Gonna do this slowly to make sure everyone understands.
First: how to measure the performance of a bat.
You can’t simply measure exit velocity. You MUST measure both bat speed and exit velocity, then find the ratio. The higher the number, the hotter the bat.
Fitting matters.
Attn Players: your coach has likely seen your story a million times, and knows how it’s going to end before you do…and is wanting the ending to be better than some he’s witnessed…

Since the Reinold study seems to be making the rounds again, here's your annual reminder that if this is how you program "weighted ball" work for kids and teenagers you're an asshole.
The throwing program these kids were put through for this study is described as "...based on experience and is similar to, if not more conservative than, commonly performed commercially available programs for baseball pitchers".
Somebody please point me in the diretion of the throwing program is that commonly asks kids to make more than 100 throws with a 32oz ball over the course of 6 weeks.
In a world of conditions that sometimes aren’t accessible, this place is a great opportunity to play excellent condition conditions at a normal price
Another proud primate moment: My favorite muni, Clearwater Country Club, is walk mowing on the weekends to upgrade the experience for public golfers. I am a big fan of walking the cleanups for plant health through the season.
If you pay to play golf in the Tampa/St. Pete/Clearwater area you should consider playing at Clearwater CC; it is a Herbert Strong/Perry Maxwell gem with fantastic #nichegrass greens. Speaking of walk(ing) you can walk the course too. Weather is stunning; so go get some Vitamin D and a frozen transfusion. I hear they are quite popular.
I know a local instructor who never used weighted balls and two of his guys had TJ heading into college. So there’s that too.
Weighted balls added 3.3% pitch velocity in a 6-week RCT of 38 pitchers ages 13 to 18. The same group had a 24% injury rate: 4 elbow injuries, 2 during the program and 2 the following season. The control group throwing regulation balls had zero injuries. Shoulder external rotation rose 4.3 degrees in the weighted group.
Strong foundational strength levels (balanced #90mphformula metrics) and full arm and body assessment should be a precursor to high intent overload balls.
My reaction when I make it to the counter @ChickfilA by 10:29:59 am.
Because when 10:30 hits, it’s as if they’ve never heard of the fact they serve breakfast….
Meanwhile...in baseball, instructors are dying of the hill that ball flight physics don't matter, and instead you should be "short to it, and long through it"...and magically from there, physics doesn't apply.
Trust them, bro.

How much does driver distance change when you alter speed, loft and AoA? The 🤖 has some answers.
Attempted to break down the data findings in the latest robotic analysis piece for @GolfDigest.

Any coaches have @AWRE_Sports and @TrackManBB? Possibly adding TrackMan and I want to know about the ease of use of the two systems together.
Replying to @TheDataCage
They aren’t mad, they just think you’re insane. Yea, let’s teach kids to have a long approach to the ball, cut off the swing at contact, and then create top spin junk balls. Nobody having success with that nonsense. I wouldn’t care other than I’d imagine you are actually teaching this and destroying kids chance at success.

I simply don’t have the bandwidth…plus…why is it upon me to learn stuff for others? I don’t even coach kids and I’m the one supposed to be in charge of their learning? That the coach’s job…
I’ll never be able to wrap my head around this…people just shrug their shoulders at the fact of no golf for 5-6 months.
Such a diverse country.
Sadly, the end of the season has come. Course will be closing soon.
The game makes me insane but it really sucks that for the next 6 months there won’t be any golf at home. I’ll miss it.
My weekly game is a bunch of good dudes and we have a lot of fun.
Rivers Edge is a great course, in great shape. We are very lucky to have such a great course.
It was a perfect day to end the season, great group, amazing weather, even made a few bucks with a skin.
Till next season. It’s going to be the year I win the City Open. I just know it.
All this data is free on Baseball Savant. (It is “LASS”, btw. Not SSLA.)
Not only that, but you can learn the VBA (tilt) and AoA of every swing/player.
I hope yall are ready to learn how much Freddie Freeman swings upward. 😜
