🚨 Mikel Arteta responds to criticism of Arsenal’s style of play:
🎙️ Interviewer: Some critics say Arsenal’s style of play is boring, overly physical and simply not entertaining. Does that criticism bother you?
Mikel Arteta: “Honestly? No. I find it fascinating. When we try to play beautiful football, they say we lack aggression. When we become aggressive, they call us dirty. When we control games, they call us boring. So tell me, what exactly do these people want?”
Interviewer: “But some people argue that Arsenal prioritise winning over entertainment.
Mikel Arteta: “And what is wrong with that? We won the league last season. We reached the Champions League final. Now, after nine matches this season, we are top of the league again. At what point do we stop apologising for being successful?”
Interviewer: “Do you think rival fans are simply frustrated by Arsenal’s success?
Mikel Arteta: “Some people don’t want football to be about winning. They want us to play their preferred style, make mistakes, leave spaces and give them something to celebrate. Sorry, but we are not here to make rival fans happy.”
Interviewer: “So you would rather win ugly than lose beautifully?
Mikel Arteta: “Absolutely. Give me three points over applause. Give me trophies over compliments. Nobody remembers how entertaining you were when you finish second. If people want entertainment, they can watch a show. We are competing for titles.”
Interviewer: “Finally, what would you say to those who still call Arsenal boring?
Mikel Arteta: “Keep saying it. Keep calling us boring, dirty, whatever you want. Just make sure you check the league table afterwards. Because while you are discussing our style, we are collecting points.”

“we can't easily beat Arsenal anymore and we don't like it”.
I don’t say this a lot because I’m not a Luddite but Arsenal are legitimately everything wrong with modern football.
The way they play football is disgraceful.
But their fanbase is the biggest ick known to football.
I meet an Arsenal fan irl and I already know to disregard them. Nothing real about them. Pure plastic.

Breaking news: Arsenal have now invented “defending a lead” instead of doing the honourable thing and letting Liverpool’s £500m attack run into open space. More as we get it.

Arsenal's defence is entering all-time conversations. Gabriel Magalhães is comfortably on course to retire as one of the ten greatest defenders ever.

This is really poor by @FA. The governing body is supposed to protect players. It should be disputing this regulatory commission verdict by members drawn from the FA judicial panel. Max Dowman could have suffered a bad injury to his standing leg from a dangerous challenge which went unpunished. Arsenal 16-year-old shouldn’t have reacted but his frustration was understandable. Some other players might have rolled around and ensured a bad challenge was punished. Dowman didn’t. He doesn’t stay down. The FA should have shown some understanding towards Dowman. Instead, it has suspended him for three games. FA priorities all wrong: tolerating a poor challenge and some weak refereeing but punishing a kid who objected to a bad challenge that could have dealt him a serious injury. Protect players. #AFC
Arsenal really do fry everyone’s brains
We’re now at a point where, because it’s Arsenal, a scissor tackle at pace, almost trapping a standing leg, is a “good challenge” but a tiny reaction with zero force is “violent conduct”
Think for a second. Are you all fucking retarded?

No surprise. Common sense and football don’t go hand in hand.
It will be fun to watch on a weekly basis the countless examples of far worse incidents going completely unpunished.
Hopefully a valuable learning experience for Dowman though. Can’t afford to get sucked in to incidents like this.
Regulation & Discipline update on @Arsenal:

ALT An independent Regulatory Commission has dismissed claims of both wrongful dismissal and excessive punishment for Max Dowman. The Arsenal player was sent off during their EFL Cup game against Fleetwood Town on Tuesday 27 October and will be suspended for three matches. The Regulatory Commission’s written reasons for its decisions will be published in due course.
