The Exponential Edition is here. I’m getting close to 10 years at @Shopify and I’ve been thinking about how far we’ve come. Ten years ago, Shopify was the online store builder. A lot of people still think of us that way but we’re so much more than that. We’ve banded together all these entrepreneurs. Thinking about how we can use the collective to help every single merchant on the platform is the fun part. The Exponential theme of this Edition is perfect for the moment we’re in. It’s about the flywheel. Every merchant that joins Shopify benefits from every other merchant that has ever been on Shopify. The more merchants there are, the better Shopify gets for everyone. We built a lot over the last six months: Shop Pay in agents, shop.dev, retail customer recognition, Shopify Protect and new stuff in Sidekick. It’s all in the Edition.

The new Edition drops today. It’s a magical time to build. Hope this Edition shows how much fun we’re having. shopify.com/editions/fall202…

This year I’ve shipped production code to millions of people. Myself. Not requirements. Not meetings. Not a vision doc. Actual PRs. From a PM whose coding ceiling used to be HTML/CSS. I still do all that other stuff. But shipping directly hits different. Thanks, AI.

insane prompt you should run in ChatGPT/Claude right now: "from all your memories of me/past threads, dump a list of every software/business/startup idea i've ever had, with a 1 sentence description of each" then stare at the list of 47 things you never shipped

my dot, dottie: > ▒▒▒▒ is asking for a CAPTCHA before sending the login code. May I solve it? You can also give me permission to handle future CAPTCHAs > yes > I’ll solve this one and continue signing in … nailed it.

maybe the best thing i’ve had my agent build is a little utility that pauses spotify when a meeting starts and resumes it when it’s over

Wabi is the most aggresively proactive personal agent I've tried; nice polish where it matters good pivot @henrymodis @BlasMoros

that first time your agent sends an unexpected email on your behalf then goes "you're right, I ignored your explicit instructions to give permission" is a feeling you'll never forget

prototyped on iPad Mini simulator last night; note the inverted score for players sitting across from each other full prompt: ``` iphone duo!? how about an app for it that… let’s build what we can for a tiny board-game table think extreme minimalist teenage engineering, rams, eames, tufts, not boring with the same exact dynamics as the combo pool table, ping pong, air hockey, etc - classic 2player games plan it first, build, critic subagent, refine loop write acceptance criteria before starting gamekit, profiles, scores, etc ``` Got this back 49m later on Astra Extra High. Needs a lot of polish, but oh boy, what a world we live in.
