The games we've long wanted, which didn't exist because they'd cost several times more to make than they'd earn back, will soon become possible. As will the games developers wanted to build, but couldn't with the resources available. It'll be a new golden age of gaming.

Oh FFS. It turns out the req/s in the initial vibed Rust version is within the same order of magnitude as the initial vibed Elixir/Go versions, and even performs worse in some of them.
The history is in the repository! The Rust version only got faster with a bunch of additional work. The initial Elixir/Go versions presented in the tweet below saw none of this additional work. It was comparing a 300 commits Rust version with a 2-3 commits Elixir/Go version.

I've had agents implement and optimize the Campfire web app in Elixir, Go, and Rust. Yes, Ruby is the slowest. I didn't care about that when the pay-off was huge in terms of productivity and developer joy. But if you're no longer reading the code? github.com/basecamp/once-cam…

The shown benchmarks use non-equivalent implementations: Elixir routes all DB queries through a single GenServer with Redis for jobs (retained from Rails), while Rust uses in-process queues, omits CSRF tags/fields, and applies other caching changes.

One more launch today: the new MCP Events spec is now supported in ChatGPT 🎉
MCP servers can now push real-time updates (messages, comments, status changes, whatever) to ChatGPT, triggering automations for your users 🤯
It’s easy to add to your MCP server, too! Just point Codex at the docs and let it rip:

in the early days of WWI, military aircrafts did not have synchronized machine guns, so pilots sometimes fired handguns at each other during flights.
this resulted in the M1911 pistol with an extended magazine and a wire brass-catching cage.

This is not some over reaction, these same brilliant minds who short-changed our stockpile to dump money into ridiculous platforms and programs among other squandering would have put our men and women into a peer conflict against china without the magazine depth to protect them past the opening salvos of the conflict. (That is if the logistics could even support that!) This is hideous. For years this never made sense, especially as the peer threats rose again. I have been writing about this for many years. And even after Ukraine kicked off, piecemeal movement. You should be outraged. largest defense budget on earth and this is what we get for our troops.

Preventing companies from building data centers in America wouldn't slow down the rate of progress in AI. It would merely slow down the rate of progress in AI in America.
