Letterboxd is genuinely one of my favorite things in the world. The idea of it being sold to anyone is a downer, but if The New York Times buys it, I’m worried it’ll get buried behind a paywall or we’ll end up drowning in ads.
I’ve always had a Patron account because I’m such a passionate believer in this app (for all the good my monthly contribution does, I guess). But I don’t see how this could be anything but a bummer.
The New York Times is now in exclusive talks to acquire for Letterboxd for around $330M.
