Vládnoucí strana Gruzínský sen se už roky snaží systematicky vymazat z paměti společnosti éru předchozí vlády UNM, spojenou s Mikheilem Saakashvilim (prezidentem 2004–2013).
Ačkoliv Saakashvili přinesl zemi ekonomický růst a silné proevropské směřování, nejsilnější vzpomínkou zůstává válka s ruskem v 2008 a ztráta dvou území.
Kromě slov ale režim podniká i konkrétní kroky k vymazání historie – architektonickou čistku; Dlouho odkládaný tweet o tom, jaké architektonické prvky mizí z povrchu (8)👇
„it’s okay, just go there.“
Tomu odpovídá i počet policistů, kteří protestující doprovázejí a kontrolují.

The situation in Albania🇦🇱 is catastrophic.
Police are firing rubber bullets. Today, a young man lost his eye. They are shooting at elderly people without mercy and throwing tear gas into areas where children are present.

In an unprecedented move, Albanian Prime Minister #EdiRama publicly targeted protesters by name during a press conference, displaying their photographs, personal information, and what he described as their past “violations of the law.”
Is this the democracy?

Protože v takovém případě snad ani Kushnerovi nepřeji to, co mu bude Kongres dělat😁.

The Georgian Diplomats’ Society has warned that Georgian Dream Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze’s appointment of First Deputy Foreign Minister Giorgi Zurabashvili as his special representative for relations with Russia marks a “dangerous trend” that could undermine the Geneva International Discussions and pave the way for restoring diplomatic relations with Moscow.
The association stressed that previous special representatives had never been serving Foreign Ministry diplomats and that their mandates were limited to economic, cultural and humanitarian matters, with meetings conducted informally.
“Granting this status to the incumbent First Deputy Foreign Minister could be regarded as a form of restoring diplomatic relations, or as preparing the ground for doing so,” the statement said.
*The diplomats expressed particular concern over the expansion of the envoy’s mandate to include the “peaceful resolution of the conflict with Russia,” warning that this effectively creates an alternative to the Geneva International Discussions.
Established following Russia’s 2008 invasion of Georgia, the Geneva format involves the EU, UN and OSCE as co-chairs, with US participation. The association stressed that the format was designed to ensure Georgia would not be left negotiating with Russia alone.
The diplomats warned that the appointment threatens both Georgia’s longstanding position of maintaining no diplomatic relations with Russia and the prospects for a peaceful settlement.
Kobakhidze announced Zurabashvili’s appointment on October 21, saying he would retain his position as First Deputy Foreign Minister. Russian politician Konstantin Zatulin welcomed the move as a “step in the right direction.”
Bidzina Ivanishvili chce zakázat opoziční strany.
Edi Rama chce zakázat protestujícím cestovat vlakem a letadlem a vstup do hotelu.
What a wonderful day! 🧑🩰
🚨🇦🇱 BREAKING: EDI RAMA THREATENS TO BAN PROTESTING STUDENTS FROM TRANSPORT — BUT ALBANIA HAS NO OPERATING PASSENGER RAILWAY NETWORK!
⚡️During a press conference, Rama says students participating in protests will be denied access to airports, hotels, trains, and other means of transportation.
🇦🇱 THREATENING STUDENTS FOR PROTESTING? AND TRAINS IN ALBANIA? THE IRONY IS UNREAL.

Georgia's Constitutional Court has begun hearing a case filed by 88 Georgian Dream MPs seeking to ban five opposition coalitions and parties—United National Movement, Coalition for Change, Strong Georgia-Lelo, Gakharia for Georgia, and Federalists.
The MPs claim these parties aim to violently overthrow Georgia's constitutional order, undermine its independence, and violate its territorial integrity. Their arguments include: past human rights violations, refusal to recognize election results, attempts to change power by force, the five parties acting as a single political force, and "foreign pressure" against the state.

