There is zero evidence Cho repaid anything and the governtment knew in 2023 about issues with career colleges and OSAP... in what world is a three year delay 'acting quickly'?!
Premier Ford faced tough questions on the alleged misuse of public money on the first day of the fall sitting. Ford defended Stan Cho’s $22,500 pay bump.: "I fired him from being a minister. He admitted he made a mistake. He's paid it back, and now he's going to be a parliamentary assistant." He also insisted his government was quick to act to stop "fraudsters" from exploiting the OSAP system Day 1 RECAP:

Today CBC published an article with the headline: “Why a spate of gun-for-hire shootings in Toronto were likely paid for by Iran.” I was intrigued, as there has been almost 0 evidence offered for this claim thus far. Unfortunately this article doesn’t offer any either, adding nothing new. CBC says they spent weeks on the investigation, so these are pretty pitiful results, at least in terms of finding evidence of who paid for the shootings. I’m not sure why they feel comfortable with such a declarative headline given the lack of evidence (other than journalistic standards going out the window when the subject is an Official Enemy country). Also, CBC and other journalists continue platforming police claims that they need backdoor access to messaging apps to solve these shootings, with no push back or critique about how these powers can be abused, including against journalists. cbc.ca/news/investigates/ira…

Spineless delegation to the medical profession of interpreting the Criminal Code, without any transparency or accountability. Shameful doesn’t even begin to describe this.
Replying to @kurtgoddard
They said it's about clinical practice, and that provinces and territories will work with clinicians on guidelines. The bill sets rules for refusal and doubt. It doesn't say how to tell a refusal from an involuntary reaction, or require anyone to review a disputed call. 2/

A thread on today's MAID legislation.
The federal government introduced Bill C-41 today. It would let MAiD be approved after a person can no longer consent. If they pull their arm away as the needle goes in, a clinician decides whether that means no. I asked officials what in the bill guides that call. 1/

And then Doug Ford blew that wide open
💥EXPLOSIVE ATIP: Immigration Canada knew Indian agents were running MASSIVE FRAUD in the trucking industry and the student visa program as early as 2017 — and stamped the evidence "DO NOT DISCLOSE." According to records released under the Access to Information Act, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) maintained an internal procedures manual for its New Delhi visa office documenting systemic fraud across the student visa and temporary foreign worker streams. The manual instructs officers to treat fraud as anticipated rather than exceptional The most damning thing about this scandal is not the fraud — it's that the government predicted it, kept it running, and then stamped the file "DO NOT DISCLOSE." Canada didn't lose control of its immigration system—they monetized it.

Same bullshit as the feds and how they excused the ridiculous joke of the CDB, designed “with the importance of work” for their reasoning as to why it’s so low bc it’s considered a “supplemental” income. But for most PWD, provincial disability is the ONLY source of income.

they were also designed NOT TO BE FULLY SUPPORTIVE OF LIVING, ONLY A SUPPLEMENT. they were designed w/ the assumption that all disabled people have families that will pick up the slack. they were designed to not be enough for true independence, even back then.

Disability support systems were designed decades ago, and often fail to account for current living costs, modern assistive technologies, or the true expenses associated with living with a disability.

Zero chance this guy or any other MP actually believes it's bad that only rich people can afford kids. This is the dream. We're weeding out the useless eaters. Eugenics is back in style baby!
As my wife and I prepare to welcome our 7th child, we see how things have changed from when we started out. Parliament must work to make it easier to start and grow a family. Let's make life affordable, leave flexible, and the sublime joy of parenthood available to all.

essential reading! free online!
Unravelling MAiD (linked in the thread & available online for free) is a required read authored by field & patient experts. It’s a critical examination of Canada’s death program through the lens of law, policy, ethics, disability rights & more. I highly encourage you to read it

Life and death legislation being politically manipulated by combining two separate issues into one single vote. Sums up MAID in Canada. You can make a choice, no one said it would be a fair one. Autonomy under the government's purview.
1/ Ottawa will introduce legislation tomorrow about #MAID. The legislation is expected to exclude MAID for people whose sole condition is a mental illness and allow provinces and territories to set out conditions for advance requests for MAID.

Some of the replies are hilarious. Somehow the federal Conservatives are too MAGAty for Canadians but Danielle Smith & Doug Ford are perfectly acceptable. Joke used to be we needed civics classes, we need to start with basic logical thinking.
Conservatives now governing in 7 provinces and one territory. On the rise in Quebec. And yet at the federal level they're flat on their back.

Why is it, no matter where you live in canada or what form of support you're receiving, federal or provincial, there is nowhere where a single person with a disability can afford to rent a 1 bedroom apartment and afford utilities and groceries? It's like they want us dead.
