if we create digital superintelligence, it is our offspring. hence, it is human
As I mentioned several years ago, it increasingly appears that humanity is a biological bootloader for digital superintelligence

Oh FFS. Thank you for your concern Sam, but don’t spread your FUD and doom bait in my waters. I lead one of the most utilized Linux operating systems in the world for data centers and enterprises, and I founded its predecessor too. While AI is surely accelerating finding human created security issues, it is a temporary problem, and most open source project leads have already figured out how to also use AI to reduce new bugs moving forward. Here is a graph from GKH (who maintains the stable kernel) on how many CVEs they are remediating per release: github.com/gregkh/kernel-dev… This graph describes how much better each release is now getting: github.com/gregkh/kernel-dev… This doom based marketing approach that the AI labs are pushing is really short sighted. While this will of course drive business to us, I find it unethical to distort the truth and use scare tactics in messaging. The greater truth is that AI is making the software industry more secure, by identifying the human errors in code, and soon we will end up in a much better place.
🚨Sam Altman says the internet can no longer be SECURED by patching bugs. "I no longer think we're going to be able to just patch all the bugs," the OpenAI CEO said, warning smarter models can find "hardware level insane stuff." He says OpenAI can't responsibly open source its best model "anytime soon," but the open source world isn't far behind: "Not super."

Developers have always had the option of creating their own engine. Now it’s going to get a lot easier, especially for games with simpler needs. There are also permissively licensed alternatives like Godot. Everyone should do whatever is best for their particular game.

Science is not some hobby that serves the self actualization of people in a publicly sponsored job placement program. It is the systematic search for truth.
Wow, over 1,000 mathematicians have now joined the Association for Human Mathematics (AHM), committing to: > NOT publish AI generated math papers > NOT work with frontier labs > 654 of them went even further to NOT even use AI in their research, at all

there is a 10 minute latency in the version we have right now (trying to be clear as is shown in that screenshot at the bottom, and experimental tag), we got this down from >24 hours originally we want to add a realtime version which the team is working on! sorry for the hassle here.

wow, incredible new search and rescue technology 🙄
Purdue University's IDEAS Lab built an autonomous drone that tracks runners through dense forests completely without GPS or cloud networks. By running 3D LiDAR mapping and obstacle-avoidance AI entirely on-chip, it can weave under tree canopies and predict target movement through blind spots in real time. Massive implications for next-gen search & rescue and edge AI.

the ISS is so beautiful 🥹
Roll out solar arrays will be installed during next week's spacewalk. You can see two of them folded and ready to be installed and you can also see how they look when they are installed (look in front of the big ones - the new ones are smaller and slightly tilted).

rare centralization W 🙄
This feels so futuristic. Shenzhen does a 10-minute lightshow several times on weekends where they coordinate the 1.2m LEDs on 43 towers. I have no idea how they‘re even able to connect and centralize the controls for so many buildings.

If they are allowed to hide spyware in our basic everyday devices, then we should be allowed to use AI tools to jailbreak and remove the spyware from our devices. Anything less is a flagrant violation of our civil liberties.
WTF, $3000 Samsung TV has an always-on mic, automatic content recognition, geo tracking, network mapping, and ships your data to Samsung + 400 partners. Bro Rooted a brand-new 2025 Samsung TV after noticing absurdly targeted ads. Firmware was locked down, so zero-days it was. Got a root shell. then found: always-on voice service, ACR, geo, full telemetry pipeline, and four separate DRM systems. This isn’t a bug, It’s the product bro.

reddit runs on linux servers linux kernel already has AI code the mods should stand with their principles and delete r/opensource or rename it to r/retards
The r/OpenSource subreddit has officially banned anything using AI. In any way. Violators will be permanently banned. Which means… r/OpenSource will ban anyone submitting anything that, in any way, involves… the Linux kernel. reddit.com/r/opensource/comm…

The people complaining about AI finding security vulnerabilities apparently prefer a world in which APTs and intelligence agencies continue freely infiltrating all of the world's companies, as they have been doing for decades. Notably, those don't usually result in CVEs.

the future of job interviews might just be “send me your agent traces”
There’ll be times where you over-guide the AI. It knows better than you and is more intelligent than you. There’ll be times where you under-guide the AI. It can go off-track, have the wrong biases, or miss context. How well you manage this superpower is the #0 skill I look for.
