People need to stop overreacting about Kamala’s plan to reduce food inflation, as if it would lead to communism, mass starvation, and the end of America. I worked in M&A in the food industry. Here’s a step-by-step summary of what would actually happen: 1. The government announces that grocery retailers aren’t allowed to raise prices. 2. Grocery stores, which operate on 1-2% net margins, can’t survive if their suppliers raise prices. So the government announces that food producers (Kraft Heinz, ConAgra, Tyson, Hormel, et. al.) also aren’t allowed to raise prices. 3. Not all grocery stores are created equal. Stores in lower-income areas make less money than those in higher-income areas, as the former disproportionately sell lower-margin prepackaged foods (“center of the store”) instead of higher-margin fresh products like meat (“perimeter of the store”). Because stores in lower-income areas aren’t able to cover overhead (remember, even if their wholesale costs are fixed, their labor, utilities, insurance, and other operating expenses aren’t fixed… yet), grocery chains start to shut them down. Food deserts in rural areas and in low-income urban areas alike become worse. 4. Meanwhile, margins for food producers are also quickly eroding. Their primary costs (ingredients, energy, and labor) aren’t fixed, and their shrinking gross profits leave less cash flow available to cover overhead, maintain facilities, and reinvest in additional production capacity. 5. Grocery chains, which have finite shelf space, start to repurpose their stores (those they didn’t have to shut down, I should say) to sell more non-price-controlled items—everything from nutrition supplements to kitchenware to apparel—and less price-controlled food products. Your local Kroger or Safeway starts to look and feel more like a Walmart. 6. Food producers stop making products with lower margins. Grocery chain start competing with each other to secure inventory. Since they can’t compete by offering stronger prices (remember, producers aren’t allowed to raise prices here, and, even if they could, grocery chains no longer have the gross profit to bear price increases), they compete on things like payment terms. 7. Small grocery chains start to shut down entirely, or get sold to larger chains like Kroger. In addition to not being able to cover fixed costs, a major reason for this is because they can no longer reliably secure delivery of products, due to producers prioritizing sales to larger customers, which are able to leverage their stronger balance sheets to offer superior payment terms. 8. Smaller food producers—which typically sell via distributors, rather than directly to grocery chains—start to go out of business. Because these producers have an additional step their value chains, and because they have lower volumes over which to spread their fixed costs, their cost structure is inherently disadvantaged compared to major food producers. When grocery stores aren’t able to raise prices, cutting product costs becomes all the more important, and deprioritizing purchases from smaller producers is an easy way to do so. 9. As supply chains break down, lines start to form outside grocery stores every morning. Cities assign police officers to patrol store parking lots, and food producers draft contingency plans to assign armed escorts to delivery trucks. 10. The federal government announces a program to issue block grants for states to purchase and operate shuttered grocery stores. The USDA also seizes closed-down production facilities. 11. The government announces that prices for all key food costs—corn, wheat, cattle, energy, etc.—are also now fixed, to stop “profiteers” from gouging the now-government-operated food industry. 12. Shockingly, the government struggles to operate one of the most complex industries on the planet. The entire food supply chain starts imploding. 13. Communism, mass starvation, and the end of America quickly ensue. Hey wait a second

