Urgent: Support Dr. Byram Bridle's wife Jocelyn, after Quadruple Amputation Last week I released this interview on my Facebook and email newsletter and it received significant attention. Today, I have a heartrending, but touching interview below with both of them sharing their story. Many of you know Dr. Bridle for his courageous stand during and after the Pandemic. An associate professor and an immunologist, Dr. Bridle was well-placed to understand the potential dangers of the COVID jab, and was one of the first and only professionals of his kind to share concerns about the jab publicly. In the Spring of 2021 he was a guest at my Parliamentary Press Conference on medical censorship that became the most viewed Canadian parliamentary video of all time in only 48 hours. Shortly after, it was censored by Youtube. He appeared on Tucker Carlson's show, and various others, and also became a noted expert witness in many of the cases that have been profiled on this email before. For this he endured significant harassmentprofessionally and privately. A little over a year ago, his family experienced a significant tragedy. Jocelyn Bridle, his lovely wife of 30 years, experienced a rare but explosive bacterial infection, which led in only a few days to hospitalization and a 13 day coma. During this time, tissue in all her limbs died, and she underwent a quadruple amputation. Living quadruple amputees are extremely rare, as most who require such extensive surgery do not survive, or are already gone. Though she went through innumerable challenges, and almost died multiple times in the hospital, Jocelyn has exceeded all expectations. Against all odds, she is currently walking againon prosthetics, even though she was told she would never walk again. Her determination and positivity have been an inspiration to everyone in her path. The Bridle's had to do extensive renovations to their home to make it possible for Jocelyn to function inside. Now they are looking at a special prosthetic arm and hand that will actually respond to the muscle twitches in Jocelyn's elbow. Like all prosthetics, the arm is extremely expensive, and is largely uncovered by the government. They need to raise $100,000 for this arm. In our interview below, Dr. Bridle and Jocelyn shared with me that a few days before their 29th wedding anniversary last September, Jocelyn felt a bit under the weather. The next day she had excruciating pain in her abdomen area, and also in her knee. She went to the hospital that day, where they found she was septic (a life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by an infection), and shortly thereafter, had to induce a coma to keep her alive. During the coma of 13 days, she almost died multiple times. In response to the raging bacterial infection, her body shunted blood away from her extremities to protect the core. During this time, significant tissue died in all her limbs. When she awoke from the coma, Doctors expected to cut off her limbs at the shoulders, and at the hip. In other words, they expected to amputate the entirety of all 4 limbs. With painstaking advocacy, waiting, and seeking other opinions, they were able to keep portions of all her limbs. In what can only be described as a miracle, three of her amputations are below the elbow or knee (keeping her joint, and allowing for many more prosthetic options) and only one is above the knee. Given the initial plan was to amputate the entirety of all limbs, this is truly divine providence. You can see current pictures of Jocelyn below. Her prosthetics on her arms are insufficient for the tasks of daily living, which is why she needs an upgrade. Byram tells me his wife has spent her life caring for others, including volunteering, helping the homeless and much more. He says it's ironic, that now she is the one that needs significant help, including for simple tasks like wiping tears, and scratching her nose! Learning to walk is far more involved than simply learning to balance on new prosthetics. Byram told me many people with only one amputation never learn to walk, as they don’t have the will to do so. In Jocelyn’s case it was actively discouraged as doctors were afraid she would fall and be injured without arms to support her. Thus, they started a grueling process from the ground up where Jocelyn would learn to walk with tiny prosthetics, and they would raise them by an inch or two every few weeks. Therefore, she has had to learn to walk many times over the past year, as prostheses have been slowly raised to help her learn safely. Every adjustment requires learning again. These adjustments and changes are time consuming and costly. If learning to walk wasn't enough, this summer she completed a feat Dr. Bridle never thought she would do again. She went for a canoe ride! Formerly a very outdoorsy type, this was a very emotional achievement for her. The Bridle’s attitude during this time is a testament to humanity's capacity (with God’s help) to overcome extreme adversity and even thrive in it. While there have been many moments of discouragement and doubt, the Bridle’s shared that this crisis has brought their family closer together and even strengthened their love for each other and their faith. Jocelyn, a strong Christian, said that at many dark moments she was imbued with a divine peace, which even the doctors noticed, wondering how it could be so. Though the subject of MAID was constantly on the table, the Bridle’s wanted none of it, and vigilantly watched to keep negativity at bay. One health professional remarked in her hearing that if this happened to him, he’d want to die. During our interview we discussed the remarkable God-given potential in every person, and the inestimable value of life. Our culture has become allergic to suffering and wishes to avoid it at all costs. Yet to suffer is to experience the depth of humanity, and if we’re open, to God’s consistent care. Our culture, which would paradoxically rather end life than suffer has lost a critical depth to humanity. We care only for today, not what may come after, and our assessment of the deep values of life, including values like freedom and justice have also become stunted and shallow. Jocelyn’s example of overcoming extreme adversity, and doing so with optimism and class has been an inspiration to many thousands of people. As she said, if her story helps just one person, it would be worth it. The Bridle’s have been through an extremely tumultuous period, and have handled it with grace and class.
