🚨🇮🇪 PFLP is a proscribed terrorist organisation in the EU @Europarl_EN @EUCouncil @OCallaghanJim Why is @3ArenaDublin hosting the Macklemore & Friends fundraiser on Oct. 26 which will apparently benefit PFLP terrorism? It is a criminal offence in Ireland. It seems that @3ArenaDublin is owned/controlled by @apolloglobal and @LiveNation who have main offices in the U.K. and USA. ‘The Criminal Justice (Terrorist Offences) Act 2005 (section 13) makes it illegal for a person, in or outside the State, to provide, collect, or receive funds intending or knowing they will be used (in whole or in part) to carry out terrorist acts or for the benefit or purposes of a terrorist group. Penalties include fines and imprisonment of up to 20 years on conviction on indictment. Related provisions treat terrorist groups that engage in, promote, or advocate terrorist activity as unlawful organisations. A private venue like the @3ArenaDublin (owned and operated by @LiveNation subsidiaries) must comply with Irish criminal law. Hosting or facilitating a fundraiser whose proceeds are directed to a terrorist group or for terrorist purposes would expose organizers, participants, and potentially the venue operators to prosecution for terrorist financing (or related offences such as providing assistance to an unlawful organisation). Venues also have commercial, insurance, security, and reputational reasons to refuse any such event.’

Those of us, myself included, who were targets of Gillick's anti-Jewish abuse on this platform, will never forget how he initially claimed that his account was "hacked" and that he wasn't responsible for the antisemitic content And how so many people, so many "humanitarians," were willing to accept his obvious lies Message to the anonymous Irish accounts that engage in antisemitic incitement on a daily basis: one day, you cowards will be exposed as well Tick tock

Janice Turner is correct. Unfortunately, we are living in a time when people are proud of supporting a proscribed terrorist group when they should be ashamed of it
Janice Turner in the Times, serves it cold to Sally Rooney. "Rooney’s work brims with jaded ennui: achievement is empty, love problematic, sex just a serotonin blip before postcoital gloom. Beautiful World, Where Are You? whines the title of her third novel. I’ve met young Ukrainians under nightly Russian drone attack who find more laughter and joy in life than her privileged, Mogadoned nihilists. The longing to feel something — anything — defines her characters and her own life. But now, at 35, Rooney has found meaning at last. The cause of Palestine is “to join in something greater than our selves, to participate in some small way in a struggle for human liberation”. Gaza is not about the suffering of a people but Rooney’s self-realisation." thetimes.com/comment/columni… If you are an acclaimed, voice-of-a-generation novelist there are infinite practical ways to deploy your fame and money to aid Gaza’s hungry, injured and displaced. But Rooney has chosen one that gives her the ultimate prize: pain-free public martyrdom.

After two months, the John Gillick affair has finally reached the @IrishTimes. This is a noteworthy moment. Since late August, when screenshots of antisemitic posts to Gillick’s personal X account began circulating, only one journalist at one newspaper (@Fearghaloc at the @Independent_ie) has covered the story. The screenshots highlighted posts describing Jews as “human scum” and “filthy dogs,” and declaring that they “need to be thrown out” of Ireland. The Wayback Machine revealed a substantial archive of such posts going back to the start of last year. John Gillick is not a nobody. He worked at AIG for over 20 years. He headed consumer marketing and sponsorship, fronting the company’s partnerships with sporting bodies including Dublin GAA, the Golfing Union of Ireland, and Hockey Ireland. In March of this year, he was photographed with the Taoiseach (Irish prime minister) at a gala dinner in Washington, D.C. On 2 September, Gillick stated that his account had been compromised and that the antisemitic posts were not his. He reported the matter to the Gardaí, and that investigation continues. However, on Friday, AIG’s president and chief executive, Eric Andersen, confirmed to Orli Degani, chair of the Jewish Representative Council of Ireland, that Gillick is no longer working for the company. Andersen does not run the Irish subsidiary, @AIGIreland. He has led AIG worldwide since June. It is significant, therefore, that a complaint from a handful of people in this country reached the CEO of a global insurer in New York. Degani thanked him specifically for the personal attention he gave it. But note the disparity here. The CEO of a multi-billion-dollar multinational corporation judged this matter serious enough to deal with himself. Meanwhile, most of the Irish press ignored the issue for eight weeks. Consider, by contrast, how a story last week about a Palestinian necklace being edited out of an episode of Cheap Irish Homes was instantly in the headlines of every major newspaper, TV station, and radio broadcaster in the country. That asymmetry reflects something that I have written about here before: a habit of looking the other way when Jews are being targeted. The elements of a story were always there: a senior figure in Irish sports sponsorship, a personal account calling for a minority group to be expelled from the country, a company inquiry, a Garda investigation into a claimed hack. Had the target of the posts been any other minority community in this country, it is hard to imagine having to wait two months for a second journalist to take an interest. Ms Degani says the case mattered “far beyond the actions of one individual,” and she is right. The issue was never about what was posted on one account. It is about whether Irish Jews can trust that when things like this happen, they will be taken seriously by employers, by the Gardaí, by the media, and by the public. Her closing point is that reporting antisemitism matters. It does, but so does reporting on it. irishtimes.com/ireland/2026/…

