Apple’s smallest iPad just got its biggest upgrade.
The new iPad mini goes OLED for the first time, and it’s the first iPad ever rated IP67 for water and dust resistance. $AAPL is asking $699, up $100 from the last model and below the $799 rumors.
What changed:
8.5 inch OLED display, up from 8.3 inches
14% thinner and 13% lighter
A20 Pro chip, the same silicon as the iPhone 18 Pro
Tops out at $1,249 fully loaded.
Preorders open Wednesday. On shelves November 6.
Dan Ives says 800 to 1,000 more data centers will be built in the US over the next few years.
The US already has roughly 5,400, the most of any country on earth. That’s another 15% to 18% on top of the existing footprint.
Each one needs enormous amounts of power, cooling and land.
The AI buildout isn’t slowing down. It’s just getting started.

SpaceX is lining up $40B in GPU financing with Apollo!
Under a binding commitment, an Apollo managed entity would buy GPU pods and lease them to SpaceX. The $40B represents expected principal payments over the leases, with financing costs on top. The agreement is expected to close by year end, with leases beginning as equipment arrives in 2027.
SpaceX is spreading the cost of its AI buildout over time. The question now is whether demand for that compute will justify the payments.

Anthropic’s IPO filing is now public, opening the door to a market debut before Thanksgiving.
The numbers being discussed are enormous: an offering of up to $100B at a $2T valuation. Anthropic has yet to confirm either figure, and the final size will depend on investor demand.
For context, SpaceX raised about $86B in its record IPO. If Anthropic comes close to the rumored target, it would set a new record and test how much public investors are willing to pay for AI growth amid soaring compute costs.

Trump says the US will not attack Iran before the November 3 midterms, citing “productive discussions” with Tehran.
That takes a US strike off the table for the next 11 days. It does not cover Israel, where Netanyahu is reportedly still weighing a unilateral move before his own election on October 27.

OpenAI is reportedly closing in on a funding round of up to $30B at a $1.25T valuation before the new money is counted.
UAE investors and Coatue are expected to lead the round, which could serve as a bridge to a potential 2027 IPO. OpenAI is also negotiating a UAE deal to secure more computing capacity.
The round is still being finalized. At this scale, raising capital and securing compute are becoming part of the same strategy.
