so many evangelicals have embraced rapists, pedophiles, and bullies as fellow christians but then claim any lifelong christian who is slightly more politically left than them isn’t a christian and then have the audacity to be shocked when so many people leave evangelicalism

Jesse spent years treating Texas like a Republican family heirloom. Dust it off every election, collect the electoral votes, and never ask the people living there whether they're happy. Then Texans made a different choice, and suddenly he's on Fox delivering a eulogy for the entire Republican Party. That's the part I love: the panic isn't that voters changed their minds. It's that Jesse seems genuinely offended they were allowed to. He went from assuming Texas was theirs forever to declaring the White House lost forever in one election night. That's not political analysis. That's a man discovering voters aren't tenants on the GOP's property.
Watters: Democrat governors now control a majority of states. Democrats are on pace for the biggest midterm landslide since Watergate. If Texas stays blue, a Republican will never sniff the White House ever again.

Getting away from "means testing" in general is a good thing. The justified complaint of the middle class is that if you act normal, you suddenly get punished in every aspect of life. In the same way, universal public option is better than the current Medicaid/Medicare thing.
opposing free school lunches is a specific kind of insanity. it’s cheap, the benefits are immense, and kids are compelled by violence to attend school so the state should at least feed them while they’re there. but some people flip out about giving kids a hot meal? idgi

This attitude is the hugest mistake. Enormous swaths of the country hated peak-Woke. Not just Republicans. Do not try to repeat that. We got a blue wave because voters want to repudiate Trump, especially around inflation, not because they decided the Biden era was good.
Conversation overheard in Cambridge, Mass. barbershop this morning (amid general expressions of joy in the election resullts). The gist: 'We [meaning Harvard] will only have to tough it out for the next couple of years, then we can go back to nornal.'

One thing anti-immigrant conservatives never contend with is the worst ideas they find most culturally destabilizing are our own You can’t blame Drag Queen Story Hour or woke on open borders. Those are pure homegrown American Anglosphere products

And by the way, the commie-adjacent annoying progressive second-gen immigrants are like that BECAUSE THEY ASSIMILATED. They didn’t learn it from their parents, they learned it from our homegrown annoying leftists!

Hyper-polarization and obstruction were Republican techniques adopted in 1994 and have carried through to the modern day. Go back and look at Bush 43 + Trump I terms - littered w/examples of Dems being bipartisan. Do the same w/Clinton+Obama+Biden. Not the same thing. Do better.
If we think of this year’s elections as a 1994-level realignment but for Dems, perhaps 2026 will be thought of as the beginning of the end of the era of hyper-polarization and toxic, noxious politics that began with the 1994 midterms

I'll admit racism is a helluva drug. I was a Detroit firefighter for 34 years. I watched a lot of guys I've worked with for decades expose themselves as racists when Obama became the president. Yet, there are some people that I really like and possibly considered friends, change in front of me. Recently, a DFD colleague exposed himself in a post after Abdul El-Sayed won here in Michigan. He explained why he thought that Muslims and foreign born citizens weren't good for America and should never hold political office. I never expected this from this guy because we were always on a good, friendly basis. I'd even call him a friend. I really respected him. Hell, he even had a black girlfriend/fiance for years. So, this is a whole lot of disappointing for me. I thought he was different. Then he posted this hateful post. I'm sure he doesn't give a F*ck about me saying this or being disappointed. We must remember that racists can only hide for so long before they reveal to you who they really are. Some disappointments don't come easy.

Absolutely insane update: it's now confirmed that the close friend of Huang was in fact an asset of a Beijing intelligence agency, the MSS. Trump was briefed and chose to do nothing about it.
Unreal: a close friend of Nvidia's Jensen Huang was uncovered as a Chinese intelligence asset tasked with steering advanced Nvidia AI chips into the hands of Beijing. Trump was briefed about the findings a year ago. He chose to do nothing. nytimes.com/2026/10/29/us/po…

James Talarico traces 50 years of trickle-down back to one 1971 document, the Powell memo, a corporate blueprint to buy power “In fact, you can, you can pinpoint this one document called the Powell memo, 1971.” “But if you read this memo, it's basically a blueprint for how corporate interests can start to dismantle the Great Society and the New Deal” “They're going to spend massive amounts of money in our politics, buying politicians in both parties, elevate corporate voices in media, appoint sympathetic judges.” “And that has really been the story of the last 50 years in this country, last five decades.” w/ @jamestalarico

This is correct substantively and rhetorically. In a catastrophically misguided attempt to avoid the perception that the law was being unequally applied, Biden and Merrick Garland didn't prosecute a rampantly criminal administration, which set the stage for a far more rampantly criminal Trump 2, which would have been avoided had the law been equally applied. Elite impunity is the skeleton key to understanding what went wrong in this country. It touches everything. For instance, if AI executives thought they might be criminally prosecuted for what their AI does (or how they pirated its training data), AI would be a hell of a lot safer.
"I don’t want Jared Kushner to be investigated because he’s the president’s son-in-law. I want him investigated because he’s potentially laundered and embezzled $2 billion dollars in funds from the governments of Saudi Arabia and the UAE. I don’t want Stephen Miller investigated because he’s a racist ghoul who’s at the center of the Trump brain trust. I want him investigated because he’s a racist ghoul who has violated the due-process rights of millions of people and, potentially, directly violated court orders. I don’t want Pete Hegseth investigated because he’s a toxic psychopath who is unqualified to lead America’s military forces. I want him investigated because he’s a fucking murderer who needs to spend the rest of his life in jail, either in this country or The Hague." thenation.com/article/politi…

I find it fascinating to see how many people woke up to the realization that California has a liquid labour market and no non competes. This is one of the most amazing things that creates enormous amount of innovation over there. I'm not sure what miracle created that environment, but it's amazing. I wish more countries had the balls.

I deadass hate shit like this.. Americans have been fucked so bad psychologically by the government and Billionaires/Corporations that they believe universal Healthcare, child care, and affordable housing isn't achievable when other countries have shown the blueprint for it
Who’s paying for it?? Shit is not free. Nothing is free in any society. So who’s paying for it? I don’t want to pay more taxes.

Here's the thing about abolishing the chud's right to vote, as well, that's obviously going to annoy chuds, but it's entirely true: Nothing bad can happen, it can only good happen. It would be incredible including the thing itself.

This is just bad faith nonsense and should be dismissed as such. Bus riders in New York are overwhelmingly working class and low income. Stats are from @RidersAlliance:
Faster bus lanes in a city where no progress has been made to stop the displacement of low income renters will merely be bus lanes for gentrifiers Urban renewal we haven’t seen since Robert Moses
