This is why Aisha Wahab was named as the Senate Housing Chair. It's why LA has permitted so few new homes after the Palisades fire. It's why the state is eye-wateringly expensive. And it's why young and working class people are fleeing. 2/2

There’s a clear choice in this race: I’ve fought to build the homes we need to lower costs. My opponent has only blocked them.

Another vulnerability few are talking about: I found my Claude Code exposing personal data in http headers because the sites it curled politely asked agents to identify their users 😊

I'm just going to assume any pollster I've never heard of is straight up fabricated. I know it's unfair but they should have policed their industry better.

kind of bizarre there is no prominent French YIMBY movement. Paris produces very little housing per capita!

Replying to @lugaricano @HannoLustig
You shouldn't believe everything you read in the newspaper. Of course the french welfare state has been dismantled, systematically, François Mitterrand. Macron is just finishing the dirty work. Why do you think young people take to the street today ? Neoliberlism has failed, miserably.

These are the people who have controlled land-use policy in California for the last 50+ years. This is why we have a housing crisis. This is everything wrong with blue city/state governance distilled down to its essence.

"Capitalism is why people have to work" is very silly thing to say, but it's part of a grand tradition of blaming literally everything, no matter how absurd, on capitalism.

My legislation to close two loopholes used to stop new housing — especially affordable housing — just received final approval from the Senate and is on its way to the Governor.
SB 677 closes two loopholes used to obstruct/delay new housing:
1. Frivolous subdivision mapping appeals for projects that have already received their permits. These appeals have been used to delay affordable housing in San Francisco, in the Mission and Bernal Heights (articles about these projects attached below and in the second threaded tweet). They serve no purpose other than delay, and SB 677 puts a stop to these appeals.
2. Abuse of required city council hearings on tax exempt affordable housing bonds: Certain kinds of federal affordable housing bonds — essential for financing of these projects — require a city council hearing. While this is a pro forma procedural step, a city council can simply not hold the hearing and effectively delay or even kill the project. SB 677 empowers the California Treasurer to set up an alternative process to ensure this financing can occur.
Neither one of these changes in the law is sexy or headline grabbing. But they close loopholes that are undermining our ability to build the housing we so desperately need. thefrisc.com/how-to-delay-af…
