And I’m Rory Stewart, I believe the Pakistani grooming gangs are an irrelevant problem.

You can ignore reality, but you can’t ignore the consequences of ignoring reality.
One of the biggest mistakes we’ve made in the West is treating immigration as a question of virtue instead of a question of governance.
Of course our country can help people fleeing genuine persecution. But not against the wishes of its citizens!
That isn’t extremism. It’s reality.

I'll make my point a little more seriously.
£37bn of tax money of many people reading this went during Covid to allegedly corrupt people and organisations.
Not one head has rolled, not one person arrested, not one person doorstepped to answer questions.
Just one puff ball interview with one woman and her husband.
That £37bn has cost British lives, savings, businesses and hope. Still, 4 years later, zero accountability for a monster political story.
Instead, in all seriousness, a senior UK tv journalist has tweeted a story that's so irrelevant that anyone reading it can only draw one conclusion. That "look over there at a shiny bulshit story that'll titilate " replaces serious political journalism surrounding corruption of the state.
You've just tweeted a one liner in Private Eye when you should be looking for the front page of UK state corruption.
Sky News can reveal Home Secretary Yvette Cooper went for free to a Taylor Swift concert as guest of Swift’s music label Universal Music.
Ms Cooper went as a guest of her huband, Ed Balls who was given four tickets.
Later that month the home secretary had discussions about boosting protection for Ms Swift when she was in London after concerts were cancelled in Vienna because of a foiled attack
Mr Balls received the tickets on August 4, before the Swift's shows in Vienna were cancelled
This has not appeared in the public register to date because the tickets were understood to be worth £170 - less than the £300 that would make it a declarable expense.
Earlier today the home secretary made the declaration to the cabinet office.

You probably know the start of this Olympic story, but do you know how it finished?
This photo is of Eric Moussambani, aka 'Eric the Eel' from Equatorial Guinea, competing in the 100m Freestyle event at the Sydney 2000 Olympics, alone.
Why?

AI BOOM TO CONTINUE IN 2024, "BIG TO GET BIGGER" - UBS
"Global AI demand is expected to soar from $28 billion in 2022, to $300 billion by 2027. We expect the infrastructure segment of the AI market to grow by 38% between 2022 and 2027, while the applications and models segment will boom by 139%.
The big are likely to get bigger. An unusual feature of generative AI is that, right from the onset of the new technology, many of the same companies are already operating in multiple stages of the value chain - from cloud to the ownership of large language models (LLMs), to the development of end-user applications.
With that in mind, it is perhaps understandable why the market capitalization of the Magnificent 7 has more than doubled so far in 2023. With the significant resources needed to build and benefit from complex AI models, we expect the large players to grow larger still.
The long-term growth potential is large, and any pullbacks after a strong run in 2023 could present attractive entry points to increase exposure to these leaders from disruption." - UBS EQUITY RESEARCH

You will have read many times on Twitter that the UK economy has been the worst performing among the G7’s most prosperous nations since the pandemic. Said without caveat and often gleefully by a Twitter mob that revels in doing the country down. Well, now that the official stats have been revised independently, an up-to-date G7 league table shows this: the UK lagged behind only the fast-growing North American economies of the US and Canada. It has outperformed Europe’s three major economies — Germany, France and Italy, as well as Japan — since the pandemic. Who wudda thunk it?!

Jesse Owens of USA winning gold for the long jump in the summer Olympics in Germany, 1936. The man saluting behind Owens is Lutz Long, a German who shared training tips with Owens and was the first to openly congratulate him after his final jump in full view of Hitler.
After the Olympics, the two kept in touch via mail. Below is Long's last letter to Owens while he was stationed with the German Army in North Africa during World War 2. Long was later killed in action during the allied invasion of Sicily in 1943.
"I am here, Jesse, where it seems there is only the dry sand and the wet blood. I do not fear so much for myself, my friend Jesse, I fear for my woman who is home, and my young son Karl, who has never really known his father.
My heart tells me, if I be honest with you, that this is the last letter I shall ever write. If it is so, I ask you something. It is a something so very important to me.
It is you go to Germany when this war done, someday find my Karl, and tell him about his father. Tell him, Jesse, what times were like when we not separated by war. I am saying—tell him how things can be between men on this earth.
If you do this something for me, this thing that I need the most to know will be done, I do something for you, now. I tell you something I know you want to hear. And it is true.
That hour in Berlin when I first spoke to you, when you had your knee upon the ground, I knew that you were in prayer. Then I not know how I know. Now I do. I know it is never by chance that we come together. I come to you that hour in 1936 for purpose more than der Berliner Olympiade.
And you, I believe, will read this letter, while it should not be possible to reach you ever, for purpose more even than our friendship. I believe this shall come about because I think now that God will make it come about. This is what I have to tell you, Jesse.
I think I might believe in God. And I pray to him that, even while it should not be possible for this to reach you ever, these words I write will still be read by you.
Your brother, Luz"
