Stocks are pricing growth. Bonds are pricing the discount rate. One of them has to give.

The scariest part of the AI bet is that nobody actually chose to make it.
If you manage money, you have no choice. Everywhere else in the market, there is basically nothing worth owning.
And that one basket is entirely a bet on the economy of the distant future.
The stock market and the credit markets are shoveling dollars into AI on assumptions about what the world looks like years down the road.
Meanwhile nobody wants to touch the economy of today, because today is not worth investing in.
That split has a name, the K-shaped economy.
Here is the problem. The road to that far-off future still has to run through the economy we actually have right now.
And that is exactly where it gets dangerous.

most of CY2027 HBM supply already locked up, prices rising year over year.
AI stocks took a breather but are bound to resume the uptrend soon. Sticking to sector leaders.

We dont have to be in 1998.
But it sure as hell would look smth like this if it was.
We have not seen one real pullback until the pullback that started in July.
Exposure levels went from max to 5 to 10y lows for hedgefunds, funds blew up, retail in Korea blew up...
Maybe we just went up and went straight into the crash, but with 2% adoption and GPU prices still moving higher, I am not sure we are done.

The inflation is indeed coming in waves.
It’s not extreme, and I keep saying there’s nothing to write home about in the near term.
But across developed countries, inflation is persistently above-target for years now.

I remember you saying in a podcast years ago that you expect the inflation to come in waves. Seems the sea is rough these days.

US STOCKS REBOUNDED AS CHIPMAKERS RALLIED, WITH THE NASDAQ 100 RISING 1.2% AND THE S&P 500 GAINING 0.4%, AS INVESTORS RENEWED OPTIMISM OVER AI-DRIVEN EARNINGS. UPCOMING RESULTS FROM META AND TESLA WILL TEST CONFIDENCE IN THE AI INVESTMENT BOOM.
This is so true in trading. Easy to write off each bad trade as a one off and move on, when the same root cause keeps showing up. Diagnosing that properly is tedious, but it is where the improvement happens.
The most common mistake I see people make is dealing with their problems as one-offs rather than using them to diagnose how their machine is working so that they can improve it.
They move on to fix problems without getting at their root causes, which is a recipe for continued failure. A thorough and accurate diagnosis, while more time-consuming, will pay huge dividends in the future. #principleoftheday

Very strong resemblance between the NDX and Korea's stock market during 2026. Magnitudes are different (beta) but the dance steps are largely the same.

ICYMI. At least $SPX is near record highs. Imagine the impetus to monetize equity in second homes if that was not the case.
