Socialism is the belief that Amazon workers would have spontaneously created Amazon if Jeff Bezos didn't exist.
“Socialism never works.” Well, it never works to bring prosperity, peace or liberty. But it does work to bring a lot of power and prestige to a very few politicians and bureaucrats.

Rape isn’t awkward, unwanted, unenthusiastic touch, it’s a violent crime. Hugging someone if you don’t feel like it doesn’t make you more/less likely to be raped. But I hate how transactional this line of thinking is. “Nobody owes you” is a weird thing to say within a family.

The affection is not ordinary if consent is not given. Children do no owe grandparents physical affection.

Families are best placed to understand their own children. Parents & grandparents are not imbeciles who require state-funded campaigns to teach them how to greet their grandchildren. This approach infantilises adults and removes agency from teenagers by turning ordinary familial affection into a formal “consent” lesson that outsiders must mediate. Real safeguarding addresses actual risks; it does not pathologise normal bonds between children and the people who love them. Irish parents have constitutional recognition as the primary educators of their children. The State should respect that boundary rather than micromanage private family relationships.
The hyperbolic language and reaction to a ad highlighting the need for safe adults to also prioritise consent is demonstrating the widespread and deep rooted issues Ireland (a deeply mysgonistic society) continues to have with consent. Depressing.

Speaking as someone who is socially awkward myself, if you see the mundane interaction of hugging your grandparents as a violation of consent, you are fucked in the head, most likely evil, and I feel no sympathy towards you. Like, gIve me a fucking break.
🇮🇪 The Irish state has published an advert discouraging grandparents from hugging their grandchildren, as part of a campaign designed to promote "consent".

A lot of you replied to my last post, so here are a few thoughts. The majority of people on a team the size of Veilguard’s had little or no say in the things you disliked about it. Right up to the end, BioWare still had many people who worked on the games you loved. I also have my own issues with modern entertainment, especially when political messaging gets in the way of good storytelling. I was the guy responsible for the broodmothers in Origins, but also the guy who wanted Zevran to be a same-sex romance. Years later, my son told me he was gay (he gave me permission to share this). I converted to Catholicism several years ago. My son and I love each other and enjoy arguing over politics and religion. My favorite character is Conan the Barbarian, and I love the art of Frank Frazetta, Brom and Chris Achilleos. What I’m trying to say is that it’s possible to hold views that don’t fit neatly into anyone’s political camp, and to love and respect people you disagree with. People are complicated. That includes the people who make the games you love or hate.

Chris Avellone (Planescape, KOTOR 2, and Fallout: New Vegas) just dropped a MEGATON NUKE regarding BioWare's hiring practices... "...when applicants would apply to the studio, the producer would go through their LinkedIn to see what posts they liked, and if he disagreed with their political/social Like, he'd advocate not to hire them based on their Like." ITS TRUE. EVERYTHING WE'VE BEEN SAYING. ITS ALL TRUE. HOLY SHIT!

Oh my goodness this has to be right. Instead of generating a random 256-bit number they generated a random number between 0 and 256. That’s how they got 4, 66, 155, 156, 230 and 237.

Well, as you've probably noticed, there's a controversial discussion going on, and since controversy isn't something I shy away from, I'd like to chip in. Specifically I would like to show example of using Ai acceleration to achieve YOUR vision while maintain absolute control over the result, hence this thread. So here's a tool I've made, which I'll talk about a bit more in the comments. #gamedev #indiedev
