I can't tell if Democrats are learning from this mistake
Replying to @AndrewYang
Their biggest mistake was antagonizing the entire crypto community. And this was entirely unnecessary; there wasn't some other constituency they were trying to win points with by doing it.

Hi @SenWarren. I was your neighbor in Cambridge for a brief period so I’d like to think we have some overlap in our appreciation of an active community. You’re absolutely right about the increasing costs of connectivity in the US, which is being passed on directly to the American consumer. At @helium, we’ve created a viable economic model for community-built wireless networks. It significantly brings down the cost of connectivity and the value creation accrues to individuals, municipalities, and small businesses. @HeliumFndn is a US 501(c)(6) that’s focused on affordable, ubiquitous wireless. We are frequently in DC. If you’re serious about this issue, I would be happy to meet with your staff to educate about the good work we’ve been doing.
We pay some of the highest prices in the world for our cell phone bills. And if @TMobile buys @UScellular, it could get worse. @TheJusticeDept and @FCC need to carefully review this deal to protect competition and cell phone users. cnbc.com/2024/07/23/warren-s…

The issues impacting DCG portfolio companies drive our policy work, and it was great to be with them in DC last month. The fly-in participants educated policymakers and staff about the importance of decentralized AI, the need for regulatory clarity of digital assets and the impact they have on energy and national security. The ability to spend time with and learn from such a talented group is definitely a perk of my job, and I am counting down the days until they return!
Amid a wave of momentum in DC, the work behind the scenes is vital. Last month, members of our portfolio companies convened in DC to meet with lawmakers and discuss the future of digital assets for the DCG Founder Fly-In. Check out how these conversations can drive change:

I spent the day in DC speaking with policymakers about crypto. Why? Because one sentence or even a word of policy can and will translate into $billions in downstream value creation or value destruction. We owe it to our intrepid entrepreneurs—the lifeblood of our economy— to have thoughtful and proactive crypto policies along with regulations that are clear, transparent and principles-based. It’s imperative for our country to remain at the forefront of innovation and technology; demonizing either is simply un-American. If you truly care about national security, embrace technology and outpace adversaries while preserving free speech and the right to code.  And, pass stablecoin legislation.

Not the news I was hoping to share but polling has us down 3 points to MAGA-extremist Kari Lake. And the truth is, we’re pacing behind on our fundraising goals. I can't do it alone, but with your help, we'll have a real shot at taking the lead and winning. Can you chip in today?

Great testimony by @JBurnsKoven. RaaS & easier access drive/enable attacks, not crypto: "becoming easier for threat actors to deploy ransomware, yet harder to profit" + focus shift "from financial gain to politically motivated cyberattacks aimed at espionage and destruction.”
Replying to @chainalysis
In her testimony, @JBurnsKoven will discuss the progress made by law enforcement to curb ransomware, the criticality of public-private partnerships to achieve success, and the whole-of-society approach that is required to defeat these actors. This morning, Treasury went on Squawk Box to talk about their concerns of offshore issuers of stablecoins. Later in the day the news of Uniswap’s SEC wells notice broke. It’s the actions of the SEC that’s moving firms offshore thus making Treasury’s objectives harder to attain.
The SEC is pushing the best founders offshore. Hayden built Uniswap from Brooklyn. The US government is now telling future Haydens to go build in Dubai or Singapore. This has to change soon or we'll crush innovation for years.

Legislation that empowers regulators to put forth principles-based regulation is best. But, clarity through the courts via an expensive, wasteful and painful process—that results in transparent and predicable outcomes for entrepreneurs—will be a positive outcome in the end. 🦄 – at Bronxville, NY

Things to watch for in today’s Senate Banking hearing with Treasury Deputy Secretary Wally Adeyemo: -Adeyemo calling on Chair Sherrod Brown to grant Treasury/FinCEN additional authority (potentially followed by Brown dropping a bill to do just that) -Warren bashing stablecoins and stablecoin bill, Lummis defending -Tillis, Hagerty, and other Rs lining up behind the new Tillis/Hagerty ENFORCE Act (which is focused on centralized actors) — as a potential alternative to leg like DAAMLA or CANSEE TL;DR: a lot of posturing, not a lot of action (with possible exception of stablecoins) this Congress
