People always ask me what's the best thing to do in Japan. Honestly, the best thing to do is get lost in the city. Walk aimlessly. When you're tired, go to the first cafe you see without googling reviews. If it's mid thats fine, it's part of the journey that eventually becomes a sweet memory to share. Observe the details of the place. Visit a shrine or temple you find on your way and sit with the stillness it offers. Walk more. Follow the neon lights or laughter you hear from afar from a nearby izakaya. Feel the heartbeat of the city. You'll hear it breathing. Connect with the chaos and order. If you're lucky enough to find a rooftop where it's off limits, take in the million widows that stretch out to the horizon. So many souls are living, struggling, embracing, finding meaning to their lives. This is how I made Tokyo mine and I'm forever grateful for what it's given me. Make it your playground. Be inspired by the city itself as if it's a living creature (it is). You can and should do this everywhere in the world. Sonder