I'm seeing quite a bit of comment about this, so I want to make a couple of points. I'm not owed eternal agreement from any actor who once played a character I created. The idea is as ludicrous as me checking with the boss I had when I was twenty-one for what opinions I should hold these days. Emma Watson and her co-stars have every right to embrace gender identity ideology. Such beliefs are legally protected, and I wouldn't want to see any of them threatened with loss of work, or violence, or death, because of them. However, Emma and Dan in particular have both made it clear over the last few years that they think our former professional association gives them a particular right - nay, obligation - to critique me and my views in public. Years after they finished acting in Potter, they continue to assume the role of de facto spokespeople for the world I created. When you've known people since they were ten years old it's hard to shake a certain protectiveness. Until quite recently, I hadn't managed to throw off the memory of children who needed to be gently coaxed through their dialogue in a big scary film studio. For the past few years, I've repeatedly declined invitations from journalists to comment on Emma specifically, most notably on the Witch Trials of JK Rowling. Ironically, I told the producers that I didn't want her to be hounded as the result of anything I said. The television presenter in the attached clip highlights Emma's 'all witches' speech, and in truth, that was a turning point for me, but it had a postscript that hurt far more than the speech itself. Emma asked someone to pass on a handwritten note from her to me, which contained the single sentence 'I'm so sorry for what you're going through' (she has my phone number). This was back when the death, rape and torture threats against me were at their peak, at a time when my personal security measures had had to be tightened considerably and I was constantly worried for my family's safety. Emma had just publicly poured more petrol on the flames, yet thought a one line expression of concern from her would reassure me of her fundamental sympathy and kindness. Like other people who've never experienced adult life uncushioned by wealth and fame, Emma has so little experience of real life she's ignorant of how ignorant she is. She'll never need a homeless shelter. She's never going to be placed on a mixed sex public hospital ward. I'd be astounded if she's been in a high street changing room since childhood. Her 'public bathroom' is single occupancy and comes with a security man standing guard outside the door. Has she had to strip off in a newly mixed-sex changing room at a council-run swimming pool? Is she ever likely to need a state-run rape crisis centre that refuses to guarantee an all-female service? To find herself sharing a prison cell with a male rapist who's identified into the women's prison? I wasn't a multimillionaire at fourteen. I lived in poverty while writing the book that made Emma famous. I therefore understand from my own life experience what the trashing of women's rights in which Emma has so enthusiastically participated means to women and girls without her privileges. The greatest irony here is that, had Emma not decided in her most recent interview to declare that she loves and treasures me - a change of tack I suspect she's adopted because she's noticed full-throated condemnation of me is no longer quite as fashionable as it was - I might never have been this honest. Adults can't expect to cosy up to an activist movement that regularly calls for a friend's assassination, then assert their right to the former friend's love, as though the friend was in fact their mother. Emma is rightly free to disagree with me and indeed to discuss her feelings about me in public - but I have the same right, and I've finally decided to exercise it.
“I think she’s going to find that you can’t sit on the fence... The real win is when ordinary people can say these things.” @DerryBanShee speaks to @joshxhowie about Emma Watson’s comments about JK Rowling. 📺 youtu.be/r2OGEITYe2Y
