‼️ 1000 Year Rain Event Exceeded by almost 2X in Palm Beach Florida!
For at least the 3rd time in 3 days the US has had a 1000 year rainfall event, based on our historical climate. 17 inches in 6 hours in Palm Beach Gardens. Beats the criteria of 9” by 1.8X! Staggering. Unfortunately this storm may have very well been related to the jet accident.
I saw this rain intensity once before in Palm Beach County more than a decade ago when Delray/ Boynton had 24” in about 6 hours. Closed I-95.
A 1000 year event means the historic statistical chance is 1-in-1000 each year or .1% - it does not mean it happens only one per 1000 years and now-a-days because of our warmer climate and this year because of Super El Niño it’s a lot more possible because there’s now more moisture in the atmosphere. With #ElNino expect the unexpected!!

Nothing beats the horrors that will come from this anthropogenic greenhouse gas forcing.
The heating from a greenhouse gas forcing of 4.2 W/m² is equivalent to more than a billion Hiroshima bombs per year.

‼️ Unprecedented Collapse!
Watch as The Stratospheric Polar Vortex splits in 2 pieces - an unprecedented early-season collapse. Its a full month ahead of any other known collapse!
The latest forecast shows stratospheric winds in the Polar regions weakening to record-low levels in early November, and remaining that way for weeks!
Normally, the polar vortex strengthens during autumn. Instead, models suggest it could weaken dramatically, with winds potentially reversing direction.
If that happens, it could qualify as the earliest major sudden stratospheric warming (SSW) on record, potentially beating the previous November 28 benchmark.
Why does it matter? Well, a disrupted polar vortex can increase the chances of Arctic air spilling southward into the United States, Europe and Asia in subsequent weeks. However, that outcome is far from guaranteed because El Niño is overwhelming the pattern.
But ironically yes it’s very possibly related to this years Super El Niño, as Tropical Pacific convection can alter planetary-wave propagation into the stratosphere, potentially contributing to vortex disruption. #elnino 1/

So let me get this right: if you’re a corrupt right-wing leader who loses an election and is under investigation you get asylum?
If you’re a mom and kid fleeing violence you’re not?

Great thread by Eric and the teleconnections from Super El Niño to the unprecedented early season Sudden Stratospheric Warming event forecast. “It’s all connected”
I have a sneaking suspicion that the extreme eastward shift & intensity of this yr’s “Super” El Niño has something to do w/ the unprecedented, exceptionally early Sudden Stratospheric Warming Event that’s in most model forecasts

My husband invited his mistress to our tenth wedding anniversary dinner, seated her three chairs away from me, and watched me thank her for coming. But the affair wasn’t what destroyed me. It was discovering that almost everyone at that table had helped him hide it.
There were twelve guests, including my parents, my younger sister, my husband’s brother, and friends we’d known for years. He’d reserved a private dining room at a restaurant where dinner cost more than our monthly mortgage. Everyone was laughing, ordering expensive wine, and telling stories about our marriage. The woman sat beside my sister, wearing a delicate gold bracelet identical to one I’d found in my husband’s car six months earlier. He’d claimed it was a gift for his brother’s girlfriend. I might have dismissed the coincidence if I hadn’t watched my sister lean over and whisper, “You okay? I know tonight’s awkward.” The woman nodded and glanced at my husband. Something cold settled in my stomach. When my husband stepped outside to take a call, I followed him into the hallway. “How long?” I asked. His expression changed immediately. “Please don’t do this here.” That was all the confirmation I needed. “How long?” I repeated. “Almost two years,” he admitted. I stared at him. “And they know?” He didn’t answer. When I walked back into the room, nobody asked why I’d been crying. My mother simply reached across the table, squeezed my hand, and whispered, “Sweetheart, just get through dinner.” I realized then that she wasn’t comforting me. She was asking me to cooperate.
