I finished building the interactive 3D book on GCSE and IGCSE Physics Electricity with Opus 5.5. It now has all seven lessons, from charge and current to mains and the plug. Publishing soon on my website.

Konvene started as something else entirely.. last week it was a webcam app that checks in on how you're feeling... it got too depressing to build.. so I dropped it then it became a multiplayer party game you play with your face.. expression controls were too fiddly and voice controls too loud.. dropped that too what survived was the face tech.. so now it's a video call app where blur, lighting, touch-up, captions and noise reduction all run on your own device calls go browser to browser, encrypted, nothing stored three names later.... it's live, free and open source :) konvene.app

BREAKING: Revolut moved ~2,000 engineers onto self-hosted GLM for coding and pushed Claude Code and Codex to the exception list. Per David Abitbol, who leads AI ops there: 56 Nvidia B200s, a blended 30 cents per million tokens, roughly a tenth of what they paid Anthropic and OpenAI. Engineering lead time improved 70%. Here's the part that matters: the gains showed up when tokens stopped being rationed. Engineers quit saving AI for the hard tickets and pointed it at everything. Frontier models become the exception, open weights become the default. That's a pricing problem for every lab heading to IPO. h/t @OliverMolander Would you move your team off frontier APIs if the bill dropped 90%?

I think it's time to retire the term "vibe coding" and to stop saying "I had Claude/Codex build XYZ" (I still keep saying it) At this point, when you say "I built XYZ" it's understood that you didn't write the code yourself. It's been a great term for a short era, @karpathy :)

Hey @Railway, is there a reason employee's of yours are trying to breach my infrastructure? Your employee Jake Runzer, just attempted to tonight.

one reason nvidia has been so hard to compete with is the amount of software work needed to get models running well on other hardware.. if agents can now do a good chunk of that work in 36 hours... that's a pretty big deal still a long way from proving it works at scale.. but I'm curious how much of their advantage will hold up as agents get better at this
Devin spent 36 hours and ~$2k getting a model running cheaply on Trainium, work that used to take specialist teams months. Serving AI on more available hardware is becoming more practical now that agents can cheaply automate porting and optimization work that use to require specialist teams. ⚡

🚨 HOLY CRAP! Dashcam video from just FEET AWAY shows the moment a Learjet 60 crashed in Palm Beach County, Florida These folks are SUPER lucky to be alive. Just INSANE.
🚨 JUST IN: HORRIFYING new video shows what’s reportedly a Learjet NOSEDIVING into the ground in Palm Beach County, Florida This is nightmare fuel. No word on the number of souls on board, but obviously, there’s practically zero chance of survival here.

Weekend hack: HackerTube. I was annoyed with YouTube's recommendations so I had Claude filter down 43M comments over 20 years of HN to 6,454 videos that keep being recommended. *Significantly* better viewing experience, ~2 hours with Opus 5.5: hackertube.org/ - Excellent recs without any logins (state is kept in local browser session) - Thumbnail is a representative frame from middle of the video instead of the super duper A/B test hyper-optimized user uploads - Underlying data from the comment analysis as one zip file, point your Claude at it and ask for your own version - HackerTube Longs ✊ A bit more on the process: I use Claude Code (desktop app for Mac), Opus 5.5 on Medium effort as my default. I only talk to Claude and have it do everything, the only "manual work" I helped with in tandem was in the browser (reminiscent of MenuGen): 1) I had to create some kind of API key from Google Cloud UI to query YouTube for video metadata, 2) I booted up a VPS box for serving and 3) I bought the domain name. Once the box was up I gave Claude the IP and told it update, secure, harden, deploy and optimize the code, and it did the whole thing. Many awesome projects that would have normally taken weeks/months even can now be few-shotted for breakfast. What else are we not thinking of.

Own your intelligence. Anyone that opposes this has something to sell you (perhaps your own intelligence back to you.) Local models need to continue proliferating. The “absolute unit” massive models may be out of reach for now locally, so your best option is to, indeed, keep your options open. Own your harness, data, connections, runtime: your agents. Embrace open source.

