Disgusted but not surprised that Victorian detectives are pretending a 60-year-old man getting his face caved in with a baseball bat for defending One Nation signs on his own property “isn’t politically motivated.” Facial fractures, bleed on the brain, and the usual selective blindness from a force that treats right-wing victims as background noise. If the signs had been Labor or Greens, the political-violence press conference would’ve already been booked. abc.net.au/news/2026-11-04/o…

Unix predates Windows (DOS), and GNU/Linux was written as a free Unix replacement. Windows couldn't manage to adopt what was already used in Unix. Billware generally doesn't do interoperability.
Can I ask a DUMB tech question? Why does Windows use "\" in file paths, while Linux and macOS use "/"? Why couldn't everyone agree on one slash?

For a start, I imagine that the government won't be stealing back firearms from law-abiding firearms owners, genders will be defined scientifically and not what a person "identifies as", and that the waste of money on Snowy 2.0 and net zero will stop and inland rail continues.
Imagine Australia under a Liberal–National–One Nation government. Lower minimum wages. Higher student debt. Dearer medicines. Their answer to the cost-of-living squeeze? Squeeze harder. andrewleigh.com/speech_the_g… #auspol

1°C and 100 ppm in 60 years is NOT unprecedented. I don't get my paleoclimate history from fraudsters. Paleoclimate reconstructions have methodological limits. Proxies (tree rings, sediments, ice cores, etc.) vary in resolution, seasonal bias, spatial coverage, and dating precision. It's all performance art orchestrated by believers with biases. Many papers and reviews diverge from the IPCC assessment. And the research doesn't agree. You can't compare a proxy to instrumental data and declare that 1°C and 100 ppm in 60 years is unprecedented! Many reconstructions show faster rates with CO2 and temperature. Especially within the last 2000 years. The further we go back in paleoclimate history, the less precise it is. There's a potential of 1-7 degrees of difference in temperature and CO2 could have been higher than 450 ppm during the RWP. I don't choose to believe liars anymore. I'll figure it out on my own from now on.

If roles were reversed, and it were a male politician making this face whilst a woman was addressing the parliament, it would kick off an "urgent national conversation" about how disrespectful Australian men are to women, misogyny, the political boys club, male entitlement, the manosphere, rape culture, how this perpetuates male violence against women, and on, and on, and on. Albanese would probably order a Royal Commission. When @sarahinthesen8 does it to @senatorbabet there's crickets.

The tragedy here is that Tanya 'believes' that the climate can be altered in some measurable way by whatever Australia or the world does re CO2 emissions, or even that the climate needs fixing. Yes, Tanya's belief is an ideology. #auspol teapawt.net/ScienceBlog3/status/21…
Is accepting the Earth is round also an ideology Angus? Climate change isn’t a worldview or a belief system - it’s a fact.