Today we’ve formalized an important hiring policy at Scale. We hire for MEI: merit, excellence, and intelligence. This is the email I’ve shared with our @scale_AI team. ——————————————————— MERITOCRACY AT SCALE In the wake of our fundraise, I’ve been getting a lot of questions about talent. All of our external success—powering breakthroughs in L4 autonomy, partnering with OpenAI on RLHF going back to GPT-2, supporting the DoD and every major AI lab, and the recent $1bn financing transaction—all of it is downstream from us hiring the best people for the job. Talent is our #1 input metric. Because of this, I spend a lot of my time on recruiting. I either personally interview every hire or sign off on every candidate packet. It’s the thing I spend the plurality of my time on, easily. But everyone can and should contribute to this effort. There are almost a thousand of us now, and it takes a lot to hire quickly while maintaining, and continuing to raise, our bar for quality. That’s why this is the time to codify a hiring principle that I consider crucial to our success: Scale is a meritocracy, and we must always remain one. Hiring on merit will be a permanent policy at Scale. It’s a big deal whenever we invite someone to join our mission, and those decisions have never been swayed by orthodoxy or virtue signaling or whatever the current thing is. I think of our guiding principle as MEI: merit, excellence, and intelligence. That means we hire only the best person for the job, we seek out and demand excellence, and we unapologetically prefer people who are very smart. We treat everyone as an individual. We do not unfairly stereotype, tokenize, or otherwise treat anyone as a member of a demographic group rather than as an individual. We believe that people should be judged by the content of their character — and, as colleagues, be additionally judged by their talent, skills, and work ethic. There is a mistaken belief that meritocracy somehow conflicts with diversity. I strongly disagree. No group has a monopoly on excellence. A hiring process based on merit will naturally yield a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and ideas. Achieving this requires casting a wide net for talent and then objectively selecting the best, without bias in any direction. We will not pick winners and losers based on someone being the “right” or “wrong” race, gender, and so on. It should be needless to say, and yet it needs saying: doing so would be racist and sexist, not to mention illegal. Upholding meritocracy is good for business and is the right thing to do. This approach not only results in the strongest possible team, but also ensures we’re treating our colleagues with fairness and respect. As a result, everyone who joins Scale can be confident that they were chosen for their outstanding talent, not any other reasons. MEI has gotten us to where we are today. And it’s the same thing that’ll get us where we’re going, as we embark on our next chapter focusing on data abundance, frontier data, and reliable measurement to accelerate the development and adoption of AI models. The tide seems to be turning against the medicalization of children with gender dysphoria. Do you think there will ever be accountability for the so called “experts,” medical associations, and media who pushed destructive lies for profit and/or ideology? Or will they evade accountability as the lockdowners have?

Great question, thanks for asking! Trump doesn't fight against cultural Marxism. He doesn't even know what it is, otherwise he wouldn't have Van Jones writing "criminal justice reform" legislation for him to sign or telling Bruce Jenner to feel free to waltz into women's bathrooms at Mar-a-Lago. As to your other points, to the extent that DeSantis and Trump have the same agenda, only the former has the wherewithal to actually implement it. Trump was good on two things: cutting econ regulations (by easily reversible executive order) and scaring foreign leaders into thinking he's crazy enough to nuke them (there is value in that). I would give him credit on judges but he really had nothing to do with picking them and the ones that were picked have been pretty spotty at times. He even wants to reverse their biggest win, the recent Roe v Wade overturn, by supporting abortion up to 4 months nationwide. Finally, we have to factor into our analysis Trump's political capital were he to enter office and what he is likely to do with it. Being a constitutional and civic ignoramus who is more concerned with what cable news anchors say about him than anything the Founders said, combined with the fact that he would come into office as a one-term lame duck as soon as he enters, means that the downsides to enduring another 4 years of the clown show far outweigh any possible benefit. However, his defeat is likely to spur a resurgence in the conservative movement to actually combat the Left rather than mimic their populist nonsense. In summation, we're going to have pain no matter who wins in November. The question is whether we will be able to use it constructively for the long term or if we'll just watch everything burn hoping the fire "owns the libs" even as it consumes the nation as a whole.
Why can’t you find common ground with Trump, who’s policies are most similar to Desantis? Why are you open minded with a democrat that once said climate deniers should be jailed but you can’t be open minded with the only candidate left that stands more MOST of the things you stand for and will ABSOLUTELY fight back against cultural Marxism. He isn’t perfect. But perfect is the enemy of much better.

Tonight’s results are just another sign on the wall. Congressional GOP headed for serious trouble in November and no one seems interested in doing anything to change course.