Ten million people have watched a comedian accidentally destroy the entire TED talk industry. He filmed the talk once at TEDxNewYork in 2014 and openly admitted he had nothing to say. Speaking coaches charge $5,000 to teach the exact tricks he used in 6 minutes to say nothing at all. His name is Will Stephen. He is a comedian from Late Night with Seth Meyers who was invited to give a real TED talk and used it to prove the format is a costume anyone can wear. Every TED speaker opens with a question, tells a personal story, cites a scientist, and shows a chart. Stephen did all four in six minutes with zero content. His entire formula fits on a napkin. Gesture with both hands. Ask the audience a question anyone can answer. Tell a mildly embarrassing story so they say aww. Point to a stranger on a slide and call them important. Flash a chart of random numbers. Wear glasses with no lenses. The audience will think you are brilliant. That last trick alone has probably cost the public speaking coaching industry a hundred million dollars in sessions clients should have skipped. "If you watched me on YouTube with the sound off, you would think I was a genius." That is Will Stephen on the TED stage, three minutes into the talk he was paid to give. He wasn't lying. Executives pay $15,000 for a keynote coach and still open with a joke the room never laughs at. Founders rehearse their pitch for weeks and still sound like Stephen at minute four, saying "wagga wah, gabba gabba" with authority. The talk is free on YouTube. The method is written across every TED speaker's playbook for ten years. Stephen still writes for Seth Meyers. Almost none of the ten million viewers have stopped nodding at empty slides since. The formula is free. The willingness to actually say something before your next keynote, pitch, or townhall is the entire edge.

Buying an iPhone Duo? Do these steps and thank me later. • Buy it offline. • Unbox it at an Apple Store. • Ask an Apple employee to witness the unboxing. • Fold and unfold it repeatedly during setup. • Repeat everything after booting. Don’t leave the store until your Duo survives its first durability test. 💀

PROTON SAYS 2026 IS ITS LAST YEAR HIRING ENGINEERS Proton is the Swiss company behind Proton Mail and Proton VPN. It sells privacy as the alternative to Big Tech. CEO Andy Yen wrote it to staff in Slack: "This will be the last year that we hire engineers." Starting next year, he said, Proton hires product managers to build things with AI. The CTO says AI wrote 90% of Proton's code in October, and a staffer who asked for security testing was told it was "loser thinking." Employees now face re-interviews on their AI use. An internal document says Proton is behind its revenue target and calls the company "underperforming." 🤔
New: you think you know Proton, but you really don't. I spoke to 8 current employees, got Slack chats, meeting audio, and an AI manifesto written by its CTO. “That’s bullshit and loser thinking,” Yen wrote. “Stop thinking always of how to be slower, and focus more on how to be faster.” CEO Andy Yen critiques AI in public. But inside, he is pushing everyone to use AI, even those with security concerns 404media.co/manifestos-fear-…

🚨 Critical Linux kernel TCP flaw enables remote root code execution; CVE-2026-98432 A race condition in the Linux kernel’s IPv4 TCP implementation can trigger a use-after-free before application authentication, potentially allowing an unauthenticated remote attacker to leak kernel memory, corrupt memory or crash the system. Anthropic says Claude developed a working exploit that executed attacker-chosen commands as root against Linux servers with a Multipath TCP listener. The exploit took approximately 53 minutes to complete during testing and has not been publicly released. ⠀ • CVSS: 9.8 Critical, according to the Linux kernel CVE team • Affected: Linux kernels beginning with version 4.4 • Fixed: 5.10.272, 5.15.223, 6.1.190, 6.6.159, 6.12.113, 6.18.56, 7.2.10 and 7.3 • Attack requirements: Network access, no credentials and no user interaction • Exploitation status: No known attacks in the wild ⠀ Ubuntu and Red Hat Enterprise Linux had not released corrected kernel packages as of October 29. Debian, Oracle Linux, Amazon Linux and SUSE have released fixes for at least some affected branches. Distribution severity ratings differ substantially. Red Hat rates the flaw 5.9 because it considers the race difficult to win and describes denial of service as the most likely practical impact.

‼️ Anthropic's official Claude Code extension was distributed with an SSH backdoor via Cursor's marketplace. A trojanized update (v2.1.313) targeted up to 5,000 users, according to Cursor. How attackers pushed it under the legitimate extension's identity remains unclear. Read: thehackernews.com/2026/10/of…

i'm convinced that the future belongs to the people who always straddled the middle and never fit in with either camp technical enough to figure things out with agentic support non-technical enough to experience joy and excitement rather than loss at what AI lets the world do
very weird thing happening rn technical people are sad, they think their skills are now useless non-technical people are desperately wishing they were more technical so they could use agents better
