Good night @Kangarooei followers. Many followers would have heard about Kevin the Koala who lives here with his partner Audrey. Here is their son who is climbing a Manor Gum I planted 40 years ago for the Koalas, one of their favourites to eat. Happy for the night. Sleep well. 🦘

Why are peatlands burning?
Indonesia’s estimated 24.2 million hectares of peatland are vulnerable to fire, with 16.4 million hectares degraded and at risk. The primary cause is industrial-scale plantations for timber, pulp and paper, rice paddies and palm oil. To cultivate these lands, Indonesia drains peatlands with extensive canal networks stretching about 285,000 kilometres. This drainage leads to water flowing into rivers or the sea, leaving the dried peatlands susceptible to burning, particularly during severe El Niño years that bring drought to Indonesia.

1/ If glyphosate is being sprayed the council may find themselves held responsible for perceived health risks.