If you don’t vote for Trump, you’re voting for Biden! It’s a binary choice! Unite! No, I’m not. No, it isn’t. No, I won’t. Months to go ‘till November and I’m fed up with the pleas, threats, and increasingly sweaty desperation of the Trump camp as the reality of what will happen sinks in. So, the first charge, a popular meme that half-wits are now throwing around. It’s a bully tactic combining guilt and some vauge threat, which I guess is par for the fetid political stench that Trump and MAGA have normalized. My refusal to vote for Trump does not equate to a vote for Biden. Let me flip this faux logic on its head: I’m not voting for Biden. Does that equate to a vote for Trump? Yes? No? Please explain. I’ll wait. Then there’s the “binary choice” claim. This one rankles because it is so stupid. Binary means two options. But there will be more than two options for president on the November ballot, RFK Jr being the likely third big name if he manages to get on more ballots. But there will be other names. And there will be a blank line for write-in votes. Not voting is an option. I'm considering at least one of the above. There are plenty of options. It's not binary. Side note: In computer science “binary" means using 0 and 1 in a virtually infinite array of sequences. Two simple integers that now run much of the world. But it doesn’t work with a 0 and another 0. Which is what we’ll have in November if the “binary choice” people are only talking about Biden and Trump. Finally, the “Unite!” schtick. I posted on that already (teapawt.net/rockisland250/st…) but a quick addendum. Watching Trump’s behavior since Iowa convinces me he is one of the worst candidates to run for the presidency. Ever. In either party. He has atrocious character defects. There’s the likelihood of a conviction. The complete lack of accountability for major failures when he was president. The insanely erratic “policy positions” on the few occasions when his early-dementia-stage brain slurs them out. The manipulation of a corrupt media. The scum who surround him, lavishing him with praise that he clearly needs. The visceral hatred of Trump by that big middle swath of last-minute voters who will decide the election. It also hit me that I might just agree with Dems who call him dangerous. Maybe not for the same reasons. He’s not Hitler. But his amoral, irrational behavior, his pathological narcissism, the lack of guardrails if he were to get back into the WH (i.e., no re-election concerns), the perfidious grifters he’ll pick for staffers because no talented, moral people will work for him…. At best, very little if anything of lasting value will get done. And likely worse: a chaotic circus with bad decisions and maybe fatal mistakes that could end this nation even sooner than expected. BTW, Trump already suggested suspending the Constitution when it interfered with his will in 2020. Any thoughts on this, anyone? Any trepid Fox reporter going to ask him about that? So are Trumpers going to pin the coming Trump loss on #neveragaintrump conservatives? Looks that way. I don't care. Because it's not my fault if he loses. The fact that Republicans are picking this man again—by overwhelming margins, when they had an obviously superior "option" in DeSantis—is a game ender for me. Only a people in deep denial, suspending any belief that choosing someone like this is the mark of a late-stage empire, could pick Donald Trump to lead them. I can’t wrap my head around it. And I won't be bludgeoned into going along with the "binary choice" and "Unite!" bullshit. We all have individual choices to make, guided by conscience and free will. If you want to vote for Trump, it’s your choice. My choice is that I am not checking the box next to that man’s name.
Trump, "Unity," and The Cave It looks like the beatings will continue until morale improves. I can’t open my feed now without seeing posts from the “unity” crowd with some plea, threat, or snotty “just do it” message about the requirement to vote for Trump. All smelling of sweaty desperation, and all aimed (odd, isn’t it?) at DeSantis supporters. A tiny sampling: Vivek: “We have a country to save… If you believe the president of the United States owes a duty to this country, not another one, you have one choice.” Kurt Schlichter: “The choice is binary.” Ryan Fournier (Students for Trump): “Vote for Donald J Trump. Do it.” JD Sharp (random Trumper with a somewhat large following): “… you either back the party in the general, or you’re supporting the other party.” David Limbaugh (sharing the name but not the wisdom of his brother): “How can people… criticize Trump now that the primary is over and DeSantis himself now supports Trump? … I love you all, please we must come together.” Of course, Trump’s paid posse of possessed demons is still very active, their heads spinning 360 degrees and vomiting pea soup threats that apparently are supposed to make us submit or something. I stuck it all in a shredder, taped the strips together, and got this: “Hey we respect your vote for DeSantis he’s a great guy but he’s gone now you need to vote for Trump because DeSantis endorsed him let’s unite we need to save The Country hey why are you hesitating don’t say mean things about Trump he’s our only hope umm you should not talk about Trump’s polls and trials and dementia and adultery and election losses and who do you think you are saying that what are you some kind of leftist don’t you care about The Country do you want Biden to win you filthy commie scum we will find where you live and you’ll regret your treason you fuckers and we’ll make sure your cowboy boot wearing little man is run out of town.” OK. How did we get to this? Thinking back on the top GOP leaders in my lifetime: Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bush I, Dole, Bush 2, McCain, Romney. And Trump. How many pushed an actual conservative agenda? Nixon, sort of, but with fatal flaws and that nasty war and even nastier exit. And Reagan, who was in the Oval Office….. 36 years ago. It’s been one long slide downhill since then, putting us in a cul-de-sac with an aging, corrupt, amoral thug preening like a modern-day Duce. The people haranguing us make me think of Plato’s Cave. You know, the story of the humans chained in a dark cave, facing the same wall all their lives, thinking the shadows of objects cast on the wall are the real thing. When led outside, they’re blinded by the light, and when told that the real objects are reality, they don’t believe it, they’re frightened by it, they run back to the safety of The Cave. Back to what's comfortable, to what they know. So they lash out. And insult the intelligence. Like, DeSimps are too dumb and naive to see the Democrat/marxist takeover of our society. And that Donald Trump, an aging, fatally flawed former Democrat, has what it takes to fight for us. If he’s elected. Which won't happen. But, OK, devil's advocate: A black swan event gets him elected. Unburdened by thoughts of getting re-elected, he'll spend four sunset years golfing with his Saudi buddies at MAL and forgetting what day it is and partying with 36-D babes while Loomer runs press conferences, Poso runs the WH as chief of staff, and Caitlin advocates for DEI hires in the Pentagon and tampon dispensers in the Oval Office. The unity crew knows this is likely. They won't say it. But most of them know it. I’m not calling DeSantis a savior or light bringer. That language is for MAGA cultists and Obama worshippers. DeSantis was, and is, better than that. He is a real-life, once-in-my-lifetime politician, versed in our history and our Constitution, with a proven record demonstrating the principles and smarts and energy to explain and lead and act and ultimately halt our country’s rapidly accelerating decline. DeSantis and a very few conservatives, like @RepThomasMassie and @chiproytx, are why, to a large degree, I’m now a Never Trumper. Who knows, without DeSantis in the race I might have resigned myself to voting for Trump again, if that’s all there was. But DeSantis gave us a real choice: Continue the downhill slide or go in a new direction. The unity crowd made their choice. I’ve made mine. I’ve seen politicians I can get excited about, who offer a way out with visions that I share. I don’t know where it’s going. But I’ll go with them to find out.