The protests in 🇦🇱 Albania are not similar with those in 🇫🇷 France or 🇩🇪 Germany.
In Albania, the younger generation is fighting to end corruption, confronting a state literally captured by a small group that has immunity and a de facto permission to break the law without being held accountable.
Another important element is that those in power in Albania do not have the legitimacy enjoyed by other EU governments, because it has been proven how extensively money generated through corruption is used to corrupt the electoral process.
And it is even worse, when the independent justice system attempts to arrest and stop those responsible, they use the parliamentary votes secured through those elections as a shield getting immunity.
They use organised crime and the intelligence service to serve their electoral interests and corruption.
In Albania we have a system entirely corrupted by a small clique.
Our goal is for our system to become precisely like those in France or Germany, where people there protest over “luxury” concerns such as inflation.
We are fighting for something more basic, something they secured centuries ago, a state governed by the rule of law and a real democracy.
Winning an election does not give anyone permission to put themselves above the law.
If money obtained through corruption is used to buy votes, and the parliamentary majority secured through those votes is then used to protect the people involved from justice, corruption becomes a way both to gain power and to avoid accountability. Otherwise the people being investigated get to decide whether justice can reach them.
We also have to look at what happens before election day in order to understand why the Albanians see no legitimacy to the political system.
When public resources are used to help the ruling party and employees face pressure over their votes, counting the ballots correctly cannot fix everything that happened before they were cast.
And the damage goes much further than the money stolen.
A young person can study for years, their parents can sacrifice everything to educate them, and then they discover that getting ahead depends on political connections.
An honest business cannot compete fairly if another company has politicians or people from the circle of patronage protecting it, we are fighting against pure and organised clientelism that has no parallel in the continent.
This affects the whole direction of people’s lives.
That is also why telling young people to leave if they are unhappy is such a terrible solution, like what the current political system is offering to those outside of the patronage system.
Why should they have to abandon their country, their parents and their friends because they want a fair chance?
Leaving should be a choice.
People should be able to build a decent life at home without owing their future to a party.
🔴 The same applies to speaking publicly.
A teacher should be able to disagree with the government without fearing for their job.
A student should be able to protest without worrying that their parents will pay the price.
A right means very little if people are afraid to use it.
Comparing footage of clashes in Tirana with footage from Paris tells us very little about these problems.
We need to ask whether citizens can challenge those in power, choose freely those in power, whether public institutions treat them fairly and whether officials can be investigated without political interference.
If someone commits violence during a protest, that person should answer for it.
Their actions do not make the corruption allegations disappear or cancel everyone else’s right to protest.
We are fighting against Lukashenko of the Balkans because he is stealing the elections through corruption money, they are fighting against Macron because the inflation.

🇦🇱 Tirana, Albania
Older Albanians playing dominoes in a park are furious at Gen Z protesters for burning the city and destroying property.
“Stop the destruction! We will not submit to violence,” they say.
“They demand resignation, but who are they handing power to? To those who burn? Form a political party and go to elections,” says one elderly man.
Their message: if you want change, organize politically, not through chaos and destruction.
Albánie je moje druhá nej nej země, což znamená, že je fucked (: V Tiraně poslední dny eskalují protesty proti Edimu Rama. Přijíždějí na ně lidé z celé země.
Hoří auta i státní budovy a policie používá slzný plyn, vodní děla i gumové projektily.

Opposition journalist Vakho Sanaia sentenced to 30 days in prison for a Facebook post.
Ivanishvili’s Judge Tornike Kochkiani sentenced Sanaia to 30 days of administrative detention for allegedly insulting Georgian Dream Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili. In July, Sanaia was sentenced to 14 days in prison for another Facebook post mentioning Papuashvili.
The imprisonment is part of the larger Georgian Dream campaign against political satire and freedom of speech. We express solidarity with Vakho Sanaia and all prisoners of conscience!

one thing I think GD officials don't consider is how much of a generational gap there is in Georgia between boomers vs everyone else, considering that life expectancy is much lower here compared to the west, a big chunk of their genuine supporters will simply die out in 10 years
To rozhodně!

Georgian Dream Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Yerevan on Friday, with Tehran calling for a concrete action plan to deepen bilateral cooperation amid growing concerns over Iranian influence in Georgia.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of an international summit in the Armenian capital. According to the Iranian presidency, Pezeshkian called for a clear framework and timetable to expand economic, cultural and tourism cooperation between the two countries.
Kobakhidze, for his part, stressed Georgia’s “opposition to foreign interference in neighbouring countries’ domestic affairs” and emphasised the “importance of friendship and cooperation with Iran.”
During the meeting, Pezeshkian also criticised U.S. sanctions against Iran, defended Tehran’s nuclear programme and insisted that Iran would not submit to external pressure.
Naštěstí už to přestalo fungovat.
