I think it’s not just about any language as such. It’s also about tooling and all the help agents can get from the tech ecosystem to produce measurable and quantifiable outcome. Rust compiler toolchain and clippy are practically unparalleled. That’s the answer to why not C or Asm
IMHO, no need for Go. Better than typescript, use @dioxuslabs for the frontend and go multiplatform. So it’s Rust all the way 🫣
This epiphany occurs when you think. Unfortunately majority people tend to be on an autopilot.
Dear @claudeai @ClaudeDevs Being able to pick the UI and text font is a fundamental right of every engineer. I'm trying hard to use Claude Code Desktop and this is the only hindrance so far. Make it happen please. Codex has done it so well I can't praise them enough.
Are you saying Rust is more readable than Ruby or this guy is a dimwit or both? 😉
Was curious about Ruby vs Rust here.

If Rust stops evolving and keeping up it'll lose relevance. I think it's growing great and the toolchain supports easier migration path. It's not a hippie cult anymore since there's a foundation and mature orgs adopting. So yeah, use Rust and enjoy building great software.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again:
Rust is a *really* bad idea for any software you need to have working a few years from now (AI generated or not), or want to continue developing into the future.
Not because Rust is ugly (which… it is).
And not because Rust is, overwhelmingly, a cult (again… it is).
But simply because Rust is still a moving target. The language is not yet “complete”… and neither is the compiler. Changes occur often enough (and in significant enough ways) to throw serious monkey wrenches into any sizable project.
Once Rust stabilizes (which could happen quickly if the Cult of Rust actually wanted it to), this problem will quickly go away.
Until then I will be sticking with C. Or C++. Or, heck, any language that is more stable than Rust.
I happen to think it’s good. Because on the contrary, if you stick to simple algebraic data types and pattern matching, rust code tends to be quite readable and pleasant.
Irony on irony, he doesn’t seem to have tried any optimizations at all. Just a figment of thought, a probabilistic outcome from the LLM and bang the twitter mob.
The agentic AI DevX includes all kind of tooling from compilers, linters to formatters and so on.
Rust is successful there due to zero/low overhead abstractions.
If you can 17x Rust with asm, you either didn't optimize Rust at all or tooling fell short (so file a ticket).

i don't get the opinions that rust reads terrible. i think it's quite neat
Remember: “Invert, always invert”. Ask them what’s exactly ugly there and how so. You’ll see mostly illogical and inconsistent answers 😉
Come on @dhh. I know Rust is no Ruby, but the ugliest language ever created? There has to be uglier.

Rust is eating the world and Copilot brought a fork 🦀
@github used Copilot to rewrite Copilot’s agent runtime in Rust. 800K+ lines, 128 PRs, shipped incrementally. Existing end-to-end tests ran against the new code at every step.
