The older I get, the more I see patriarchy as men's jealousy, fear and shame at knowing they're inferior to women. If women having freedom, power and choices threatens your masculinity, your masculinity was nothing but control dressed up as confidence.

A narcissist sometimes needs you to “betray” them. It gives them the excuse. They cannot hold what they did, so they build a story where you hurt them first, you ruined it, and they were the victim. Your mistake becomes the exit from accountability. The lies, the neglect, the damage get buried under one thing you did. If you refuse to play the villain, they will still find a reason to discard you. Being good to them does not protect you. It only removes the excuse they wanted.
