This is fascinating! Role for CGRP in cancer growth so anti-CGRP migraine drugs can be helpful - Oral Cancer Survives Starvation with Help from Nearby Nerves the-scientist.com/news-opini…
The “trigger trap” is a real source and consequence of migraine stigma. Family, friends, co-workers, and bosses need to cool it when it comes to snooping for triggers.

Was just about to message you @sci_ross! This is so exciting. Love TRPV1
Incredible! Spent a lot of my PhD thinking about TRPV1 and have read a good few exciting proposals recently on Piezo. Loads of important pharmacology underpinning this award, too! Massive congrats to both winners.

Loving your book @statto and learning lots. How did I not know that the 2nd ‘p’ in apoptosis is silent?! Have always pronounced it, a-pop-toe-sis. Mindblown!

Totally agree with changing school day to later. Sleep is key to everything
Today is #WorldSleepDay! I've written 2 blogs about this subject that many of us - especially young people - may be struggling with: 💤 Sleep science (why the school day should start later): buff.ly/3qbBo81 💤 Counting sheep in the 21st century: buff.ly/39mRFAe

Love this. The importance of listening to what people say about they pain
A note on "objective" measures of #pain. My 2d blog post for the @PainResForum correspondents program. Would be interesting to hear your thoughts! #biomarker #painassessment painresearchforum.org/forums…

Have a very keen GCSE student who wants a scientific career but not sure what area. Any suggestions for intro courses in #engineering #astronomy #biosciences #chemistry etc that could help him get a flavour of different areas? Thanks #careers @FutureLearn @BiosciCareer

This is ridiculous. Why is the UK not taking a more sensible approach like the US and allowing women to make a personal choice? More gender inequality in this pandemic theguardian.com/world/2020/d… @clarewenham what are your thoughts on this?

Fabulous news!
Galcanezumab (Emgality) has been approved by @NICEComms for *both* episodic and chronic #migraine. This is fantastic news for sufferers in England and Wales, and opens up the possibility of preventing patients with high frequency episodic attacks progressing to chronic migraine

This is perfect advice!
Been having lots of convos this weekend with incoming graduate students in my department! Realized all my advice for choosing a lab boils down to one sentence: The lab *environment*, not the science, is the factor you need to give the most weight. A short thread! 1/
