Well this is a new one ... I did not realize that passwords have availability associated with them. I am forced to wonder if they chose consistency or partition tolerance to go along with it.

An acquaintance was asking the order of things to learn JS development. I am not the best person to answer this ... Is it today to learn JS first or drop straight into something like TypeScript etc?

Serious developers need serious keyboards. I'm so proud to be the first user of The Key.
The reviews are in. The Key is flawless. #GreatArtistsCopy #TheKey

Why are we so shallow when we teach software development? 80% of the books are about stuff that you can read and learn *everywhere*, what about: observability, tracing, profiling, hardening, error handling/reporting, documentation, verification, ... All details? Sure...

The reason why often the users of a system and the designers of it have unaligned goals, is that the first are trying to solve a tactical problem, the seconds a strategical problem.

"This distributed system we call human society has scaled pretty well to over seven billion people, without any centralized point of control. Each person…focused on solving its own set of problems" Why not build software systems the same way? buff.ly/3g87gGG

I decided that retirement was boring and have joined the Developer Division at Microsoft. To do what? Too many options to say! But it’ll make using Python better for sure (and not just on Windows :-). There’s lots of open source here. Watch this space.

I just blogged "Writing system software: code comments". This is an attempt at reasoning about the usefulness of comments and to classify comments in nine distinct classes. Post at antirez.com/news/124. Thanks to @soveran for the feedbacks about the post.

Today, my dad cried over the phone, he wanted one week where he could use his computer without my help. He's blind. Each inaccessible webpage tells him, "you aren't welcome in this world." If you don't know whether your website or app is accessible: it's not. Start learning.
