1000 days ago we woke up to my then 3 year old asking me if I could turn that horrible sound (of gunshots and explosions) off, because it’s scary. My heart goes out to everyone especially those parenting while surviving this war in Sudan and elsewhere. May it all end everywhere.

I cannot overstate the power of doing your work as an artist; of creating your own venues, opportunities, and spaces; of challenging the constructs that disallow your voice to be heard—thereby leaving a trail for others. —Danielle Legros Georges

I'm grateful to everyone who has either shared, donated or mentioned it to someone else. I deeply appreciate it. I'm currently on $633 out of the $5100 goal. I'd appreciate your donations and sharing. Thank you. 🤲 I'm grateful to the community for the help so far.
I'm happy to share that I was accepted by two MFA programs: University of Alabama and University of Tennessee creative writing programs in poetry. Getting accepted into an MFA program means that I have the chance to further learn more about what I love to do best; writing.

Feels like it’s been forever since I’ve had a new poem drop. Here’s a new duplex in @NewOhioReview that explores how our relationships with our parents continue to shape later relationships.

Two poems from “The Year of Blood” appear in the latest issue of @Transition_Mag. In these poems, I am examining the constrictive and spiritual possibilities of migration. Lived experiences & cases of sacrifice. Family. Loss. Everything language can perform. Big thank you to @tlarklark PC: @NebeolisaO
