🌍 Meet the 2026 Carol Bellamy Leadership Award Torchbearers.
First up: West Africa!
The Carol Bellamy Leadership Award (CBLA) honours the legacy of Carol Bellamy, former Chair of GCERF’s Governing Board, by empowering women leaders and women-led organisations working to prevent violent extremism and terrorism.
🤝Each award provides USD 2,000 to support locally driven initiatives that create positive change in communities. In each country, a women leader or women-led organisation is selected by a Torchbearer - GCERF partner organisations locally based who identified, mentored, and monitored awardees.
Thanks to the continued support of @AuswaertigesAmt, alongside additional support from Carol Bellamy herself, the award has expanded its reach to 24 countries in 2026 !
And the awardees from West Africa are:
🎉 Ghana | Awardee: Martha Inspires Foundation, led by Martha Anabila | Torchbearer: @norsaac
🎉 Nigeria | Awardee: Youth in Action, led by Maryam Hassan | Torchbearer: @murnakatsina
👏 Through their commitment to empowering women and supporting locally led solutions, the awardees are helping build safer, more resilient communities across West Africa.
👉 Join us in celebrating these inspiring women leaders and the organisations empowering their journeys! Stay tuned as we spotlight awardees from other regions in the coming weeks.

New Zealand is deeply concerned at reports of attacks by Israeli settlers against diplomatic personnel and journalists in the West Bank. We call on Israel to conduct an immediate and full investigation and expect accountability for those responsible. Israel must take action to end ongoing settler violence in the West Bank.

every moral panic about women “abandoning the home” is also a panic about who will do the labor if women stop doing it for free.

Funny how a man who supposedly "can't control his anger" can stay polite with his boss, patient with clients, and calm around his friends, then suddenly explode at his girlfriend?
That isn't losing control. It's choosing a target, which is why abuse is a choice.

Estoy enamorada de esta frase:
Si no sucede de la forma en que querías, va a suceder de una forma mejor de lo que imaginaste.
Esa es la belleza del plan de Dios.

I love when a woman doesn’t announce her moves, then boom: quantum leaped, new address, new lover, new income, new timeline.

I learned something very beautiful today. In French, “bibliothèque intérieure” means your “inner library” the invisible shelf you carry inside, filled with every story that’s ever shaped you.

October is #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth.
Be aware of breast cancer symptoms. Early diagnosis of breast cancer generally increases the chances of successful treatment.
Here’s what you can do:
✅ Perform monthly self-breast exams
✅ See a doctor if you notice any changes

The purpose of prayer is not to inform God of your circumstances. He is well aware. It’s to surrender your agenda, trust in His sovereignty, and admit he has the ultimate authority of your life.

Understanding consent has never been the issue. Respecting consent is.
To respect consent, you must respect someone’s personhood and bodily autonomy. Patriarchy teaches us not only to disrespect both, but to deny their existence.

The root cause of rape has always been power. It's not lust nor desire. It's power. The men who rape women do it because it gives them power over her, and that makes them feel good. That's why rape is a war crime, is tied to supremacist ideals, and is a big part of the patriarchy

A lot of men today are losing relationships over behaviors their fathers got away with for years. they were raised to believe women would tolerate disrespect, betrayal, and control and still stay. but a lot of women inherited a different lesson: “what my mother had to endure, i refuse to.”
