American national security cannot depend on foreign-controlled supply chains.
Today, President Trump announced nearly $2 billion across three new Office of Strategic Capital (OSC) deals to secure the critical materials and components that strengthen the American industrial base and deliver more lethal technologies for the warfighter.
In Fiscal Year 2026, OSC has already committed more than $8 billion in debt financing and mobilized nearly $18 billion in total public and private capital to companies across the critical minerals and materials sector, with no intention of slowing down.
.@POTUS: 250 years ago, America won our political independence... now, in my second term, we're achieving our economic independence, ensuring that America is never again reliant on hostile foreign nations for the resources our country needs to dominate in the future.
Critical minerals are the raw materials of American strength that power everything from advanced weaponry to automobiles, and we want these essential products to be mined, refined, and made right here in the USA.
The United States has lost more than 3,400 mines over the past 3 decades, but now, they're coming back, and they're coming back fast.
Over the past 18 months, our administration has signed or approved more than 160 mineral deals worth nearly $40B, and today, the U.S. is opening up new mines at the fastest pace since the 1950s.
