commitment to soil health and sustainable land management. Soil is not just dirt—it's the foundation of life, playing a critical role in food production, biodiversity, and climate resilience. The landowners across Europe know the importance of soil and the @EULandownersOrg carries on some significant projects to translate this commitment into concrete actions. @SOILGUARD_H2020: enhances the sustainable use of soil biodiversity to protect soil multifunctionality and increase economic, social and environmental wellbeing @SoilValues: aims at improving soil health, setting up value-based business models looking at incentives for land managers to apply regenerative farming practices into their production schemes. @SoilWiseproject: SoilWise will provide an integrated and actionable access point to scattered soil data and knowledge in Europe. @soill2030: is the Support Structure catering for the needs of Living Labs and Lighthouses funded under the Mission “A Soil Deal for Europe" @MICROSERVICES21: is understanding and predicting the impact of climate change on the crop-associated microbiome and its ecosystem services in the European wheat cropping systems. It promotes political and public awareness of the importance of microbial diversity for sustainable agriculture. @ClimateFarmDemo: accelerates the adoption of Climate Smart Farming (CSF) practices by farmers of the Climate Smart Agriculture Knowledge & Innovation Systems (AKIS) to adapt agricultural production systems to climate change and achieve a carbon-neutral sector by 2050. ELO also promotes innovation in soil-protection projects with the Land and Soil Management Award.