GOP allowed DJT to miss debates, not sign a loyalty agreement, pay his legal bills, even tried to cancel the primary, the "conservative" media covered up all of DJT's despicable behavior and failures, no level playing field, and RDS knew he couldn't play the game, so he quit

Trump paid off Fox News and much of Con. Inc. to keep his supporters in the dark about his legal and other troubles, and aggressively black out DeSantis. After November, there's a huge number of 'conservative' pundits and influencers who need to be held accountable for putting Trump above nation.

If you're a former DeSantis supporter who now enthusiastically supports RFJ, Jr, please unfollow me. That is the stupidest idea I have ever heard since people said we should all vote for Trump. While RFK and DeSantis are similar on the vax and punishing those responsible, they are virtually polar opposites on drilling & fracking, Green New Deal, abortion, gun control, taxes, health care, immigration, birthright citizenship and spending on our military.

My thoughts have been gathered… A postmortem of the DeSantis campaign is quite simple. He lost because there was never a path. He could have run the most perfect, lit campaign ever with zero mistakes and it wouldn’t have mattered. The path was never there. The right and left wing media got their guy by icing out DeSantis and only mentioning him when referring to their manufactured narrative of “weird” or “muh polls he’s such a loser” or “hey look at those boots”. They boosted Trump up every chance they got never mentioning anything about how he sold out conservatives on practically every issue. So voters don’t know what they don’t know. Desantis had to drop out now before his brand is tarnished forever. There is an outside chance that Trump has to drop out at the convention. Even if DeSantis stayed in, Trump is going to get like 99% of the delegates. Meaning Trump voters will dominate the convention and in the unprecedented likelyhood Trump must drop out, they will pick a random candidate. Currently DeSantis has very high favorables with Trump voters, but that won’t last if he continues to get demolished and burns it down in a long fight. He has to go back to Florida and be the based fighter from Florida again. Remind people what they gave up. Be the national voice against the establishment that Trump is not. I was honored to help support Ron DeSantis and I will feel just fine when I still cast my vote for him tomorrow, knowing I’m voting for the guy with the greatest conservative record of any executive in modern history who had integrity, courage, and devotion to serving the people over himself.

Exactly. The opposition will take the rational and logical charges and lump them in with the wacky ones the grifters are profiting off of. That's one reason I always try to be perfectly clear with what I'm talking about. Back in 2020 I was trying to explain how basic fraud and collusion works to people, and what steps would be necessary to check for that kind of fraud... While the Trump campaign was freaking out about Krakens and Delta Force shootouts at mystery server farms in Germany. Media is good at motte and bailey. You ask reasonable questions about chain of custody and boxes of mystery ballots which turn up late and in an odd fashion, you know, boring traditional fraud the likes of which Democrats have been known for their entire history, and the opposition immediately tars you with the insane hyperbolic fantasy nonsense the grifters were screaming about, and then the normies dismiss the basic claims. We talk about the dangers of mail in voting without sufficient controls, and people immediately go all rEleAsE tEh kRaKeN hur hur dur. I don't think there has ever been a campaign better at giving ammo to the enemy than Trump. He is truly the world champion of stepping on his own dick.