Le Chatelier’s principle (Henri Louis Le Chatelier, 1884): "If the equilibrium of a system is disturbed by a change in one or more of the determining factors (as temperature, pressure, or concentration) the system tends to adjust itself to a new equilibrium by counteracting as far as possible the effect of the change.” Any change, human or otherwise results in equilibrium. We've never shown, measured or proven that Earth's climate is any different. Happer and van Wijngaarden invoke the same idea in their climate work: a small reduction in outgoing longwave radiation from added CO2 is met by adjustments (temperature, clouds, circulation) that largely offset it. The principle is general to equilibrium systems; the climate application is that the Earth does not simply accumulate the forcing without a restoring response. Humans add a fraction of a fraction of the increases in GHGs that is already dwarfed by water vapor. The notion that there is a tipping point, violates the laws of physics and the principles of Earth science due to equilibrium.
If we are referring to ocean surface skin temperature, then yes it's measured by satellites, but any claim that an observed change is specifically due to back radiation (downwelling longwave from greenhouse gases) is an attribution step that depends on models, not a direct measurement of that causal component. The ~3 W/m² figure from Happer and van Wijngaarden (and the conventional ~3.7 W/m² value used in most assessments) is a calculated radiative forcing, not a quantity that will be measured directly as an isolated CO2 delta. We also would not be able to distinguish whether or not the additional changes were due to CO2 edge band increases or water vapor. Again, this figure assumes WV will increase by 1% per decade. So, in reality, doubling is exaggerated by both skeptics and "believers". For years, I would try to explain this, and people here would continue to confuse everything, trying to plug in algorithms in, not realizing that this is not a physics problem were the values remain consistent. All natural systems resist change and the earth pushes back for every change made. In chemistry pH resists change. A warmer surface emits more longwave radiation (the Planck response). Happer and van Wijngaarden emphasize the same point when they note that a ~3 W/m² clear-sky reduction in flux to space from doubled CO2 is only about 1% of the total outgoing longwave radiation, and that small changes in cloud cover or altitude can compensate for it. The system does not simply retain the extra energy because we can do math; temperature, water vapor, clouds, and circulation adjust until the top-of-atmosphere budget is restored. Or as I said, it pushes back in the Le Chatelier’s principle (Henri Louis Le Chatelier, 1884): "If the equilibrium of a system is disturbed by a change in one or more of the determining factors (as temperature, pressure, or concentration) the system tends to adjust itself to a new equilibrium by counteracting as far as possible the effect of the change.”

This is @AlboMP in 2020 commenting on then Coalition Minister Bridget McKenzie who admitted to breaching ministerial standards by failing to formally declare her membership at the Wangaratta Trap and Gun Club, which received $36,000 in federal funding through a Sports Funding program. She resigned. Thanks to @rovingallround for the clip.

And so if the parents are IS, the Greens will let terrorists reside in Australia without question. In the immortal words of The Angels war cry, "No way. Get f**ked. F**k off!"
No one should have to choose between the life they’ve built here in Australia and the parents they left behind. The Greens are fighting for a system that lets families have both. Because of a go-slow on processing by Govt a parent visa today means waiting 18 to up to 42 years.

The biggest win this country could have right now is for Albo to step down. Could he be the second PM an AG has sacked?
This is a win for Aussie businesses, farmers and customers. That's why the whole of Parliament should be supporting it.

Can we stop twisting this into something it isn’t? The man charged with deliberately running down Helen Haines is a longtime environmental activist with a documented history of mental health struggles, isolation, and neurological issues. His online activity was an environmentalist and later pro-Palestine, not manosphere content, cartoons, or right-wing politics. This attack has nothing to do with those things. I’m tired of seeing a brutal crime against an MP exploited for unrelated agendas.

BREAKING: Department of Infrastructure officials have just confirmed what many suspected: the $6 million federal grant to Marrickville Golf Club in Anthony Albanese’s electorate was not for fixing sewerage issues. Albanese repeatedly told Parliament and the ABC that the money was to stop raw sewage flowing into the Cooks River during floods. Officials at Senate estimates were clear: “It does not include sewerage works.” The actual project, according to departmental briefs, FOI documents and council minutes: $4.5m went to the clubhouse redevelopment (bar, toilets, pro shop, alfresco dining, dog station) $1m stormwater harvesting. $0.5m landscaping/native plantings The septic/sewage connection was handled separately by a $269,500 NSW Government grant in 2025. This is the same club where Albanese held an undisclosed honorary membership dating back years, something he says he didn’t know about and never used, despite being caught on camera at the club hundreds of times. People have been forced to stand down over far less. Barry O’Farrell resigned as NSW Premier in 2014 after ICAC evidence showed he received a bottle of Penfolds Grange (valued at around $3,000) that he failed to declare and initially denied receiving. One bottle. One denial. Career over. Here we have a Prime Minister whose department has contradicted his public statements about a $6 million grant to a club in his own seat, after an undeclared membership was revealed, and he remains in office. If a bottle of Grange ended a Premier, what standard are we applying now?
