They say courage is contagious. So is resentment, anger, and bitterness.
Choose your crowd wisely.

💥If anyone can claim the title of a Likud Elder it is Benny Begin, 83, former Netanyahu minister and son of Likud founder Menachem Begin. This is his video begging fellow Likud members to kick the current Likud out to the opposition.

A fascist that Israel’s own security services had deemed too extremist to even serve in the IDF is now a top leader of the right in that country and this is entirely due to Netanyahu giving him this space. A shame for his country and him

This was my lede from last week. @LulaOficial gets one more dance:
In the final days of his final campaign, supporters of the Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva turned to a British classic. David Bowie and Queen’s 1981 hit, “Under Pressure,” became the soundtrack of a viral video showing scenes from the eighty-year-old Lula’s half century in politics. Here was the humble trade unionist, born into extreme poverty, standing up as a fiery-eyed tribune of the workers. “Can’t we give ourselves one more chance?” the song implores, over clips of a younger, scraggly-bearded Lula rallying the people, casting his vote in the ballot box, and winning elections. “Why can’t we give love that one more chance?” we hear as the song crescendoes, amid footage of Lula mobbed by ecstatic crowds, kissing the Brazilian flag, and embracing a kaleidoscope of his countrymen, from red-shirted throngs in São Paulo to Indigenous leaders from the Amazon. Then there’s an older Lula, back on the streets after being freed from prison for what his allies always believed were unjust corruption charges, and mobilizing opposition to Brazil’s far right in defense of the country’s democracy. The song subsides: “This is our last dance.”

I do not at foreclose the possibility of various sorts of political shenanigans even after Vucic’s concession but this extraordinary result in Serbia is what happens when people show up: in the streets, at the ballot box. That’s the lesson. If you care about democracy, show up.

An overlooked positive side effect of the Serbian parliamentary election today is that Ivica Dačić, the former spokesman of Slobodan Milošević’s Socialist Party of Serbia, appears to have been voted out of parliament, along with his party. One of the darkest figures in Serbian history is thus leaving the stage, hopefully for good.

Thank God Serbia borders Europe, which is why we preserved our democracy. If we bordered Russia, we might have suffered the same fate as Belarus or Georgia. That's why I'm also sad tonight, because our Georgian and Belarusian friends continue to suffer the fate we managed to escape.

Celebrations in Banja Luka too, the largest city in Bosnia’s RS entity, with crowd chanting “Mile [Dodik], you are next!” Alas, a fractured opposition delivered Dodik’s SNSD another mandate even after 20+ years at the entity’s helm only weeks ago at the Bosnian elections.

Ron Lauder disclosed that he negotiated a peace deal between Israel and Syria under Hafez, but Netanyahu refused to sign at the last minute. That’s what made Lauder break from Bibi. Decades later, the same man is again putting politics before his people.

I have just spoken by phone with the leaders of the Students' List @studentblokade, who won the elections in Serbia, to congratulate them on their victory. I assured them of Hungary’s support. I was delighted to hear how much strength our victory in April had given them during this difficult struggle.

Vucic concedes defeat. The true scale of the Student List victory remains to be seen — but this a political earthquake for the Western Balkans.
Sincere congratulations to the citizens of Serbia who held out hope against hope and mobilized in extraordinary numbers.

The first elections in Hungary toppled Orbán. Then today, an aspiring student-led movement toppled Vucic through elections.
Which illiberal populist will fall next?

Incredible footage of Serbia’s acting President Ana Brnabic, Vucic’s longtime aide, in profanity-laced argument with Student List supporters in the streets of the capital, as massive crowds celebrate the SNS defeat all over the country.

Bosnian media have identified White House-linked operatives Alex Garcia, James Blair, Andrew H. Smith, and (apparently) Chris LaCivita in photos of a pre-election rally of Sino-Russian backed secessionist regime in Bosnia which hired them, as NYT reported. detektor.ba/2026/10/19/trump…