My thought has always been that the 2020 election was rigged, perhaps further than previous, but not to the "outright fraud" degree that Trump alleges with no evidence. That's what makes it even worse, because the CRAZY claims make normies relegate ALL claims to the trash bin.

The biggest threat to the America First Conservative movement, as it stands now, is the sheer number of organizations and individuals locked in a suicide pact with Trump. So many revenue streams desperately need Trump to win the nomination. The lefty MSM needs Trump to be the

Former Apprentice staffer says that Donald Trump wears a diaper and has been doing so since the 90s. Is he telling the truth or nah? Any evidence of this other than this interview?

To my friends that still support Donald Trump, I understand why. You miss the good ole days of the 2016 Trump. You miss him pissing off the establishment during the 2016 primary campaign and want to so badly have that back. Here’s the problem. 2016 Trump is not the same as 2023 Trump. First, his first term as President was not what we hoped for. Instead of locking Hillary Clinton up after becoming President, he said “she’s been through enough,” & gave her a standing ovation at his inauguration & admitted he only said it for votes. The exact opposite of what an anti-establishment candidate would do. He hired former RNC chairman Reince Preibus as his first chief for staff. The exact opposite of what an anti-establishment candidate would do. He hired over 36 former George W. Bush officials to his administration. The exact opposite of what an anti-establishment candidate would do. He supported Paul Ryan for speaker, Mitch McConnell for Senate majority leader, and Ronna Romney McDaniel for RNC chairwoman. The exact opposite of what an anti-establishment candidate would do. He hired more donors to his White House than any other President in history. The exact opposite of what an anti-establishment candidate would do. He was also pro-LGBTQ including when campaigning, but he went even further when he was holding Trump pride rallies during his 2020 reelection campaign. The exact opposite of what an anti-establishment candidate would do. He pushed for amnesty for 1.8 MILLION illegals in exchange for border security. He also deported LESS illegals than Barack Obama. The exact opposite of what an anti-establishment candidate would do. He banned bump stocks & called for more comprehensive background checks & to raise the age limit from 18 to 21. The exact opposite of what an anti-establishment candidate would do. When Covid hit, he locked down the nation & gave us Dr. Fauci. The exact opposite of what an anti-establishment candidate would do. He spent more money in his first term as President than any other President in history. The exact opposite of what an anti-establishment candidate would do. He pushed operation warp speed & gave vaccine manufacturers passes for any vaccine side effects/deaths that might be caused. The exact opposite of what an anti-establishment candidate would do. Then came his 2024 campaign. First, he started it by attacking the most conservative Governor in the Country with complete lies & disgusting attacks. The exact opposite of what an anti-establishment candidate would do. Since then, he’s spent more money attacking Ron DeSantis than Joe Biden. The exact opposite of what an anti-establishment candidate would do. He has attacked Republican Governors across the country in key states. He attacked Kim Reynolds of Iowa, Chris Sununu of New Hampshire, & Brian Kemp of Georgia. The exact opposite of what an anti-establishment candidate would do. He has moved to the left on abortion by calling heartbeat bills “terrible mistakes,” and by saying he would negotiate with Democrats on abortion so that “both sides will like me.” The exact opposite of what an anti-establishment candidate would do. He then proceeded to fail on saying whether a man could be a woman, all because he didn’t want to piss off his good pal Bruce Jenner. The exact opposite of what an anti-establishment candidate would do. He’s attacked our greatest ally, Israel, after they were attacked by Hamas terrorists. All because he’s upset their Prime Minister congratulated Joe Biden after the 2020 election. The exact opposite of what an anti-establishment candidate would do. Now, he’s calling everyone who believed his campaign promise to build the wall & make Mexico pay for it “losers.” Why? Because he couldn’t get it done. My friends, you are no losers for wanting to believe Donald Trump. I did. The fact is, Donald Trump was never who he made himself out to be. It’s sad, but it’s true. #DeSantis2024

In a martial arts tournament last week, several females boycotted because of the surplus of males competing against the women. In most of the women's divisions, there were more males than females competing. In one of the women's division, there were ONLY males left competing as seen in the podium picture below.
