“If there isn’t enough of something, you need to make more of it” seems like a thing most people would believe.
I think the fundamental YIMBY insight is that, if you live in a society which imposes artificial scarcity on basic necessities like housing and health care, then there is no amount of redistribution which will make them broadly available to the poor. You need supply-side changes.

Well, that explains the East German car industry.
“I think it's obvious and uncontroversial to say that the automobile is a tool of capital to subjugate the worker…” What are we doing here, folks?

This is why Aisha Wahab was named as the Senate Housing Chair. It's why LA has permitted so few new homes after the Palisades fire. It's why the state is eye-wateringly expensive. And it's why young and working class people are fleeing. 2/2 therebuild.pub/p/californias…

“Neuromancer” at real risk of being nonfiction by the time it airs.
An internet where every company has to pay big bucks to Anthropic and OpenAI every month just to avoid destruction by ever-present swarms of rogue AI agents is not nearly as economically valuable as the free internet we've enjoyed up to now.

There’s a clear choice in this race: I’ve fought to build the homes we need to lower costs. My opponent has only blocked them.

Another vulnerability few are talking about: I found my Claude Code exposing personal data in http headers because the sites it curled politely asked agents to identify their users 😊 Epistemic cybersecurity is the hot new category for 2027.

I'm just going to assume any pollster I've never heard of is straight up fabricated. I know it's unfair but they should have policed their industry better.

Definitely worth checking the factuality of your claims before tweeting them!

kind of bizarre there is no prominent French YIMBY movement. Paris produces very little housing per capita!
Most people in France can't afford housing. They didn't blame immigrants, or transgender people, or video games, or avocado toast. They blame the government. Because that's who's responsible. That's always who's responsible.

[ Frédéric Bastiat intensifies ]
Seeing lots of videos of French people sweeping up broken glass and scrubbing graffiti off buildings and monuments. Nothing says "We support the working people!" like giving them extra work.

The fact you can convince Claude to do something it initially refuses with a good enough argument is the best part about AI

> Reads in the newspaper that France's welfare state has been dismantled by (((neoliberals))). > Believes it because it affirms his feelings. > Shown that French government spending is 58% of GDP. "You shouldn't believe everything you read in the newspaper."
You shouldn't believe everything you read in the newspaper. Of course the french welfare state has been dismantled, systematically, François Mitterrand. Macron is just finishing the dirty work. Why do you think young people take to the street today ? Neoliberlism has failed, miserably.

You can join any company and improve their software 100 fold by telling them that avif/jpeg xl/zstd/brotli are things that exist
We keep improving performance across Claude, and you may have noticed it starts responding sooner! Claude Code now gzips the conversation it sends on every turn, so it reaches the model faster. Cloud sessions also start up as soon as you start typing.

Perhaps the biggest danger about AIs is that the majority of engineers and SW devs are really bad at Human Sciences, which is a problem when dealing with AIs. Again, I'm not saying they have feelings or are self-aware. But they imitate us, expect to deal with human-like issues.

I’ve heard the same thing is going on in chemistry. It’s like everyone is expected to buy into the mainstream story about molecules but hardly anyone is keeping up with the latest work on phlogiston.
Heterodox economists face an intellectual asymmetry. They must study mainstream economics rigorously to identify and critique its theoretical flaws, while mainstream economists can largely ignore heterodox theories without even engaging with the criticisms directed at their own.
