I do not think most people (including Crowns and Judges, often!) know Legal Aid isn't free. It's a re-payable loan.
Q: How busy is Legal Aid Alberta?
A: Demand for legal help never stops. People depend on us.
34,500 – clients
28,000 – bail hearings
16,000 – calls for help from police stations
10,000 – duty counsel assists at court
Hundreds of calls a day.

Dear Media of the World,
Please read this extremely helpful analysis/critique of the Hopkins "lockdowns don't work" study.
@ProfPHansen's notes that the conclusion largely based on ONE study in iffy journal.

"Lockdowns only reduced mortality by 0.2%" claims (unreviewed) meta study, and it is getting much press in @FoxNews and the like.
A #metastudy aggregate the entire body of evidence. This one is based on 18,590 studies.
So, 0.2% must be a credible estimate... Well. No so fast. 🧵
