OpenAI just posted a 67 page paper titled "The Exponential Time Hypothesis is False." Here's what that means in plain English.
Picture a wall of light switches and a list of rules like "switch 3 OR switch 7 must be on." Find a setting that follows every rule. That puzzle is called 3-SAT.
The brute force way is trying every combination. Every switch you add doubles the work. 300 switches means more combinations than there are atoms in the universe.
For about 25 years computer scientists have assumed you can never escape that doubling. You can be clever and shave some off, but the blowup is baked in. That assumption is ETH, and a ton of other results are built on top of it.
OpenAI claims an algorithm that still blows up, just slower than ETH says is possible.
What it doesn't mean:
- It doesn't prove P = NP
- It doesn't make every hard problem easy
- It doesn't break Bitcoin. Turning SHA-256 into one of these puzzles takes tens of thousands of switches, and at that size this method is far slower than plain brute force.
Huge if true. It's a preprint and nobody has checked it yet. Watch what the complexity theorists say over the next few weeks.

Here's a direct link to OpenAI's PDF claiming a refutation of ETH. In particular, it's claimed that 3SAT on n variables is in about exp(n/(log n)^{1/2+o(1)}) time

I haven’t been this excited to go to sleep and for it to be tomorrow since November 23rd 2004.

A new Proof-of-Build project is live ✅
Project: @Orbitalxyz
Token: $ORBT
Allocation: 1M $ORBT
Mode: Vesting
About: Building automated bot infra for crypto🤖
Our team has allocated an additional 2M $ORBT tokens to the proof-of-build address as support.
More to come 🔥

Working on getting our first couple of proof-of-build project consoles live today ✅
With these being the first outside of our own, we will be running some tests with the teams to ensure all is running properly.
Then onto the next 100 🤝

The first proof-of-build project is getting connected within the next 24 hours and their PoB console will be live on button.fun
They code in a different environment outside of claude/codex so we're adding this & it will be available to everyone.
Happy Saturday🤝

Proof-of-Build x Any token on Robinhood.
Already building? Connect any existing token on Robinhood chain to Proof-of-Build in seconds.
☑️ Connect a wallet
☑️ Hold $BUTTON as credits
☑️ Allocate supply of your token
☑️ Connect Claude/Codex x Github
☑️ Burn in public
Live now. More chains, features, & distribution on the way - all powering the $BUTTON flywheel.
One button. One billion ideas.

People don’t realise how much size OG Eth guys have … they are 100x bigger bags than Solana plebs and love on chain
Robinhood szn is gonna make Solana 2024 look like amateur hour… like OG eth memecoins that would goto 20-30 billion
So comfy …

proof-of-build @buttondotfun xitter.cf/buttondotfun/status/20…
If you're new, here's the rundown 👇
We started as a memestock launchpad on Robinhood (live today). This allowed us to build the rails for the larger vision which we get into below.
The total current $BUTTON supply is 850M as 150M was sent to a proof-of-Build address that burns with AI token usage as we build the button.fun platform.
What is Proof-of-Build?
It's a new primitive created by our team.
Proof-of-Work proved computational effort. Proof-of-Stake proved economic commitment. Proof-of-Build proves execution.
Teams connect GitHub, AI agents, and other development activity to button within minutes & commit an amount of their token to a Proof-of-Build (PoB) address. Verified work is recorded onchain and the project’s token burns in proportion to real building.
Why Proof-of-Build?
Our team consists of both builders and backers. We've been on both ends. As builders, you're head down focused on making your product as good as possible, yet no one on the outside sees the long hours being put in until updates are live. As a backer you're often times relying on updates via social media and may feel left in the dark with thoughts of "is the team actually doing anything?"
It doesn't have to be this way.
Proof-of-Build is our solution to that as it gives teams a way to communicate with supporters via doing what they do best - building and shipping. And it gives supporters a way to see progress before it even ships.
Our own PoB console: button.fun/ico/button
At first ICOs seemed to be the best use-case here. Teams raise, supporters watch them build. But over the past week we asked ourselves, why limit the tek to only new projects?
More on this shortly & thanks for being here while we experiment with something truly new onchain.

think robinhood might accidentally bring back memestocks in a much more crypto-native form
people forget what GME actually proved in 2021. roaring kitty didn’t just find a mispriced stock. a stock became a culture, the culture became distribution, and the distribution became enough buying power to move the market. GME ran as much as ~1,745% from the start of 2021 during the frenzy.
now robinhood has tokenized stocks and memecoins starting to live on the same rails, and the early chain activity has already been dominated by speculation rather than the RWAs it was built around.
think eventually some stocks won’t just have shareholders. they’ll have communities, memes, creators, tokens and entire economies forming around them.
GME might look less like a one-off and more like the first version of something retail markets eventually make normal.
