@teslasi @elonmusk @aelluswamy @wholemars @ChuckCook @DirtyTesLa FSD news, predictions and speculations Now as we have some news from the earrings call, it is time to update my thoughts on where we are with FSD. FSD v15 - RoboTaxi - Houston. I can confirm the ramp up in availability that Ashok reported in the earnings call. Houston has been active for a while, but with very limited availability. This weekend I attempted to get a ride, and I got one with around 10 min of waiting on a Sunday afternoon. I tried twice before a few weeks ago with no luck. FSD v15 felt smoother than v14.3.5 but it is hard to tell them apart. As availability is now good within the small Houston Geofence and Ashok is saying they are ramping fast. I think we can hope for a much bigger Houston Geofence very soon. FSD Hardware. With the news of FSD v15 running on the RoboTaxis I am sticking with my prediction that the RoboTaxis are running 2xAI4 computers on FSD v15. 2 of them are needed for redundancy. The second computer is located in the mystery box in the rear window. AI4+. What is the point of upgrading the AI4 system when AI5 is coming soon? There must be a good reason for doing this as this update is not free... My thinking is that AI4 is now pushed to its very limit with v15. Tesla have realized that AI4 will not get approved for unsupervised due to the lack of fault tolerance / redundancy. AI4+ will be fitted to Cybercab for it to only use one FSD computer. Where does this put all of us with AI4 cars ?. I think there will be an announcement saying something like AI4+ will need for unsupervised and that upgrades will be available from AI4 to AI4+ FSD 14 lite is great, and it is good to see that Tesla are investing in the older Hardware, but AI3 will obviously never be unsupervised. Elon made some interesting comments about the upgrade plan, so I think we will get an AI3 to AI5 upgrade in the future. No point of upgrading to AI4 as AI4+ / AI5 is incoming. Ashok/Elon and the TeslaAI team are doing amazing stuff, and I am the number one fan, but even they have to work within the laws of reality. FSD is a Software - Hardware problem and now they are getting closer to a good software / model and hardware combination. From my point of view the news from the earing call is good. They are clearly making good progress, and exciting progress is coming soon. Let's see how it pans out. I think it is time to buy some Tesla stock.

Awesome post from Houston Police. Tesla is making Sci-Fi real! – at Missouri City, TX
There has never been an excuse to drink and drive. With @Tesla expanding their Cybercab/Robotaxi services area across #Houston, there are more ways than ever to get home safely after a night out. Plan ahead, make the smart choice, and never get behind the wheel impaired. #DontDrinkAndDrive

The amount of FOMO I have for Cybercab is completely off the charts. I need this somewhere along the east coast asap or I’m going to freak out.

Our first view of a new Starlink V3 in orbit. Captured on September 30 from approximately 230 km with 34 cm/px resolution, this is an early look at the next generation satellite in the Starlink constellation. Two solar arrays are deployed, with the spacecraft in an expected orientation as it raises orbit. The V3s will now move towards their operational altitudes, bringing them closer to HEO’s current network and enabling higher-resolution imagery as they climb.

This is extremely impressive. Doing this for a human would take a lot of work and time. Superintelligence ?

Interesting news. I just got this email from Tesla. Powerwall3 to 2 expansion available! The big question now. Will powersall2 support MYL V2L..? I have heard that this is planned by the end of the year. – at Missouri City, TX

If you’d like a visual on that:
For electricity generation in Texas (primarily the ERCOT grid, which covers ~90% of the state’s load), the most recent complete full-year figures are for 2025. Natural gas remained the largest source, followed by wind, with solar surpassing coal as the third-largest source for the first time.10 Approximate full-year 2025 shares of energy supplied on the ERCOT grid (percentages of total generation; minor variations exist depending on exact categorization of gas plants and inclusion of small-scale/other sources): •Natural gas: ~41% (often broken out as combined-cycle ~33% + other natural gas ~8%) •Wind: ~23% •Solar: ~14% •Coal: ~13% •Nuclear: ~8% •Other (hydro, biomass, storage net, etc.): ~1% Renewables (wind + solar) together supplied about 37%. Natural gas is the primary dispatchable resource.0 Statewide utility-scale figures for 2025 (including non-ERCOT areas) show a somewhat higher natural gas share: natural gas ~48.7%, wind ~21.9%, coal ~11.6%, solar ~9.9%, nuclear ~7%, with the rest under 1% (other gases, hydro, biomass, petroleum). Small-scale solar added further generation.7 Context and more recent trends Texas generates more electricity than any other U.S. state. Shares fluctuate significantly by season, time of day, and weather (higher solar in summer afternoons; higher wind at night or in spring; thermal plants cover more during high demand or low renewable output). Battery storage capacity has grown substantially but contributes modestly on a net-energy basis. Partial 2026 data (e.g., early months or specific periods like July) show continued solar growth (sometimes averaging higher shares around 18% in periods), wind varying widely (e.g., lower in summer), and natural gas adjusting accordingly (often in the 40%+ range during peaks). Real-time mixes can be checked on the ERCOT Fuel Mix dashboard or EIA grid monitors; a sample mid-August 2026 daily mix for the Texas region showed roughly natural gas 35%, wind 30%, solar 18%, coal 11%, and nuclear 7% (with battery storage net negative as it charged).33 Note that these are generation (energy production) shares, not installed capacity. Renewables have lower capacity factors than thermal or nuclear plants, so capacity mixes differ (more wind/solar capacity relative to their energy output). Primary energy production in Texas is dominated by oil and natural gas extraction (Texas leads the U.S. in both), but the question’s reference to a “mix” with figures aligns with electricity generation sources.

New Tesla FSD technical talk. For the first time, we learn fascinating details of how they train their end to end AI model and it turns out it’s exactly how humans learn. When we first learn any complex task like driving, our conscious mind (cortex) is fully focused on all the little details our instructor has told us to focus on. Are you centered in your lane? Look out for stop signs. Pay attention to stop lights. We are so mentally overloaded that we don’t drive very well. But what we are doing through cortex guided practice is training our unconscious brain areas (basal ganglia and cerebellum) to drive without our conscious cortex having to pay attention to and direct everything. After many hours of practice we have effectively coded an end to end neural network in our brains that allow us to drive without much conscious thought at all. This is exactly how Tesla trains their end to end FSD v14. In the data center, they use labeled training videos which tells the model being trained to pay attention to lane markings, stop signs and street lights. But the resultant created model doesn’t have any explicit sections that look for these cues, it is all implicitly baked in the single end to end model that the car uses to drive. Before FSD 12, the AI running in the car did have a 100 different feature detectors, which is why it drove like a brand new driver. It turns out that none of that engineering work was wasted, they still use it, but only when training a new model from scratch. And yes, this has direct applicability to training Optimus. Much more info in the talk, including how VLAs fit into this picture. Start the video around 6m50s to skip stuff you already know. youtu.be/cjzFjeSmh8M?feature…

And we have pictures of Forte off the coast of Christmas Island! The semi-submersible vessel has structures on its deck, allowing Ship 40 to be secured to the deck during the trip to Starbase. Reportedly they are planning to load S40 tomorrow. 📸 instagram.com/chrisbrayphoto…
Semi-submersible vessel Forte has arrived near Ship 40 (and Normand Ranger) at Christmas Island after departing from Singapore 3 days ago. Hopefully we'll soon get some pictures from locals of the vessels together.
