We're about to enter a period where not reading or writing becomes as ubiquitous as smoking once was. We can hope people will eventually realize this is bad for them, as they did with smoking. But this is far from certain; the cost may not be as obvious.

Everyone should be reading in some capacity. Even if it’s just articles or someone’s newsletter at this point honestly. It scares me that people are losing sight of how important it is

The new image carousel is the biggest UX downgrade in this site's history. There was an entire art form around 4x image polyptych, especially among Japanese photographers, who I learned a lot from stylistically. With 4 seen all together you create a mood, its very impressionist

I saw a post on Reddit that said, “When you walk through a museum, you’re not just looking at art. You’re moving through centuries of people trying to explain love, grief, power, beauty, and belonging.” I don’t think I’ve ever seen a museum described so beautifully.

gonna play the heck out of GTA 6 simply because of its status as a cultural artefact: the final big game built before LLMs no-one will ever invest this much in a game again, no software will ever encode this quantity of hands-on human labour again. the last of the great pyramids
JUST IN: GTA 6 estimated to have cost $1 billion

Contrary to belief, I am of the opinion that even as Claude reaches extreme levels of proficiency, the uneven distribution of agency in the world will still mean that there is going to be a clear demarcation between consumers and builders. It is much easier to teach someone how to do something than it is to teach someone on how to want something.
