My books are fiction, but the themes they cover are all too real. amazon.co.uk/Forced-Covert-A… #CutTheChase
A number of greyhound breeding facilities in Ireland are set to feature in an investigative documentary tomorrow. The documentary featured undercover footage obtained by Animal Aid - the charity behind a Panorama exposé on horse slaughter a few years ago. 🧡

What a world we're living in. Please donate to this wonderful animal charity if you can. donate.mylovelyhorserescue.c…
πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ’”ABSOLUTELY HEARTBROKEN AND DEVASTATED πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ’” Last night, our My Lovely Vintage Edenderry and My Lovely Hoofs & Boots shop in Edenderry was broken into and completely wrecked.πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ’” Someone smashed their way through the front window, broke windows at the back and went on to destroy so much inside. Items were smashed, things that we had treasured and used as displays for years were ruined, and the whole place was left in an awful state. πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ’” There is no money in this shop. It is a CHARITY SHOP. Every single penny we raise goes towards helping us run My Lovely Animal Horse Rescue and care for the animals who depend on us. We honestly cannot understand why someone would do this. We are already working so hard, taking one step forward and what feels like twenty steps backwards. This is another devastating blow for our little rescue.πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ’” We want to say a massive thank you to An Garda SΓochΓ‘na for responding, catching the person responsible, removing him from the premises and, most importantly, staying with us until the premises was secured and boarded up. We are genuinely grateful for their help and support. β€οΈπŸ’” Our thoughts are also with our wonderful shop manager and all our volunteers. We are so, so sorry that you have had to witness this and deal with the aftermath. We know how much love, time and effort you put into the shop πŸ’”πŸ’” To everyone in Edenderry who has sent messages and well wishes, thank you. Your kindness means more than you know.πŸ’”πŸ’” Sadly, our charity shop will remain CLOSED for the foreseeable future while we try to repair the damage and get everything back up and running. We will keep everyone updated.πŸ’” If you can donate, no matter how big or small, please consider supporting My Lovely Horse Rescue at this incredibly difficult time.πŸ’”πŸ’” Our animals still need us. The bills don't stop, the feed doesn't stop, and the care doesn't stop.πŸ’”πŸ’” We are heartbroken, we are angry, and today we are picking ourselves up yet again.πŸ’”πŸ’” donate.mylovelyhorserescue.c… Thank you for standing with us.

Happy Days! Old Arkansas dog track is now the new home of $2.3 million animal shelter. cdcgaming.com/city-of-west-m… "The City of West Memphis and Southland Casino Hotel last week celebrated the opening of the new $2.3 million Carolyn and Ness Securest Animal Shelter & Adoption Center, a modern and spacious facility providing a safe and comfortable place for dogs and cats while they await their forever homes. Southland and parent company Delaware North contributed $1.7 million toward the construction of the animal shelter at the site of the former Mid-South Greyhound Adoption Center at 1800 Southland Drive behind the casino in West Memphis. The City of West Memphis, members of the community, and the Arkansas Greyhound Kennel Association, in collaboration with Southland, also contributed to the project."

Margo is a worried girl but has alot of potential to improve quickly. She just needs a family πŸ™πŸ» She’s around 5yrs old and has likely never had a good time in her life. It’s sad it has to take so long for so many rescue dogs to find good homes. Will you share Margo ? Her kennel friend Tiara is off soon to live her sweet life. Let’s share and do the same for Margo β™₯οΈπŸ™πŸ»

I think this is a genius thing, and especially useful now. @DogsTrust have added a Sound Blanket to their website (link below), developed in collaboration with @SalfordUni. It uses acoustic science to mask the bangs of #fireworks and may calm dogs down. dogstrust.org.uk/dog-advice/…

Jesse Adams came from Canada to rescue animals near the front line in Ukraine. On 25 October, a Russian FPV drone hit his car in Kramatorsk just after the animals had been loaded inside. The drone struck the windshield. Doctors at a local hospital operated and tried to resuscitate him but could not save him, his team at Animal Rescue Kharkiv says. Jesse founded RainCoast Dog Rescue Society in Canada in 2014 and joined Animal Rescue Kharkiv in May. A few days before he was killed, he wrote that volunteers had rescued 80 dogs and cats in Kramatorsk in one day: "These poor animals do not understand war and are simply innocent victims of another country invading Ukraine… It breaks my heart that we even have to do this type of work, but it is my privilege and honour to be a small part of helping these animals reach a better life." πŸ“· Animal Rescue Kharkiv

πŸ’” IN MEMORY OF JESSE ADAMS β€” A TRUE HERO FOR ANIMALS πŸ’” It is with enormous sadness that we have learned of the tragic death of Jesse Adams, founder of RainCoast Dog Rescue Society in Canada, who lost his life while carrying out an animal rescue mission in one of the most dangerous areas of Ukraine. Jesse dedicated his life to saving animals, even when it meant putting his own life at risk. We first came to know Jesse in 2021, when Afghanistan fell to the Taliban. Jesse and RainCoast were among the extraordinary organisations that came together to assist KSAR with the evacuation of 285 cats and dogs, helping many find loving forever homes. Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Jesse travelled to the border to help fleeing families and their pets, providing veterinary care, supplies and assistance getting animals to safety. He returned repeatedly, undertaking increasingly dangerous missions. Most recently, Jesse worked alongside Animal Rescue Kharkiv, rescuing hundreds of animals from devastated frontline communities under constant threat from drones, missiles and artillery. These were extraordinary acts of compassion and courage in the face of unimaginable danger. Jesse knew the risks. He knew every mission could be his last. Yet he continued because he believed animals caught in conflict deserved protection just as much as those living in peace. Those of us working in animal rescue in conflict zones understand and accept these risks. But few possess the courage to repeatedly travel towards danger when everyone else is trying to escape it. Jesse was one of those very special people. His death is a devastating loss to his family, friends, RainCoast and the international animal rescue community. Our hearts go out to everyone who knew and loved him, particularly the Ukrainian rescuers who worked alongside him. His legacy lives on in every animal he saved and every rescuer he inspired. Rest in peace, Jesse. The world has lost an extraordinary human being, and the animals have lost a true champion. πŸΎπŸ’” With love and deepest respect, Louise and everyone at War Paws #JesseAdams #RainCoastDogRescue #WarPaws #Ukraine #AnimalRescue

It is terrifying that The Handmaid's Tale is a reality for so many people.
The Handmaid’s Tale is fiction for you. For us, it’s real life. In Poland, I spoke about the victims of Auschwitz and the people massacred by the Islamic Republic in Iran. History teaches us what happens when the world looks away. We must remember the victims, confront tyranny, and refuse to let another massacre be met with silence. #Iran
