German company KNDS Deutschland is promoting its Boxer RCT30 wheeled infantry fighting vehicle, known as the Schakal in Germany, as suited to countering drones.
The 8×8 vehicle pairs the Boxer chassis with the unmanned RCT30 turret from the Puma, carrying a 30 mm automatic cannon that can fire programmable airburst rounds. KNDS said it is “ideally suited for countering state-of-the-art threats, such as drones,” though it did not detail new counter-drone equipment or recent tests.
Germany and the Netherlands have ordered large numbers through ARTEC. Their combined orders for the Schakal have grown to roughly 185 for Germany and 106 for the Netherlands. According to KNDS, the vehicle can engage moving targets on the move and provide counter-drone and anti-aircraft capabilities. It also carries the MELLS anti-tank missile system.
The Boxer has a maximum speed of more than 100 kilometres per hour (62 miles per hour). The counter-drone claims remain company statements.

Two significant developments in Estonia's defence preparations this week:
Baltic Defence Line:
• Estonia's Supreme Court has cleared the way for the procurement of 600 concrete bunkers along its eastern border.
• Installation is targeted for completion by the end of 2027.
• A contract could be signed as early as March 2027.
Counter-drone capabilities:
• Parliament advances legislation to expand electronic jamming powers.
• Currently, jamming authority is largely tied to specific locations or facilities.
•The proposal would allow authorised responders to counter threats wherever they emerge, including near critical infrastructure.
• Estonia's Defence League would gain additional jamming powers.
Estonia is moving to strengthen both its physical border defences and its ability to respond to emerging drone threats.

Surrounded by towering mountains, approximately 53 American soldiers fought desperately to defend the outpost against overwhelming odds.
After hours of intense fighting, the attack was repelled. Eight American soldiers were killed and 22 wounded.
The battle became known as the **Battle of Kamdesh**, one of the fiercest engagements of the Afghanistan War.

This is eye-opening. Europe’s share of global tech R&D has collapsed from 23% in 2005 to just 8% today, while the US has climbed to 62% and China has risen from near zero to 15%. South Korea now outspends Germany, France, the UK, and Italy combined in tech R&D. Yep, you read that right.
This is the predictable result of policy choices that systematically favor control and redistribution over growth. Layered regulation, data rules, AI restrictions, labor rigidities, and precautionary frameworks, raises the cost and slows the pace of turning ideas into products, forcing companies to spend scarce resources on compliance rather than experimentation. High taxation and expansive redistributive systems extract capital that would otherwise fund private R&D and risk-taking, while shrinking the after-tax reward for building something new and scaling it. The broader left-leaning mindset that prioritizes equality of outcome over dynamism treats entrepreneurial success as something to be managed, taxed, or shared rather than unleashed and rewarded.
Places that protect the returns to innovation and keep barriers low continue to pull ahead, attracting talent and capital that Europe increasingly loses. Europe’s relative decline is the cumulative outcome of treating dynamism as a problem to be regulated rather than the engine of prosperity. Without a shift toward lighter rules, lower burdens on enterprise, and greater tolerance for unequal outcomes from unequal effort, the gap will keep widening, and Europe will become an open-air museum for wealthy Americans and Asians.

🇵🇱🇺🇸 POLAND WINS EUROPE'S PATRIOT MISSILE MAINTENANCE HUB
Poland has beaten Germany, the Netherlands and Norway to host a major new European servicing facility for Lockheed Martin's PAC-3 Patriot interceptors.
Key details:
• Investment: ~PLN 1 billion ($253 million).
• Expected to become operational in roughly 12–18 months.
• It will be the first facility of its kind outside the US.
• Will handle repairs, refurbishment and re-certification of PAC-3 interceptors.
Why does this matter?
European Patriot operators currently have to send interceptors across the Atlantic for servicing.
According to Polish defence outlet Defence24, the new facility could potentially reduce maintenance turnaround times from many months to just weeks.
With interceptor stocks under enormous pressure from the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, this could significantly improve NATO's air-defence readiness.
Poland also hopes the facility could eventually pave the way for domestic PAC-3 MSE production.
A major victory for Poland's defence industry - and an important step towards a more resilient European air-defence supply chain.
