He intends to sell Stelco β€œin a year or so,” once he β€œmakes some money.” He intends to strip it of assets and value and then offload the rumpβ€”true private equity style. Canada would have to bail out that rump or entirely lose domestic steel production. Nationalise Stelco now.

The Cleveland-Cliffs & Stelco story is not unique. The CEO is just a brash idiot who said the quiet part out loud. American capital regularly buys Canadian companies and weakens them to prevent competition. This is a major reason why our productivity is suffering.
