22 years ago today, Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh (pictured) was cycling to work in Amsterdam. He never made it because he was assassinated by Mohammed Bouyeri, a 26-year-old Dutch-Moroccan Muslim man, who was offended by Van Gogh having dared to make a short film that criticised the treatment of women in Islam. Bouyeri shot him multiple times, slit his throat, then pinned a 5 page jihadist manifesto to his chest. The manifesto was primarily a direct death threat against Ayaan Hirsi Ali, the scriptwriter of the short film (‘Submission’). It called her a heretic and an ‘unbelieving fundamentalist’ who would be ‘smashed against the hard diamond of Islam.’ It also threatened Dutch politicians, labelling them under the control of a ‘Jewish cabal’, and called for the death of ‘unbelievers.’ To this day, Ayaan Hirsi Ali still faces persistent death threats and requires ongoing security protection. Throughout this period, rather than standing resolutely with her (and others like her) against the ideology that threatened her life and claimed Theo’s, swathes of the liberal establishment, and almost all so called ‘anti-racist’ and ‘feminist’ progressives, labelled her an ‘Islamophobe’ and, in essence, echoed the censorious dogma espoused by the jihadists. This crime, though not the first, was a harbinger of what was to come. It is not receiving much attention today, but it should. (P.s. Apologies, I accidentally deleted the first version of this post).

This is no longer about approval. European governments, at the behest of their automakers, have decided to kill FSD by a death of a thousand handicaps and discredits. Instead of a blanket prohibition, they neuter it into something no one wants.

Don’t get your hopes up. The EU version is but a weak, slow, overprotective and maximum sloth mode version of the US. After the initial excitement, people are now going back to driving manually more and more. We need at least a normal mode for it to have real value

The Learjet 60 with registration N722BD is legally registered to a shell company called LR60271 LLC, located in Wilmington, Delaware. According to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) records, this corporate entity has held the valid registration certificate since January 4, 2023. The LLC name appears to directly reference the aircraft's model (LR60)&its manufacturer serial number, which is 271. Because Delaware LLCs are often utilized for privacy&tax purposes, the underlying individual owner or operator is hidden behind this entity.

@Grok run my comparative analysis here: I see this as similar to flight operations. When weather is nasty and visibility are at minimums, operations are suspended until weather clears. As good as Tesla Vision is, I would think in downpour and blizzard conditions, operations would be suspended in kind for safety.

Once Arlington, TX is captured by Robotaxi, it’s game over. DFW is won. The Cowboys and Rangers stadiums/parks market is waiting to be taken.

You know what activist investors are. Some are political fronts like CalPERS. Others seek short-term gains irrespective of whether their moves will soon bankrupt the company, like Sears’s fate.

Yeah, the worst thing about X now is the AI replies. Worse, I used to do lots of short replies to people and now I don't because I think I'm starting to sound like AI. Really reduced the social part here, which is why I like joining audio spaces here. So far those are safe from AI and I've made many friends there that I end up meeting in real life. I don't know how to solve it, and I have a feeling it will get worse as AI gets smarter about how to interact with people. I don't even block them anymore. Too tiring. Well, I still appreciate human replies. Or, at least, the AI ones that add value.
Each of my posts has dozens of obvious and numbing AI slopreplies. Worse, when humans really do reply (real example: someone from Anthropic addressing the issue I posted about), the "replies" algorithm does not surface them first You can't really call this social media anymore.

Waymo + Toyota will fail. Japanese OEMs (and their regulators) have spent years actively resisting real EVs and autonomy. The most likely outcome is Toyota absorbing Waymo’s tech, integrating it into their vehicles, and eventually presenting it as a homegrown Japanese solution. The culture gap is fatal. American tech companies iterate or die. Japanese corporate culture protects the existing model even as competitors erase their lead. That difference doesn’t get bridged by a supply deal.
Just In: Toyota and Waymo Advance Autonomous Driving Collaboration for Safer Streets and Freedom of Movement for All Building on the preliminary agreement announced in April 2025, Toyota and Waymo will begin initial operations to test and validate an autonomous Toyota bZ4X fleet in Japan in 2027, with deployment to the United Kingdom and other Waymo-serviced markets planned for the following years. This partnership marks a major milestone in the expansion of Japan’s first fully autonomous ride-hailing service using high-volume, domestically manufactured vehicles. Toyota will build the vehicles at its Takaoka plant in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. The entire process will take place under one roof, from assembling the base vehicle to integrating Waymo’s AV hardware.
