This has been SOOOO much better. Balance is so much nicer with Amad combining on RHS and Mbeumo down the middle is a chance magnet, top movement and instinct of a lethal forward. Really pleased with the sharpness and application of the backline too. Baleba so important.

Got a funny feeling about tomorrow (in a good way). Often a switch of focus to a different competition can be a positive (he says, after the Carabao game vs Brighton 🥲), but a big win away in Europe can shift momentum. Lots of collective issues still, but have a good feeling.

The amount of goals we concede from poor defending/mistakes from Lisandro Martinez… don’t feel like it gets talked about enough. Any CB with physical presence probably prevents Solanke from getting a touch to that cross yesterday and the ball probably goes out for a goal-kick…

Amad starting? Wowww didn’t expect that, as per reports looked like he’d be out for a little longer. Yoro starts as well, feels like a big few months for him.

Hull (A) Ipswich (H) Everton (A) City (H) Fulham (A) 5 points from 5 games. Would have demanded min 10 pts before start of season.

Draw was the most we deserved from that game, nothing more. Huge concerns going into internationals regarding fitness of the squad, balance of the attack, in-game management from the manager. Seen Chelsea and Palace go there and score 3 each, we struggled to get 1.

Huge slice of luck. But you move Cunha towards the left inside channel and you get him in those sort of positions, rather than receiving back to goal vs CBs, and we get a goal out of it. Luck but you earn your luck and you get your players in the best zones possible.

Once again, extremely one-dimensional subs, and in my eyes the potential biggest impact sub is left on the bench, you couldn’t write it really. Carrick will naturally already be under huge pressure and you can’t really argue with that.

So many low quality, speculative efforts ugh. Really concerned about the way this season is panning out with the manager + the profiles we have in attack when Amad isn’t playing. Felt the same under ETH when Amad wasn’t in the front 3, we had so much imbalance. Feels same rn.

Any chance of trying anything different gaffer? Personnel or shape wise? We’re currently letting the game pass before our eyes with the same intentions, same personnel, same poor execution in final 3rd, and we’re just gonna sit here and hope it improves in the next 20 mins?

Cunha’s role in that goal btw… that comes from him being in a battle vs Bassey as the CF, simply where he shouldn’t be. Mbeumo should be the CF, pretty certain he wouldn’t let Bassey take it off him that easy. Goal comes from dynamics of front 3 not being right.

It’s Lacey time, Carras. You should be starting him right now, worst case scenario you have to be bringing him on after an hour. Look at this front 3 and how can you tell us this is optimal?

We’re not fit. Few yards off in many actions, that little spell Fulham just had was really concerning tbh. Fulham players running off ours, not getting close enough to their attackers, we’re just a few yards off it and it’s so visible.

That one-two from Iwobi??? Genuinely just runs off Tielemans and then Maguire looks like he’s stuck in the mud. There’s such a lack of intensity and sharpness without the ball, and it’s not purely personnel driven, this is a collective issue.

Not keen on the attack again, don’t like the balance at all. We haven’t got loads of options but think it’s about time Lacey was trusted to start in PL but Carrick must feel it’s too early? Glad Shaw is back in the XI at least.

That Zirkzee cameo yesterday… probably one of the worst I’ve ever seen. Against Sabah he looked really up for it, (easy environment to come on in), but when the going was tough yesterday he had absolutely zero interest in turning the situation around for us. Mentality ❌ .

Rashford’s heavy touches during 1 vs 1s costing him a couple of times in that first half. Just don’t think we’ll ever see him get that consistent technical security that will stop him being a consistent top attacking player. Will offer patches of quality but we need more.

We’re seeing the same issues from years and years ago. Rashford coming back just sums up where this club is at the moment — symbolic of a club that’s not progressing forward anytime soon.

Henry on Rashford: " You open the goal up. Just finish it. Place it, why hard? Side foot, goal. See you later." Evra: " Not everyone has your brain Henry." Henry: " I know but you have one, use it." [@primevideosport]
